Great weekend getaway at the most hospitable and comfortable location in Downtown Prescott I thought it was a charming old building. It had a great location to the downtown area. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The comfort and privacy were there, even if it was an over 100 yr old building. Smart TV, vintage furniture, clean amenities. The Hotel Vendome really should be a grand old dame of Prescott. Sadly, it has been allowed to deteriorate to the point the some of it is rotting. Service, such as it is, is in about the same state. This place could be a star in Prescott, but it will take a lot of money to fix it. There is an intriguing legend that room immediately to the left of the stairs is haunted. The place was built in 1917. It shows. The roof over the second story porch on the front has lost a huge percentage of its shingles. This has allowed water to enter the roof and the eaves, which have holes in them from the water damage. The second floor porch ceiling shows many boards that have bowed so badly that the ends have popped loose from the ceiling joists. As noted above there are holes evident from rot in the eaves. The paint on the facia board trim has mostly pealed away leaving them gray and bare. The owners have not done even basic maintenance on the outside for years. The front desk closes at 5:00 PM. I arrived shortly before, and the staff had already gone. They sent a long email with the four digit code to the front door, my room number, and a note that the room would be unlocked and they key left inside. The front door code is on the back of the key. The owner told me that they only leave rented rooms open with the key. No one who is concerned about personal security should consider this place. The rooms are about the size that you would expect. There is a closet but no dresser (no space for one). Folding clothes have to be left in the closet in your luggage. The furniture is low end yard sale cheap. On one side of the bed, there was a painted desk/dresser with two small drawers, and an ancient, painted kitchen chair that threatened to come apart. Paint was chipped on both. On the other side of the bed there was an old, battered occasional table. These were obviously to be thought of as antiques rather than junk that they were. There was a contemporary headboard, but this also came from some second hand store. The rest of the bed was not there. The mattress was set on a stand alone platform bed. My stay was in mid-April with temperatures ranging from 50 degrees at night to the mid-80's during the day. When I arrived, the room was an oven. A sign said that the A/C had been turned off for the season. I threw open both the room window and the bathroom window and turned on the fan. What a surprise, the window sills showed significant dry rot. There were very old, wood-framed window screens. In the bathroom, the screen had pulled loose from the frame. The hotel had been heated for years by radiators. There are rust marks on the carpet where it sat in my room and a hole in the floor where the pipe for water had come up. There is now a wall mounted, electric space heater, which was necessary at night during my stay. The bathroom appeared to have been last updated in the 1960's from the way it had been finished. The vanity area was covered with 4-inch square blue tiles that were popular then. There was a claw foot tub, which was tricky for entry and exit. There were dual shower curtains on each side of the tub. These left a gap at both the front and back of the tub allowing water from the shower to splash out on the walls and floor. The wall at the front of the tub and undergone at least one very shoddy repair of water damage. Paint was pealing off on the part of the wall a couple of inches from the unpainted repair. It left me wondering was lurking behind the wall repair. Housekeeping, well.... There was hair on the bathroom vanity from a previous guest as well as smudges on the mirror. Lobby furniture was again worn yard sale stuff. There were two fake leather wing chairs. Both seat cushions had tears from wear. A fabric winged settee sat across from them. The seat cushions had been crushed from years of use. Oh, and the old radiators you ask. A couple are used as table bases on the front porch. Sort of a college apartment approach to decoration. Most of the rest sat in front of the house next to the Vendome. There are 30 rooms at the place. When I checked out, the owner asked me about my stay. What I have written here is what I told him, politely. His response was that they were trying to develop a plan to renovate the place. I wonder how long that has been going on. The place is at the point where it will be a full gut job to bring it back to what it could and should be. He did comp one night of my stay. Why did I pick this hotel and stay there? Years ago, my wife and I had stayed there and had great experiences. This time I picked it for the very good location and memories of that experience. To get the best rate, I had prepaid. This could be the gem of downtown. It deserves to be. In the meantime, I would suggest one of the two brand name properties both, just off Sheldon Street. Both are modern and not historically romantic, and both are expensive. read more

