Mark and his team were friendly and courteous and showed a great deal of respect for my home (walls, stairway, door openings). I interviewed about 6 moving companies and right away from talking with Abner I felt comfortable. Other moving companies were very persistent, trying to sell me, and seemed dishonest. Abner was very responsive and straight forward but did not contact me again after initial quote until I decided to go with him. He garunteed pick up date and arrival date (and time and was 10 minutes early each time!) which was huge for us as our move had to be very scheduled and other companies quoted us a 2 week interval (or more!) of when our items would be delivered. His crew in Houston arrived and packed our entire apartment, included disassembling basic items. They were extremely professional and efficient. Every item even valuable and breakable items arrived in perfect condition. He met us in San Fransisco 5 days later and him and two others unloaded all our boxes and assembled any dissassembled items. Again very professional and efficient. Iron back movers turned what could have been a very stressful move into 0 stress. When scheduling my move, I provided detailed information about my home, including the number of…read morerooms, boxes, large furniture items, and the fact that I lived on the third floor. Based on that information, I was given a competitive quote and decided to hire Squared Cow Movers. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to expectations. The movers arrived late and explained that someone had called in sick. Only two movers showed up, even though I had been told during the quote process that there would be two to three movers assigned to the job. My biggest concern was the final cost. After the move was completed, I was presented with a bill that was approximately $500 higher than the quoted amount. The lead mover explained that the office staff who provide quotes do not fully understand the scope of a move unless they see it in person. While I understand that estimates can vary, a $500 increase is excessive, especially when there was no warning or discussion of additional costs until after the job was finished. The lead mover contacted his supervisor, Justin, who acknowledged that there were training issues with the front office staff. However, aside from agreeing to remove 1.5 hours from the final bill, the company was unwilling to take further responsibility for the discrepancy. I explained that customers should not be expected to absorb significant additional costs due to the company's internal training issues. To make matters worse, several of my items were left with tape residue and marks from the moving materials used, and one of my barstools sustained a puncture tear in the seat. I have submitted a damage claim and hope the company will make things right. I am sharing this review as a warning to potential customers. If you are working within a strict budget, be aware that your final bill may differ significantly from the quote provided. I have moved several times over the years, and unfortunately, this was by far the worst moving experience I have had.
