My family has used this lodge several times, but this will be the LAST time. They "overbooked" and stuck them in a TINY room not suitable for three people. They had booked a downstairs room, as one of them is disabled. Because of Management's "mistake" they were put upstairs and the stairs are a rotted out safety hazard. A call to them did no good. They were "sorry". SORRY INDEED. read more

My friend and I stayed there for two nights in Suite 102. Easy, pull up to the door parking and a secure access door code had been previously provided. The place was immaculate and was stocked with many thoughtful amenities. As this unit had a full kitchen, we were able to save some $$ by cooking in the room. Just about every small appliance and cooking utensil you could need. The twin trundle bed was amazingly comfortable and the king bed was just as nice. I highly recommend this historic lodge and we LOVED the little town of Clarkdale. The park is just across the street, so if you travel with pets, it's great! If you are looking for an enthralling place to spend a night or a few nights, I would highly suggest staying at the Clarkdale Lodge. While my daughters, our dogs, and I stayed here, we were more than satisfied with our experience. Our entire visit was full of exploration, laughter, and memories that each one of us will cherish. From the moment we pulled into the historic little parking lot, we were captivated by the entire appearance. The beautiful maroon-red building is such a unique color. We were thrilled with everything the apartment had to offer; from the spacious kitchen, the trundle guest beds, and my favorite amenity, the quaint, lavender-shade bathroom. We also loved the library on the 2nd floor. Outside on the 2nd-floor patio, we saw the Jerome mountainside and the crimson peaks of Sedona. Directly across the street from the Lodge, there is a perfectly placed kids' park and a lush, grassy field for the dogs. A few streets away, we came across an adorable Laundromat. For dinner, we went to the Mexican restaurant that is right across the parking lot. There, we ate some delicious food, including the most fantastic guacamole I have ever tasted. We had such a great time during our visit to the Clarkdale Lodge, and we were so disappointed when it was time for us to leave. We were so thankful for the hospitality of the staff, the generous atmosphere of the community, and the fascinating adventure that we experienced. Without a doubt, we will be back. read more

I want to write a good review here, I really do. There are however some things that seriously detracted from the experience. The online booking system books the room for $129 even when you choose three people (one being an 1 year old infant). Then you get tacked on a $25 additional guest fee for a 1 year old. I have traveled everywhere and have never had that happen before -- especially without any notice. The same online booking system shows it as an inquiry (not a reservation) and they don't answer their phone or return calls, so if the email they later send from a different address goes to spam, you have no clue if you actually have a room or not. When we arrived, I went to the office (which is really not a good first impression) which was really dirty, covered in cobwebs w/spider, and empty. I went to the lobby which had a spider crawling on the baseboard. I noticed because I suffer from arachnophobia. Once I find the owner (watering plants) we get in the room and it is clean and nice. The kitchen and bath are well appointed. I did pull out the "trundle" and it was pretty dirty... so I could not use it for my daughter (even though I was charged $25 to be able to apparently). We ended up having to improvise a "bed" in the middle of the living room carpet. Anyway, after traveling we wanted to give my daughter a bath. Well, the bathtub does not hold water... so I walked to the office and he came and tried to fix it. Instead, he (creatively I will admit) gave me a flexible Frisbee/Disk to use to cover the drain... which generally worked. In summary, the place is nice (in the room and the garden outside) but it could be so much better if they would communicate billing and registration better...and... I am not trying to be rude here, but the proprietor left an exudate in the room and bath area when he was down to try and fix it that required us to open the doors and blast the window A/C for a bit to clear it up. The town is quaint, and the Boathouse cafe is actually really good but the park is closed sadly. Highly recommend the rail-road, it is great. We will be back to the area, but not sure I will stay here again, especially after asking about the billing and being told for the first time that my 1 year old was being charged $25 and no offer of any concession for the issues with the bathtub and uncommunicative way they present charges. read more

If you like bait and switch reservations and less than honest hotel managers, stay here! We made a reservation to stay here for October, 2022. (That's 5 months out) We booked several rooms for a two night stay. We then received an email soon after, without an explanation, that the hotel owner cancelled a few of our rooms. We called him and he used a flimsy excuse he was holding out rooms for longer staying guests. We tried to rebook individually and the system accepted our reservation and took our money. The next day, we received a message that the room we booked was already booked via another website, and again he cancelled it. BTW- there is no other website to reserve rooms, so he's also a less than honest person to deal with. Went back into the website later and the room was yet again available. So if you're looking for confirmation to stay in Clarkdale, don't book here. You won't know if you're going to get a room and God forbid you try to stay there needing multiple rooms because the owner apparently picks and chooses what rooms he "wants" to reserve and there is no indication before you reserve what he's going to do. In addition, not sure why he's so picky. There's not much around town to do and little to no amenities. We just thought it was a big enough hotel to allow a large group of people to add commerce to the town that clearly looks like they could use it. read more

