Not only do they have multiple computers for use, they have a hotspot that you can check out for a month at a time. News papers, magazines, you name it !!! Last year around Halloween they had a ghost hunt in there at midnight it was so much fun. Now they have a Library Crawl going on during the month of October, where you visit Illinois Librarys and get a passport stamp. Sooo much fun. The staff is super helpful, so don't be shy.

They have everything one could possibly need as far as testing guides and the staff will direct you to the proper websites for further assistance. I think the library is a well kept secret that everyone should know about. It's more than books!…read more The Fairview Heights library offers you to borrow books, Ebooks, music, movies and even video games! Depending on the popularity there maybe a waiting list. They also offer access to computers. Eight computers you can reserve and one express computer. The reserved ones can be used hours at a time while the express allows 30 minutes of access. A variety of classes for kids and adults all year round. I figured the money I spend on books I'm only going to read once is kinda a waste in my end. When I can borrow a book, read it and take it back. Now you do need to stay in the area to get a library card at this location. So proof of residency is required. The librarians are extremely helpful when it comes to locating certain items and they all always full of information. Like... How do you know all this?!? I especially like Ebooks. This way I can download them from my computer to my smartphone or tablet. No need to go to the library physically with the Ebooks; everything is done online! At the end of the day.... Of course I will be back, I have to return a book!

I love the Collinsville library…read more As soon as I walk in the front doors by the big fountain, I am 5 years old all over again. This place has not changed much in 30 years. There are so many books here you could stay all day and still want to come back tomorrow to keep looking. The upstairs is strictly a children library which is nice as sometimes kids have a harder time whispering! It also gives children a space they can go and really enjoy books with ohhs and ahhs. The Children's library also has puppets, trains, dress up clothes, etc. We live in Troy and while the Troy library is our normal stop, about once a month I will take my little one to Collinsville Memorial Library because it is just that great.

Not only were they not whispering, but the librarians were projecting their voices. They should be in the theater, not the library. Absolutely unacceptable and totally distracting. The library is a place of quiet studying and reading, not the loud phone calls and screaming these librarians were participating in. And they say teenagers are bad. 0/10, would not recommend it.

On the door of the restroom there was a sign about having to check out a key in order to use the restroom and a sign about not bringing bags into the room, bringing a bag in to the restroom may result in loss of library privileges. There are signs above the urinal and on the back of the toilet stall door reminding people to flush. This is a public library that these rules and procedures are in. The library in my hometown does not have these kinds of rules and procedures. This is a public library that has a children's section and a young children's section. Do you think a child that needs to go wants to wait for a key? Just considering the restrooms does this sound like family friendly place? That is something only you the reader of this review can decide.

It has all of your essentials needs, as far as literature and computer usage, but their DVD collection is...meh. Some of the staff is usually friendly, but there's a few who aren't really nice, and always have a chip on their shoulders, for whatever reason. Community programs and townhalls are constant for the young and old, so the traffic is steady. I love the quaint feel it gives; it's one of the smaller branches in the city. To really have a pleasant experience, you'll want to get there early, especially when school is still in session. It's a hangout spot for neighborhood kids, and it can be a little rowdy. Also, there is a halfway house directly across the street. Many of those men come in and out all day. Some are a little stretchy, but there's usually an officer/security present. All in all, Carondelet isn't a bad place. There's a few hangups, but you get that anywhere, right? I'm a long time patron, so there's not must I fuss over. I go there because it's convenient and close by. I do what I need to do and then I'm out.