We only live maybe 20 minutes away from here, but we decided to meet family at Colts nearby and try a comedy show. Everything was within walking distance. We got to the hotel around 3:30 pm and our room was ready. I think Nick was at the front desk, and he was full of historical knowledge of the hotel and the area. Really nice guy! We stayed in The Tom Mix Suit, and it was sweet! (see what I did there? ) See all my pictures! We had time to bring our things in and check it out. Then we walked over to Colts. (That was really good!) The bed was a little soft for us, but the sheets were 100% cotton! Thank you for that! We had breakfast at b.simple in the morning after a wonderful cup of coffee and a visit with the pleasant girl at the front counter. (That was really good as well!) Our server asked if we stayed in the haunted room there with a lady ghost and her cat ghost!!!! Nooooo, but I'm so asking for that room next time! Highly recommend! We will be back! We had such a great time at this historic hotel in the Whiskey Road District Prescott Arizona. The hotel was Built in 1917, and very fun to stay in. It's got a great location in downtown Prescott. Miranda, the front desk clerk was kind enough to tell us about the history of the hotel, which allegedly is haunted by a ghost named Abby. Abby was a woman who was 32 years when she died from TB in the 1920s. Apparently there has been lots of Paranormal Investigators visit the hotel over the years testing for paranormal activity. The hotel is beautiful in an historic way and the rooms are comfortable. We would definitely stay again! read more

Was finally able to give this hotel a try over the weekend and I will say that it was the absolute best location you could ask for. Literally in walking distance to anything in downtown Prescott. It's obviously a old, budget-friendly hotel so it definitely doesn't come with all of the amenities of a standard hotel but it was still and very cozy and comfortable room. Upon check in there was nobody at the front desk but they said to call a number for assistance and they answered quickly and overall it was great customer service. Room basically had everything you need especially if you are only staying for a night or two. Coffee in the morning was quite bad, but wasn't expecting anything super special. I would definitely stay here again mainly for the location. read more

So, I gotta start by saying everyone who works there we came in contact with was friendly and accommodating. Our check-in after a long drive was quick and we were soon down in the lobby bar for our free glasses of wine. It was very appreciated but if I could give 2 1/2 stars rather than 3, I would. We stayed here to save a few bucks over the place we usually stay at on Whiskey Row and while I love the ambience when older hotels keep a lot of the original woodwork, etc., I'm sorry to say a lot of it needs replacing and our bathroom especially needed a deep cleaning. I've attached photos to indicate what I'm referring to. I do appreciate the shower heads being tall enough for someone who's 6, 2" as well but next time we're in town, we'll switch lodgings. read more

Very cute and classic old hotel. Each of the rooms are decorated and furnished differently so each stay is a unique experience. The service is pleasant and helpful. Just keep in mind it's old and has been kept that way so this isn't the place to come for like a sick flatscreen tv anyway (but that's not what you should be doing in a cute place like Prescott anyway). Lastly, the hotel is supposed to be haunted which is fun for a spooky enthusiast like myself. They have the haunted room sectioned off and you can take a tour of it. I didn't personally feel anything too extra worldly going on, but it was still a fun and interesting experience. I'd definitely stay again. read more