Clarksdale Lodge isn't at all how it is represented in the on-line pictures. The pictures show a carefully staged balcony with great views. The views are good, but the furniture was filthy and in a pile in the corner surrounding by pots of dead plants. The site was extremely unkept. At our arrival time there was no host or hostess to greet us. Check-in was via phone. Marketing stated the host was close and usually in the garden, but that was certainly not the case. We travel often and this is rock bottom in our opinion. read more

We got to this hotel and I was immediately in love with the decor! More on that later, but we had some issues. First and foremost, there's no maid service! We paid a reasonable amount, it was affordable, but not so affordable that we should have to take out our own trash and make our own bed. Having someone else make your bed is the best part of vacation! The internet is severely spotty, which is somewhat expected in this kind of remote small town. But still annoying to have it turn completely off every half hour or so. The decor is straight out of fixer upper in the best possible way. Lots of soft relaxing colors. You can tell that the owners put a lot of time and effort into making this a cozy place. It's obviously an old building, but they're made quite a few updates to make it contemporary without losing its sweet charm. There was a nice lobby to sit in, we sat on the deck as the sun started to go down, it was gorgeous and the deck furniture was comfortable! The towels were SO soft and fluffy. That was delightful when you get out of the shower. The bedsheets, not so much but they were acceptable. Overall, I would stay here again in a heartbeat IF they had a maid service, I'm partial to having someone else make my bed on vacation. I don't even need daily fresh sheets or towels, just someone to tidy up so I don't have to take my own tiny trash can out. read more

My family just spent three nights at the Clarkdale Lodge for a long weekend together and we were very pleased with the accommodations. We visit the Verde Valley about every other year and go to Sedona and Prescott and ride the train and drive around looking at sights and go antiquing and just generally putter. This was our first time staying at the Clarkdale Lodge. In the past we always rented a house via VRBO.com. However, Expedia recently bought the website and the fees that Expedia charges are new and outrageous. I decided I was unwilling to pay a third to half the cost of the rental in fees to Expedia. So, I began looking for an alternative accommodation that had a kitchen and I discovered the Clarkdale Lodge. I'm so glad I did. It is where we will be staying on our trips to the Verde Valley from here on out. So, on to the description of the lodge. Let's start with what the Clarkdale Lodge is not. It is not a resort. If you want luxury or pampering or spa treatments or entertainment, look elsewhere. It is not a business hotel. If you want lightening fast internet, voi phones, or computer stations, again, look elsewhere. It is not a full service hotel. There is not daily maid service, and you'll take out your own trash and do your own dishes. If that bothers you, then this is not the place for you. However, if you want truly kind and friendly service, if you want pet friendly, if you want to be treated like a guest and not like a customer, if you want clean and reasonably priced, if you want a convenient location, if you want to be comfortable, if you want to have access to a full kitchen and a home like setting, then Clarkdale Lodge may be exactly what you're looking for. The beds are comfortable; the towels are fluffy; the soaps and shampoos smell fantastic; the decor is tastefully done, the kitchens are reasonably stocked with the tools you need to cook a meal, there is ample parking, it's close to a park for kids and dogs to run around in, it's within walking distance of yummy restaurants. Pleasant Surprise!!! Went up to the Cottonwood area for a few days. After looking at Air BNB and hotels and not finding what I wanted I found the Clarkdale Lodge. Just up the road from Cottonwood ,Jerome and Sedona it is in a small very cute town with a few cafes and lunch spots. Across the street from the town park it is perfectly located for people with dogs and children. Having traveled quite a bit in my life I was very happy with the room. Beautifully decorated with modern style furniture without being pretentious. The room was very clean and cool. The A.C was great as it was pretty hot out. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils you will need to cook a meal. Two choices for making coffee with all you need to start your day and a few ingredients so you don't have to bring everything with you i.e. salt pepper, oil , vinegar etc. The outside deck was perfect for our morning coffee. The upper deck was great to chill and have some wine or just to enjoy the view. The bed was very comfortable , the pillows were perfect and the T.V was huge and rotated so you can see it from every point in the room. The owner Daniel was kind and very helpful Free wifi. If you are like me and like some freedom to relax this is the place. I will be back. Soon I hope. read more

Had a great experience at Clarkdale Lodge! Great location in between Jerome and Cottonwood. Super close to both cities. The room was super spacious, clean, with all the amenities you'd want/need. Close to the train and they set the ride all up for us! Nice room. Kitchen stocked with dishes and even oil and spices in the cupboard. Fresh Flowers in the room. Nice patio. I would definitely stay here again. read more
