Mingus, and also as an excellent way to avoid the excess of nearby Sedona. During the first visits to The Historic Connor Hotel my respite was Room 12, up the creaky wooden stairs to the top floor, where a king bed, private bath and great views of the Verde Valley greeted me every morning. I stayed for several nights, enjoying the first floor Spirit Room Bar and its live music and western comaraderie by night, and its strong coffee and light breakfast at first light if not too hungover. It was a wonderful space to write, reflect and philosophize. It might have been haunted like other places in town, but me and that ghost got along just fine. Two loners we were. I returned three times to Connor, reserving #12 each time. It was a home away from home. Although during those years I occasionally slept in other heads on beds in Jerome when I felt the need for a change, this 1898 stone and brick edifice always had my heart. We stayed two nights in a one-bedroom suite at the Sedona Springs Resort…read more I'll start with the good: - The prices here were far more reasonable than most other places in Sedona; Sedona in general is an expensive tourist town, so save on lodging where you can. - The one bedroom suite was massive. We had one regular bed and two pull-outs, plus a full kitchen (full fridge, dish washer, stove, etc.), and the room had supplies for cooking and dining in. We also had a large dining room table. - The resort has plenty of amenities for long-term stays (a laundry room, pools, gym, etc.) - The staff was always nice and overly accommodating! I was worried that they would push the timeshare presentation on me, but not a single person did, which I appreciated. My criticisms (all minor): - The front desk is not open 24/7. We were originally planning on arriving between 11PM and midnight, but after learning last minute that check-in ends at 10PM on weeknights, we had to rearrange our plans. This isn't the end of the world, but something to be mindful of. - Our TV connection was not working most of the time. We were trying to watch sports or movies during our stay, and often had a bad connection. - The dryer in our room would not dry our clothes. We ran the dryer through its full cycle probably 3-4 times before giving up; our clothes were still extremely damp. -The recreation room was pretty minimal, and the gym was fairly small. Overall, I would come back again. I think it served its purpose as an incredibly spacious place to stay for relatively cheap in one of the most beautiful towns in America.

The check-in process was easy and they will give you a parking pass that needs to be viewable while you were on the property. Once we entered the room, we found it to be ordinary. We had a standard king-size bed, a small kitchen and a private balcony area. Two pool towels are located in each room. As we adjusted the air, we noticed the air vent was absolutely filthy. After we settled our luggage, I went to get ice near the pool. The ice machine was broken. I went to the front desk to ask for another location and the receptionist didn't even look up from her phone and just told me "go outside to the right" after some nearby hikes in the area, we came back to the room and decided to go to the pool area closest to our unit (239P) it was late afternoon as we entered the pool. It was a little chilly so we decided to go to the hot tub. The hot tub was also broken. We collected our items and went to the larger pool to use that hot tub. The trash by the pool was completely full the day we arrived and was never emptied in four days. Trash was literally overflowing onto the ground. The Wi-Fi in the room does work, but it is very weak. Parking is very limited in the afternoon when everyone is done with hiking. They reserve six spots in front of the front desk for check-in after a four day stay I had only ever saw a gold cart parked there or one car at a time checking in. After paying for a room, I don't appreciate it being treated like an Airbnb. The instructions on the checkout sheet asked us to load the dishwasher and run it collect all trash from the room and return the keys to the front desk. If you were looking for a resort style place to stay in Sedona, do not stay here.

Cons: *Our room was very dark with low lighting which made it appear quite dreary. *While the furnishings were cute, there were so many of them it seemed overcrowded in the space. The bathroom was really small and cramped. *Our bed was set back from the road but our son's faced the porch and the parking lot, so he heard all of the road noise and inconsiderate guests conversing loudly at 6 a.m. Not the hotel's fault but that's how it goes. *While free pastries are nice in the morning, they are the pre-packaged type in plastic that are not the most appetizing. Overall, a nice change from the cookie-cutter hotel chains we all know. The room kind of felt like a beloved aunt had fixed up her attic space for you to stay in while you were visiting and she'd made sure you had everything you needed. It was the first time using airbnb but they had great reviews and I did not hestitate about booking with them. Any other place just paled in comparison. We happened to arrive much earlier than check in and they had the room all ready for us. The property is breathtaking and even the amazing pictures do not do it justice. I was in awe at the level of hospitality and comfort Nancy and Jerry put into the lovely guest house for us. The refrigerator was stocked with water, soda, milk and juice as well as breakfast items including eggs, bagels, cream cheese, butter, fresh fruit, granola bars and coffee. I wish we had more time to just stay and relax at their home but we took advantage of having breakfast right outside on the patio while watching the sun come up and staring up at the stars in the evening. Jerry gave us some great advice on things we should see in the area and we ate lunch at the Haunted Hamburger in Jerome as he recommended. I cannot say enough great things about their property, the view and overall friendliness but to book a stay with them and you will not regret it. They have their own parking lot. Their breakfast and 24/7 honor system beverages and snacks, fruits etc is like access to an executive lounge privilege. We didn't use the fireplace but room AC was good and strong and you can self adjust the thermostat. King size bed was so comfy- no tossing and turning just settle in for a good night's rest. There is a fire pit in the courtyard in the afternoons. Loved the hummingbird at the bird feeder outside the breakfast nook. Guests are quiet and respectful. It's in walking distance to restaurants at Tlaquepaque. Close driving to visit shops, vortexes, and other attractions further up the hill. I can imagine before the holidays once the temperatures get cooler is an ideal time to finish your holiday shopping for people on your list.

On this particular visit, my steak was just a tad under done. But they fixed the problem quickly and made all well again.
