I 100% do NOT recommend using their tow and auto service. Complete scam! They told me when I had my truck towed that they could fix the truck. When they could not get the parts, I found the parts and they refused to fix the truck. They still charged me for the tow despite not completing a repair. I would have NEVER had my truck towed if they did not misrepresent themselves as an auto repair shop. DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY AUTO REPAIR! THEY WILL SCAM YOU! They are simply an oil change place and maybe do brakes. Other than that- they are incompetent. After a 6+ hour drive from Michigan, Cody came to the rescue!!! Uhaul estimated him to be at my location 60-90 minute and Cody came within 10-15 minutes. My daughter is a student at Beloit College and got a loud scraping noise after hitting a pothole. Had the car towed to Dewey's expecting the worst. I just back from Dewey's as they do all my maintenance on all my cars. Having used a number of companies around the country (I moved a bit) for car maintenance, I must say Dewey's is by far the best I have ever used. A couple of stories. Once one of the boys took their car to get checked at a local tire dealer. They told him he needed 4 tires and new struts. I take it to Dewey's, and no, it does not need struts, and only two tires. Another time I go there with a "problem", it sounded like it would cost a bunch. I came back and it was $8. Anywhere else and I would have paid over $100. I trust these guys and you can trust them as well. I highly recommend them. read more

I wish i could give it 0 starts - The most unprofessional set of people that works at this company. I had the pleasure to work with them for two weeks straight since 2/10 up until 2/22 as our truck needed repairs. The woman that answers their phone (god only knows what her name is as she never answers the phone by stating her name) is rude, unprofessional and acts as if shes annoyed that she even has to answer the phone. They list three locations on their business card however only 1 location has someone physically there. The last straw was when we called their office at 11pm to retrieve our trailer, called 4 times, they would answer the phone and not say anything - when i finally got someone to SPEAK when phone was answered, the lady accused me of calling their phone all night (i called repeatedly 4 times until someone answered) and as result we cannot get our trailer that night because i guess that pissed her off. She proceeded to call me at 7:30am the next morning and said "One of my guys is headed to the yard, if you want to get your trailer today your driver better not be asleep" and hung up the phone before i could even get a word in ( All of my phone calls are recorded so no rebuttal is needed here unless you want me to really put your business on blast). I emailed Jean the same day (i guess thats the owner, or maybe the nasty witch i had the pleasure of communicating - if you want to call it "communicating") to obtain the paid receipt for the tow bill for accounting, to which she replied that we will not be receiving a receipt since OUR insurance paid for the charges. I have NEVER in my life heard anything so bizarre or have EVER dealt with anyone so highly unprofessional and "i do what i want" attitude. If you want to spare yourself the nerves, time spent and avoid the whole town being in cahoots of your repairs, tow or storage - STAY THE F AWAY from this business. NO need to rebuttal, or send me nasty emails or calls - Karma is a bigger witch than I can ever be. read more

Cody from Deweys changed a flat tire on my sons car. Was able to find the leak on the spot fixed it and put the tire back on. Very pleasant and explained everything really well and made me comfortable about the safety of the tire after the tire was fixed. What a nice and helpful guy! :) read more

Exceptional experience. My alternator died passing through WI and we had to stay over night. Woke up early the next morning and called Deweys to see if they could get the job done. They got my truck in first thing in the morning and completed the job in under 1 hour. Very reasonable prices and great service. I was thrilled with my experience and fortunate to find such a great auto repair shop through yelp. Yelp and Dewey's saved my Christmas travel plans and I'm so thankful!!! read more

We've been taking all our vehicles to Deweys for five years now and they just reminded us again today why we love this place. On more then one occasion we've taken one of our vehicles in and they've actually fixed what needed fixing saving us a bunch-o-money. This as opposed to trying to sell us on replacing parts or entire systems. They've earned our trust. read more

My daughter goes to college in Beloit and I am in Ohio. I researched this shop and through reviews I felt very comfortable with having my (her) car worked on there. They kept in constant contact with me in Ohio and called me with the estimate, which was very reasonable for the problem at hand. I would really like to thank them, I was hesitant in letting my daughter take the car to college, but now I know I can trust Dewey's the remainder of her years in Wisconsin. It was the TP Sensor, which is hard to diagnose, but easy to fix. read more

I moved to a town near Beloit in Aug 2009 and Dewey's has been a lifesaver! I had some car problems when I first moved with a leaky radiator then some belt in the engine and Dewey's always repaired it and at a fair cost. They also towed me from Rockford to my town so I can drop off some important things the driver was nice enough to let me unload then took my car for repair. I highly recommend this little Auto repair shop. Very solid! read more

My first time at Dewey's. Everyone was very friendly. Had a brake light replaced and got new wipers. The whole process from showing up (no appointment necessary) to paying and leaving too under 10 minutes. And it was unbelievably cheap! read more

Had a timing belt replaced on 18 Oct. and the front bolt holding the damper came out on 18 Dec. Two other mechanics said Subaru recommends lock tite be used to keep bolt in place but deweys did not use it. It cost $500 plus a tow to repair their mistake. When this was explained to Jean the owner she said because of time frame since repair they would not stand behind the job. If this bolt had fallen out I would be buying a new engine. Shoddy work cost me $$$$$$$$. They DONT stand behind their service. read more

i THOUGHT we were happy when we had our radiator repair done @ Dewey's Repair Service, until the next day, when my car overheated on the road and started spewing coolant everywhere! i managed to get my car back to Deweys while they were still open, but the person working at the time wasn't a mechanic and when they called one none were willing to come in. they said it looked like my hose wasn't hooked up correctly (by Deweys), but no one would fix it. this is while my domestic partner was in outpatient surgery and the vehicle in question was desperately needed as our transportation home from the hospital. i explained that carefully to the people at Dewey's, who still couldn't be bothered to come fix the job they botched in the first place so i could use my car like they said i could when i took it away from there. so much for customer service! read more