Just got back into the valley from a 2 night stay here. (I had initially booked one night, and immediately went downstairs and booked a second night after I arrived) The price is unbeatable. The location is literally perfect. The amenities were much more than I expected. The limited access after hours & visible surveillance is great for a solo female traveler like myself. This hotel was a disappointment. There were two dim lights in the room and the room was very dark. Was using the flashlight out of my truck to function. They only have streaming services. No local news stations. They have a note telling you not to put anything in the tiny closet as the A/C will drip on it. They forbid you to bring in outside drinks. You must buy theirs. But when we tried they only had water at $4.50 a bottle. We left a day early and paid the cancellation fee. I would give 0 stars but you can't. It's a cute historical hotel. My second stay at the Hotel Vendome. I really enjoy the vintage properties and know right away what I'm getting myself into - not everything is 100 percent right, some of the fixtures are dated, but I'm not there just to snooze. I want some atmosphere to go along with it. The Hotel Vendome has that piece down in spades. Nice as well to be close to everything downtown Prescott has to offer. Walking distance to great food, the courthouse park area, and all the touristy stuff you can handle. The bed was very comfortable. Plenty of pillows and not the super squishy type that you have to stack one on top of another just to get your head at the right position. Bathroom I had the first stay was "period correct". The bathroom I had this time was updated. More on that in a moment. There are some things the hotel management and the City/County/State need to work on to preserve the Hotel Vendome while still retaining it's charm. The carpet throughout the first floor needs replacing. It can't go "all wood floors" because of the noise, but the carpet has reached it's end of useful life and needs to be taken out. Secondly, the upstairs balcony and the overhanging roof are in dire need of structural work. If it's not addressed soon, the property could reach a point of no return. Third - Get a carpenter and plane down each and every door - entrance, closet, bathroom - so that there is a better fit. Yes, doors are wood, and wood swells, but you can work around that by just shaving a bit off in the right places. Fourth, the updated bathroom I had is a lottery ticket for a litigator. No grab bars in the shower? That's a slip and fall just waiting to land in some 2nd rate lawyers lap - ol' "Slippin' Jimmy" comes to mind...... This, along with the balcony/roof really really REALLLLLLYYYEEE need to be addressed ASAP. Finally, there have been some grumble reviews smack talking the front desk. This is a very small, non-chain, boutique hotel. They run this place the best they can. I've not yet had a bad experience with any staff on-site and would be surprised to hear of a legitimate gripe. Oh, one last thing - a legitimate gripe - How is it that the front desk sells wine by the bottle or glass, but not bottled water? Prescott is a dry, desert community and a bottle of water for sale or in the room would be nice to have. Raise the price by $5.00 per night and include a couple of $1.00 water bottles in the room when you check in. It should pencil out in your favor. I'm looking forward to staying again at The Hotel Vendome - but will ask before booking to be on the first floor with a period correct bathroom. read more

I responded and they advised they would be closed at that time, but sent me directions on how to check in myself. We ended up getting there earlier than we expected and the front desk person was very kind and welcoming. The room was very clean and comfortable. Loved this adorable spot. It's perfectly off the beaten path but close enough to walk around downtown Prescott. The rooms are small but really perfect for 1 or 2. The bathtub was everything! We had room by stairs. If you are noise sensitive bring your earplugs. Paper thin walls, people walking through hall & up/down stairs late woke me. Also, bring your own TP because theirs is honestly the worst I've ever had. Worse than any gas station...it feels like party streamer. The coffee was good and you can have as much as you like. (and I don't like most hotel coffee usually bring my own) Very friendly staff :) Beer & wine available at front desk. Lastly, the decor is simply lovely. Loved this place!! I always prefer a cool, historic hotel to the chain hotels and this one did not disappoint. Location is superb, just a quick walk down to the Square and of course, Whiskey Row baby!! It's nestled in one of Prescott's cutest neighborhoods and surrounded by shops and restaurants. Check in was super quick and absolutely loved the ambiance. Creaky old stairs, that musty (but not too musty) smell, old pictures and antique fixtures. Super cool!! Our room was great and in my mind, any hotel with a claw foot tub is for me!!! We LOVED learning about Abby and her cat Noble. No ghostly hijinks for us and I'm grateful All in all, a great place to stay and learn a little bit about gorgeous Prescott. read more

Traveled up to Prescott for the night to see Jackson Browne in concert and decided to boom here as it was affordable and the location was perfect being a block away from Whiskey Row! I didn't knit until after that a) this was a historic AZ hotel and b) it's known to be haunted! While I did not encounter any paranormal activity, I did manage to meet some great guests, get a good nights sleep in a very comfortable bed and get to say I stayed there! The say the hotel is haunted by a woman and her cat. Who I didn't stay in room 16, I stayed in room 30 and noticed what appeared to be scratch marks on the wall! If you're ever in Prescott, I suggest at least spending one night here for the thrill! read more

