On my way…read moreover to a restaurant to meet up with a couple of friends, I briefly looked at the kids happily playing here on a warm Saturday afternoon. Three hours later, I walked back to my car, but took some time to check out this playground. It has a lot of tall, majestic trees and beautiful flowers. I admired the aromatic aster and had to stop to take a photo. So pretty! The tall trees make me think that this playground has been established for years. However, the climbing structures and splash pads indicate that this park has had a facelift recently. I liked seeing swings, both traditional and saucer-shaped. It's not a playground if there aren't any swings in my books. There was also a spinning rope pyramid, which looked challenging to me, let alone kids. This playground also has a splash pad. It looks like it has a cascading water feature to it, which would be great to cool off on hot summer days. This playground has a drinking fountain and a bottle-filling station. Whether you have a water bottle with you or not, you can stay hydrated after playing till your heart's content. The playground occupies at least half the park, which is unique and new to me. I grew up with Kew Gardens as my go-to park, which is huge. The playground at Kew Gardens occupies maybe an eight of the park. I liked checking out this playground. It's nice. I'm sure that it's gorgeous with the autumn leaves changing colour right now. (419)

With all the fall leaves partially on the trees and partially on the ground, it makes the park very picturesque. The large playground has a metal fence surrounding it to keep children in. It seems the playground is meant for children aged 2 to 10. Apparently it was totally renovated in 2018 so it still looks fresh. Dogs are not allowed in the playground. The main thing is that so many children are having fun and running around. They would be the main critics. Some of the children comes from a local Montessori school after classes end. The playground has swings (for different ages), two slides, a merry-go-round, and plenty of climbing structures. There are some (Green P) street parking along King St. There are no onsite washrooms.

It's a neat little area fun for kids and adults to measure oneself and to be silly. I really like the idea of taking what can be presumed as wasted space, and to inject some artwork and life, making the whole Beaches area that much more interesting. This isn't a park where you can run around and roll in acres and acres of grass, but rather, a small bit of distraction on your path to somewhere else. For those who frequent the area, drop by this small plot of land and have some measured fun! (1): http://www.snapbeaches.com/index.php?option=com_sngevents&id%5B%5D=12284

The trails on the north side of the park pass by residential back yards and are primarily dirt trails, which can get muddy after a rain. The pond is surrounded by a red mosaic-tiled sitting wall; of course, it had to be red in colour! Adjacent office towers get a high aerial vantage point to view the heart in its entirety. The park occupies 8,100 square metres (2 acres). This site used to have a circular eastbound off-ramp from the Gardiner Expressway, and was called York Street Park. The major concrete structure has been converted into a lush park. It is quite a departure from the concrete jungle of downtown Toronto. Two mature trees have been retained, and new trees have been planted lining the sidewalks along the perimeter. One of the trees, a Northern Catalpa tree, is on its own island on one side of the pond. There are bronze-cast native-Canadian animal sculptures around the park: beaver, bear, fox, squirrel, rabbit, opossum, owl, woodpecker, etc. On the southeast corner, there is an outdoor seating area, great for relaxation or a snack/meal break. On the northeast corner, there is a dog off-leash area. There are park benches and a water bottle filling station. There is no children's playground. There is no free WiFi. A few standout examples are: The Skate park is insane, a huge assortment of bowls, decks, ramps, jumps, with something for every skill level. The baseball diamond (lit one) is easily the best non-professional municipal diamond in the GTA, not only is the diamond itself well kept and lit at night, it also has a huge back stop, covered dugouts, ample seating and even caged bullpen areas for on deck pitchers to warm up. Really cool! Plus this is the home of the King City Craft Beer & Food Truck Festival occurring the first weekend of June each year. You gotta check it out!