TOTALLY TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED!!!!! I am a local, my girlfriends car quit running, called them to tow and fix it. They charged me $56.00 to tow it two miles, this was on a Friday. They said they could get to it first thing Monday morning??? Monday came and went no call I had to call them, they said the part came in but they had a 1:00 app. and one other after that, and then they might be able to get to my car. Called them Tues. at noon, lady said mechanic that would put the part in was at the parts store call back later. I went down there, the mechanic said the part was put in Mon night but didn't fix the problem!!!!! So I to them I wanted it towed to F & F tire in Roscoe, Il. They charged me another $65.00 to tow it down there, and then $22.00 for the part I didn't need, and $90.00 labor to put the part I didn't need in the car. When I got to the office they were all shoveling food in there faces and made me feel like I was just ruining their day!!!! Then $250.00 later they did absolutely nothing for me except suck a bunch of money out of my pocket. Never again will I ever deal with these people I will call a towing company from any where else but this place!!!!!!!! If I could give them negative 5 stars I would. UNHAPPY COSTUMER!!!! read more

If I could rate them a negative five stars I would. I originally called Dewey's for a jumpstart on 11 SEPT15. My car was a non-start, all electronics were working in good order and insurance roadside was going to take too long to assist. Dewey's had, what I thought was a fair price for the jumpstart. They arrived quickly and the technician, Austin, was courteous. After a few attempts, he thought the issue was actually my starter. I asked if his shop (as the name is Dewey's Towing and Recovery) did that kind of work. He said yes, so I gave him permission to tow my vehicle, confirm it is the starter and give me a quote. Quote for the starter was reasonable and they were able to get the part in that day (a Friday), vs the earliest other could get it in was the Monday. In the afternoon they called me to inform me it was not my starter that caused the non-start and that my engine was "locked." I called my insurance company to tow it to another shop and paid Dewey's the $176.69 they requested (for tow and 1.5hrs labor). The second shop determined the non-start was the negative battery cable needed to be replaced. Once the car was started they completed their multipoint safety inspection and determined an "abnormal engine noise." I went to pick up the vehicle and noted the "ignition" was a little delayed and I was hearing noises I never heard before in the six years of owning my vehicle. I had the second shop run diagnostics and use stethoscope equipment to determine the cause of the abnormal engine noise. The cause was the starter's pionon gear would randomly release into the fly wheel while the engine was running. I called Dewey's inquiring about what work was really done the day they had my car in the shop. They stated they replaced my starter, but didn't charge me for the part and only half of the labor because "they felt bad that this wasn't the cause" for the non-start. I was unaware that they had done this and now I have a faulty part in my car replacing a part that should have never been removed. Dewey's refused to warranty their work claiming because they only charged me for half of the labor. All work I did not ask for an is now causing damage/issues to my vehicle. I called several times because I was really upset with the fact they refused to rectify their error. In these conversations they changed their position on the status/state of my original starter claiming it "would have had to have been replaced anyway." They told me I could get the part warrantied at Advanced Auto Parts through them (as I have no invoice/proof showing that this part is in my car). It took several days to remind them to work out that with Advanced Auto. While speaking with Advanced Auto, it was determined that Dewey's had actually put the wrong part number in my car back on 11SEPT. After several discussions, Dewey's finally agreed to rectifying the issue and putting the correct part in my car. On 28 SEPT Dewey's was working to fix this mistake with the new part they were given from Advanced Auto Parts. This new part was touching the flywheel as well. I had several discussions with Advanced Auto Parts, aftermarket parts distributors and three dealerships to figure out the disconnect. Turns out Advanced Auto Parts order the wrong part yet again. During that investigation, I spoke with the technician Mike at Dewey's. He was cordial and helpful. I asked him what would happen if they put my original starter back in my car. He told me that my original starter tested fine and would work. This really upset me that the story kept changing on the condition of my original part! It upset me that a perfectly good part was taken out of my car without authorization and replaced with a wrong part number. I was also upset that their parts supplier wasted so much of our time because they didn't provide the shop with the correct part number on two occasions. I ordered Dewey's to put my original part back in my car and retrieved it on 29SEPT. My car is fully functional and working fine with no abnormal noises. The owner was not available until the 30th to discuss my frustration. She never returned my phone call requests so I stopped in on a lunch break. I was treated very poorly. She was not courteous (despite the potential of a large lawsuit on her hands for her shops malpractice). I in turn was not courteous and demanded my $176.69 back. After arguing back and forth, Dewey's returned my payment. SO in the end they fixed their mistake and returned payment, but it was quite the hassle that should have NEVER had happened. Dewey's misdiagnosed my car issue twice! Took a perfectly good part out of my car, replaced it with the wrong part all without my knowledge/authorization. They refused to rectify this for over a week despite all of this being caused by their malpractice. They maybe good at towing/recovery, but I would never recommend anyone to their shop for anything else. read more