I loved this hotel so much!! My boyfriend and I took a little trip here from Phoenix, not even realizing the history or the ghost stories. But we ended up getting the haunted room 16 where Abby and her cat Nobel lived. It was really cool reading the stories and history of what happened there. Other than the door not staying closed unless you lock it, there were no real paranormal experiences for us here. But I enjoyed the vibe going on during our stay. The staff was so kind and helpful! And the location is great for walking around Prescott. Only thing I wish was was different was the bed. Mattress was a little too firm for my boyfriend and me. Made sleep a little difficult and woke up with back aches. I would still recommend this hotel though if you're looking for something unique read more

We booked this hotel because it was relatively close to downtown and the price seem better than others. Upon arriving you are greeted with a two story historical building. Caitlyn checked us in and was super nice. It was busy and she made sure everyone was taken care of or knew they were going to be taking care of. After checking in, we walked up the crickety stairs to our room. It felt like we were taken back in time somewhat. They room was quaint and basic. If you needed a fridge, You had to use the community fridge. The shower/tub is the older claw tub. The bed and pillows were just okay. Not super comfortable and not super uncomfortable either. We did have a small encounter with the ghost but nothing scary, just saw the small orb light and the second night all the zippers were open on my BF bag. When we checked out, all was good. After leaving the hotel, I realized I left my ugg boots and they shipped them for my. I just had to pay for shipping, which is completely fine, I left them after all. Everyone here is wonderful. Don't stay in room #18, so small, no room to move. The bathroom wall has moved and the door is not aligned correctly, privacy using the toilet has been compromised. The claw tub has a curtain around it for a shower, the curtain sticks to you while showing, gross, germs. Water goes everywhere, no place to put your toiletries, you must put them on the toilet. The bed was very comfortable, floor heater is used to keep the room warm, I was afraid it might catch the bed cover on fire. Staff is A+, they are very helpful and attentive. I think the owners don't want to spend money to do repairs, want to save money. 5 minute walk to the plaza and restaurants, plenty of places to eat and shop, antique shops are plentiful. read more

While the Location is great and parking is easy to walk around the town center the accommodations were definitely sub par. This place has not been restored to its "Original Grandure" as it states on its description. The wood is literally rotting away all over this house. The carpet flooring in the rooms is a nightmare for anyone who is a clean freak. The lobby is the nicest part, quaint and charming. The price was comparable to a brand new hotel so I opted for the historic experience thinking it must be nice, that was a mistake. Towels and linen were clean, room had trash from last guest under the claw foot tub that I was looking forward to using but after seeing it I opted for a shower...Manager was nice. read more

Great little hotel adjacent to Whiskey Row. We looked around at other hotels in the area and we were not impressed. This hotel is more like a bed & breakfast and is owner operated. Nice clean rooms. Great little living / sitting area in the lobby for breakfast, or sitting at the bar (beer / wine service). The owner gave us a tour and was a really nice guy (Eric). Super fun times! Stayed here with my girlfriend and some friends during a recent trip to the Folk Music Festival. The hotel is quaint and cute and well accommodated. Our room was a suite and was two adjoining rooms connected to a bathroom, with doors on either side of the bathroom. Each individual room had a window, entry door, closet, television, and space heater. Check in was simple and straightforward. The hotel staff was very helpful and nice. There was coffee in the morning, though it would have been nice if there were some utinsils to make the breakfast oatmeal we had, though. The ambiance of the hotel is great, we didn't end up going to the lobby barre, though it did look welcoming. There's a nice coffee shop next door for breakfast snacks and more intricate coffee drinks. It was a great experience and I would be thrilled to stay here again! read more

This is an historic hotel in downtown Prescott. I would give it 3-1/2 stars if I could but I would rather rate it up then down. Pros: great location, nice staff, clean rooms and lobby, old hotel with a lot of charm. Cons: old hotel with charm but VERY thin walls and a bathroom door that scrapes the tile when opening or closing, restaurant next door plays music rather loud so we could hear it even though we were on the other side of the hotel. In other words, this is not a place to stay if you are a light sleeper but other than that, it's a nice place to stay. read more

