We have never dealt with anyone more competent or willing to go the extra mile than Stan Miller. We recently bought a 5 year old home in Palmer Ranch Sunrise Preserve. We had a number of projects we wanted to be done. Stan and his crew showed us there was no limit to their skills or enthusiasm to take on these projects one of which was complicated and required design and more skills than your average workers. It turned out beautifully. His crew did a great job painting and offering ideas that really helped us. Often when you hire skilled workers you rarely find them to be as willing to help as Stan's crew. The cost of their services is very reasonable and competitive. I hired Millers Maintenance Group to repair a small section of soffit. The quote was $70 but I was offered the repair and a power wash of the house for $200, which I accepted and paid for. Never was I given a written estimate for any of the work. The soffit not only was not repaired, it was made worse by the power washing, which also dislodged a small panel near the damaged soffit area. I then received an invoice/receipt for $175 for the power washing. I was then told that several soffit panels needed replacing and the cost would be an additional $100 because the material had to be gotten from a supplier in Bradenton and there was travel time and fuel costs involved. Yet the material was readily available at the Home Depot less than a mile from my house. I let Millers go and said I would post a negative review on Yelp. The response from Miller was to threaten a lawsuit of I posted a negative review. Avoid this firm. read more

Hired Miller's Maintenance from our realtor referral so thought he was good and reputable. They are horrible!!! Left our new home purchase for him to repaint, change out toilets, pedestal sink, lighting fixtures, faucet. To say his work is horrible is a understatement...!!! The painters did such a bad job I have to rehire another painter to redo. I feel Stan has NO desire to do good work. His contact and professionalism is NONE.... He is very argumentative with his customer and does not respect you. He is always complaining and made us feel like he was doing us a favor. He fights with his help and has very unskilled employees. This is going too cost my husband and I a small fortune to redo all his crappy work!! Don't believe anything he says and don't pay him upfront. We were never given a written estimate. That was stupid on our part I know. He just picks a number out of his head and then complains how much extra it's going to cost him. I truly regret hiring (Stan) Miller's Maintenance Group for an exterior house paint job. They were not very thorough or careful with their painting. Once they were finished, various people (neighbors, other service contractors, hospice workers, etc.) visited and noticed many areas of the house that had not been painted (step under front door, areas next to garage keypad, near front window, near garage door, downspout (and the part that had been painted was covered with overspray from the house painting). They also did not pull the mulch away from the house so that they could get below the level of the mulch when they painted the sides of the house. And who knows where else they might have missed. In addition, they got paint all over things like a garden hose, hose nozzle, 3 trash cans (including a trash can that one of his painter tossed a 5 gallon paint bucket into that had about 7 inches of paint left in the bucket, with a thick top layer dried, so that when he threw the paint bucket into the trash can, paint spilled out all over the trash can. Also, the painters took the carriage lights off of the exterior walls in order to paint, and afterwards when I tried to turn on the lights, a fuse kept tripping. Come to find out, the painters did not reconnect the wires correctly, and there were some wires they did not connect at all, including one of the hot wires, which did not even have a nut on it and was very close to the structure of the carriage light. VERY dangerous! $300 later, the lights are now back to working again. The painters also lost one of the nuts to attach the carriage light to the wall, so I now have a mismatched nut. Stan's crew also repaired part of the lanai ceiling (dry wall). It then started splitting and falling back down again about 5 months after the job was completed. There had been no water leaking down from the roof to cause such a situation. Poor quality work and/or materials. Also, the painters used some of my husband's painting supplies that were in our garage. Totally unacceptable, not to mention that they did not clean up what they did use. I just had to throw the items away. Two months after making several phone calls and sending texts, they finally came out and addressed two of the areas that they had not painted. Shortly thereafter I discovered more of the unpainted areas. They came out about another 2 months later, and then I noticed the downspout. I have since written to Stan about all the facts that I am currently writing about here, and I have not heard back. I wish they had done at least a once over, if not two or three times to make sure their job was complete, and wish they had thoroughly cleaned up. I also wish that Stan was more responsive to requests by customers, or rather that he and his crew were more attentive to detail, more professional, more respectful of others' belongings, and overall more worth their pay. I had gotten three estimates. Stan's tied with another business for the higher amount, so it's not even like I went with the cheapest estimate. I was expecting much more, but nothing unreasonable to expect for a paint job. read more

I'm very disappointed with a move that I hired Stan to assist me with. I had a large moving company hired, but Stan assured me that he would get the move completed successfully, and would treat my things "as his own". I took him at his word, lost my deposit with the other company($300), and trusted Stan to do right by me. My grandmother's 100+ year-old tiger oak dresser was irresponsibly packed, and as a result a portion of it cracked off during the move. Stan knew that this one piece of furniture was very old and very dear to me. It was not properly wrapped, cushioned, or cared for. This piece had been moved 6 times, and never suffered even a scratch. When I called him to discuss the pictures I sent him of the broken heirloom, he stated that it "could be fixed with wood glue". This dresser was made using wooden screws over 100 years ago. There were also boxes that Stan opened and carelessly repacked to cut down on the number of boxes I had originally packed, again resulting in family heirlooms being broken. One in particular was a glass Christmas ornament that I've hung on my tree since I was 2 years old. Not this year, or ever again. It was broken on the floor of the moving truck due to Stan opening my previously packed, fragile items, and carelessly being put into drawers, cabinets of dressers, and otherwise left unprotected. and There was more damage done, pieces missing, and carefully labeled boxes discarded and jumbled in either without being repacked(put into cabinets without any boxes or wrappings to prevent them from being jostled around during the move) I was horrified to see old family photos on the floor of the moving truck when the helpers I hired at my new home showed me the mess he had created. It will take a long time to recover from this move. Stan does NOT listen, he overextends himself to get as much work as possible, and he did not offer any compensation for the damage he had caused. I'm extremely upset, disappointed, and heartbroken over the way Stan Miller treated my irreplaceable belongings. I recommend not using this provider. I truly wish I never had. read more

I hired Stan Miller's team to paint the exterior of my house. I was a bit nervous, because one might think that a company that does only painting would do a better job. However, Stan has an experienced ex-professional painter on his team, and the job was done well for a reasonable price. I'm pretty picky, but the painter made sure that I was satisfied with the final result. He actually did more than contracted by repairing a gutter for free. The painter accidentally missed putting a second coat on a 2' x 8' section of wall, so I did this myself - pretty easy. read more
