My truck broke down (serpentive belt broke) Friday at 1pm i called 3 places no one could help me and checked in with the Chevy dealer and they didnt even have a tow truck i thought i was stuck in Whitewater till at least Tuesday . Luckily i got Mills Automotive number and the owner came out within 30 minutes and towed me to his shop. He didn't promise me he'd fix it but sent his secretary into Janesville Saturday morning to pick up the rare fan belt (i have a 1 ton diesel truck with 3 alternators). The owner installed the belt and i was on my way by 2pm Saturday. He even let me borrow one of his cars overnight which saved me a taxi to and from the shop from my campsite. Completely amazing service. Most outstanding service ever - he even was hosting a party at his house Saturday and still came in to help me. Don't use anyone else for your mechanical needs in Whitewater. read more

This towing company is a rip off. My car was in an accident Friday morning and I tried to pick it up on Saturday only to be told they are closed and couldn't get it picked till Monday. My car was there for 4 days and they charge me for 5 days of storage at $50.00 per day. My car was brought in at 12:45 am Friday morning so from Midnight till 8:00 am they consider that 1 day. The tow truck driver told me the car had a few dents and then I see the car and its completely totaled. Knowledgeable, Helpful & Honest Twas the night before Thanksgiving......and I was driving from Chicago to my aunt's house in Wisconsin. My car hadn't been idling right and the check engine light was on. I however braved the two hour drive thinking everything would be okay. I wasn't but 15 minutes from my destination when my car just wasn't running right altogether and I couldn't accelerate. I stopped alongside the road and pulled up yelp on my phone. Found these guys under repair and towing, and with a five star rating they had from another reviewer I decided to give them a try. The owner of the shop (I'm assuming) arrived within 20 minutes and towed my car to the shop. Given that the next day was a holiday they said they'd work on it on Friday morning. After running diagnostics they first thought that it was the cam sensor (or something like that) and and were going to check on parts. After about another hour they called back to tell me that it wasn't actually the sensor but that some wires were loose and they would just repair the wire and I could be on my way. For about $250 I got the tow, the diagnostics and the repair, not bad at all in my opinion. Turns out that the last guys to work on it (here in Chicago) hadn't put all the wires back into the necessary harness when they replaced a couple of other sensors just a couple months before. Now, had I had the repair done at the shop who f'd it up in the first place I'm sure my bill would have been much higher as the f-tard mechanics would have opted to replace the cam sensor. Thanks to the guys at Mills for being honest and knowledgeable. If you're ever stranded by the side of the road outside of Whitewater (or just live in the general area) take your automobile here!! read more

This place is a total scam. A $300 bill to tow a vehicle 3 miles! They have to be kicking back to the police for police tows. There are affiliated with AAA which I am a member and I will be reporting their terrible business practice with them as well. Stay away from this company!!! read more

They are very, very helpful and get the job done. They kept us in the loop of everything, were quick, efficient, and honest.

Do not use this company for towing or roadside assistance. I filed a grievance with AAA because I was so dissatisfied with the service. Fortunately, I was paying attention and stopped the tow truck driver before he damaged my vehicle. Unfortunately, I am unable to give zero stars. read more

They charged my son (UW Whitewater college student) $200 to tow his car less than 1 mile. They said it was a "police tow" and the reason for the extra charge. The police officer did call them for my son as a courtesy. I spoke with the police department and they informed me it was not a *police tow* which is a term used when needed for evidence, etc. The female manager working the counter would not reason with me, and I overheard a gentlemen angry and yelling about the full circumstances. Honest and reliable. They do all types of mechanic work and these guys know what they are doing. They also do towing, plowing, and uhaul. The front office lady is very polite and will even give you a ride home if needed. read more

I called in, lady was nice enough on the phone, quoted me a price that was reasonable, I went there, they did the work, and when I went to pay it was almost double what she had quoted me on the phone, when I said something about it she got very defensive and told me I must have misheard her, and I know I didn't. I won't be going back again, I don't appreciate being charged double. read more

Rude and bitchy. Had my car for 24 hours. Worked on it for 30 minutes and refused to work on it because they assumed I wouldn't pay for the diagnostic, even though their web site says free estimates. The lady on the phone cut me off multiple times as I was trying to ask why they were being so rude. While doing so, the greed in her voice finally made it's way into words as she demanded that I verbally authorize $100 before they touch it anymore. I basically couldn't take it anymore and took my business elsewhere. Sorry for trusting you with my car for 24 hours just to have you demand money, which you offered to waive if I agreed to have you repair it once it was diagnosed, but just because you are overweight and uneducated doesn't mean you should make money off of me. read more

My daughter who goes to school in Whitewater came out to her car one morning and it would not start. She eventually had to call someone for service and chose this place. They ended up recommending over $1300 worth of work be done to her 2000 Camry, and a new set of tires. Naturally we were very reluctant to spend this kind of money on a vehicle that had been so reliable but aging. Since I was out of state and could not be there I called and spoke to them directly. Not the mechanic mind you but a lady who seemed to be the counter person. After some discussion and reading some of these reviews, we decided to have them go forward with the work, less the tires, and help her with the expense. She is in her senior year and the funds are getting low and the bills are still growing. So far so good and they gave us the parts. They were used. Right! Fast forward 3 months. Daughters car won't start. Call Mills and get the $40 in town towing and they can get to it in a couple of days but it looks like its the battery. And that nice fellow that wanted to help your daughter, he melted the terminals to the battery by hooking things up backwards. 3 days later we find out that this was $400. Hmmm, sounds a little high to me. Certainly there must be more to it, right? I called and spoke to this nice older pleasant lady. Battery $113, tow, repair those terminal connections = $400 WTF!!!! Yup $400 I tried my best to have her convince me that this was a fair price for the work done but that didn't happen. Needless to say I'm even more suspicious of that $1300 trip. My family and I drove up from Chicago for student orientation at University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. Once I arrived I noticed a rattling sound coming from the back of my car. It sounded pretty bad. I was a bit apprehensive about driving back to Chicago without having it checked out so I plugged in my GPS and Mills Automotive popped up. I took my car in and explained the problem to the owner, Charles. I told him that I was in a rush because my son was going through orientation and I needed to be back in 1 hour. He immediately stopped what he was doing and said "let's go for a ride". We drove a few miles and he said it was an exhaust shield. He drove it back to the shop, hoisted up the car and showed me where a bolt had rusted through told me that the shield had to be replaced. He strapped the shield to prevent it from rattling and told me to order the part from the dealer (when I got back to Chicago) and have a local repair shop install the shield. He then lowered the car and told me I shouldn't have any problems getting home. When I asked him how much? He said "don't worry about it". His honesty and integrity made my day. I would recommend this shop hands down. These guys know what they are doing. They are honest and trustworthy. Whitewater is fortunate to have them servicing their community. read more

My daughter recently had her car repaired here. She came home and I looked at the car. There was no power steering fluid in the container and no anti-freeze in the over flow container. I reviewed the bill and there was no mention of low fluid. To top it off a week after they replaced the alternator the car burned up!! TOTAL LOSS! read more