My experience with the Hotel Vendome goes back a couple of decades. I have always considered it my home away from home when staying in the area of central Arizona. It has a lot of character for a century old hotel and a visit there will take you back to a simpler time. We stayed in the room above the lobby where the ghost kitty is reputed to haunt, but being shy, it stayed under the bed when we were there. There is a comfortable lobby with bar and relaxing veranda/patio upstairs for reading your favorite novel or just taking a nap. Has there been a management change or new ownership? I'm not sure, but the morning breakfast has been eliminated. Also, the facade is badly in need of repair and painting. Boards are warping, paint is peeling, it needs some freshening up. Aside that, the manager is still very friendly and the rates are very reasonable. If you don't like old fixtures, squeaky floors, an occasional drippy faucet, century old windows that may stick and other trappings of a hotel built before your parents were born...sterile cookie cutter corporate hotels are just across town. I hope the Vendome is around for another century. read more

This is the 2nd time we've stayed at this hotel when in the Prescott area.. there's no reason why we would go anywhere else - their hotel is beautifully preserved, well-maintained, antique; their service is better than any B&B we've stayed out and the location is prime.. pretty much the best spot to stay to enjoy Prescott. Their breakfast was continental but still quality; they are w/in walking distance to the courthouse park (which has activities every weekend); antique yet clean and well-maintained rooms... We don't plan on changing our hotel venue anytime soon... this is our go-to place :) read more

Very quaint hotel which has kept all the charm of hotels from the early and mid-20th century. It's location is perfect for hanging out in Prescott, as it's in walking distance of most entertainment in the city (okay, maybe not if you're wearing heels, as my wife would say -- but still very convenient). In some ways it's the perfect spot to stay while visiting the former capitol of Arizona, as it embodies the history so well. The rooms are not large, and the facility is in need of a bit of tender loving care, hence the 4 stars. It's a very homey feeling, with a small bar in the lobby (and I do mean small). Guests will sit on the front porch in the cool of the evening and chat amongst themselves. The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive. Ive stayed at Hotel St. Michael and Hotel Vendome in Prescott. I liked them both but I loved the originality and charm of hotel Vendome. It was a lot smaller and a lot less rooms than St. Michael. Vendome was very quaint with mostly original features, ex: the wooden window had to be propped up with a jar (we were creative with that) and the walls were very thin. An old-school coffee system in-room was fun to use and delicious but it's not a keurig! The lobby is super cute/quaint in the Vendome and they have a little bar and happy hour. They also have 2 porches with seating, one on the Lower level and one up top. Vendone was very very old and creaky but very clean, safe and accommodating. Beds were very comfy in both. Large bathroom in Vendome with lots of old tile. 3 minute walk to Whiskey row and a restaurant/bar with outdoor seating right next door--The Barley Hound,also recommended! read more

I have very long and storied history staying at Hotel Vendome. Dating back many decades before they reopened. They treat you like a million bucks and it's location couldn't be better. Many times, I stayed with a widowed buddy that lives in a huge beautiful townhouse in the Back Bay, Boston section. Located not far from Hotel Vendome But we're Both older and I prefer to use the conveniences of a full service quality hotel. I also used the Ritz-Carlton overlooking the Boston Commons many times too. The Hotel Vendome is only a few blocks away and it holds many pleasant memories for me. I whole heartily say, you won't be disappointed and the prices are relatively very reasonable! read more

What you would expect. We love Prescott and this place is in a fantastic location! Its a little overpriced for what you get but the experience is something you should have once I guess. Fun place and staff was great really. So nice and accommodating. Thank you for taking great care of us. My issue is the town festival that went on the weekend we stayed there. The event seemed to be a bust honestly, not much action. It was right in front of the hotel of which my room was closest to the street of course. Friday night they set up banging poles on ground and running generator until after 1 A.M. and starting again shortly after 6 A.M. not a huge deal as we stayed out pretty late but sure would have loved to sleep in a bit. I feel like the hotel should have given us a heads up. Would we stay here again? Not a chance! Do we regret staying here? Not at all. If you want to relax this isn't the place for you. The place is noisy as heck (old building which adds to its charm) and tons of traffic. If you want to be social and listen to people outside your room on top or bottom decks having fun then this is the place for you. Plus short walking distance to great bars.
