We had alot of food trucks contact us. I choose Backwoods BBQ because they seemed very professional and didn't charge me for set up and things like that. I knew from years past there would be alot of people since the last food trucks before did not believe me and ran out of food. Anyways, we agreed for Jan 12, he said he would be set up and ready by 11:30am. Sunday morning I had text him that when he got here, just call me and I would open the gate and let him in. A few minutes later he text me and said that they had a flat and he was on his way to fix it. Hey, I get it. Stuff happens. Now what doesn't happen is he never contacts me back.....at all. He literally leaves me on read all.....day.....long. Today is Tuesday, he still hasn't contacted me to apologize for leaving 80+ of my guests hanging. Nothing. Unprofessional to say the least. My guests at my party asking when food was coming and I had no answers. Instead of having fun at my birthday party, I am scrambling to get food for 80+ people. Then, after talking to people that have used them before, this is a normal thing for them to "Just not show up". I get it, stuff happens. But let me know. If you can't make it, Fine! I'll go grab a bunch of pizzas! Call it a day! But to just ghost me all day, forcing me to wait because you can't just text me back? That is cowardly. I hear their food is great.....but how would I know.... https://m.facebook.com/Backwoodsbbqsa/

The gentlemen serving up the food were extremely friendly and even gave out samples of the brisket when we were trying to make up our minds. They got five orders that I came for prepared super quickly and got me on my way. The brisket is just fantastic, even the lean parts - so flavorful with a great tang. The mac and cheese was awesome, and my loaded baked potato was enormous. For the prices, this place is extremely reasonable and lunch (which left most of us with enough food for dinner) came out to less than $10/person. I love the down home, rustic feel of the truck and being able to watch them make all the food. They kept great music going the whole time, and overall, just a great food truck vibe and a welcome break from the work day!

There's a quest that one begins from birth to death, the search for perfect barbecue. To come even…read moreclose to it in our lives is to have discovered the fabled " Holy Grail." I always find the experience of eating barbecue to be a nod to our former neanderthal glory. Be it men who surround a table with hunks of brisket only to communicate using "grunts." Or ladies who forgo a napkin and lose their demure inhibitions. This is Texas and we love our BBQ. The only thing that separates this idea is what is good, even great bbq. This is subjective and varies from person to person. And you know what they say about opinions. "Bad to the Bone" a new bbq food truck in Southtown adds to that conversation with good flavors. It's basically a food truck that offers a simple menu of brisket, chicken, pork and sausage. From these you can choose a plate with one, two or three meats. With it comes your choice of two sides. For example they have a baked potato casserole and a macaroni filled with brisket. In addition they make bbq sandwiches but are in the process of fine tuning their menu. The prices are what you would expect from a food truck crafting bbq, well within range of what other places charge. I tried their three meats plate, a healthy portion I might add, which was really good. Some people prefer their brisket dry. However theirs was tender, smokey and juicy. Just the way I like mine. Not to be outdone the sausage and pulled pork choices were equally as good, rounding out the experience. I would remiss if I didn't include that they have outdoor seating, with accompanying bottles of bbq sauce on each table. While I really enjoyed all the items I felt the potato casserole could've benefited from a bit more seasoning. Either way "Bad to the Bone" delivered on all fronts. I like the (family)friendly vibe accentuated by country music. All the flavors are informed by people serious about barbecuing. The owners looks like they ride Harley's to work but are super friendly. Men: You can grunt while you eat. Ladies: Well, I guess a little bbq sauce on your face never hurt anyone. If you happen to be in Southtown for First Friday or just riding your Bird I would seek this food truck out. ps. Although it's b.y.o.b they do offer complimentary beer for customers.

The brisket is hot and fresh, the sausage is tasty and sliced just right and the chicken is grilled to perfection. The price is worth the ability to get an amazing plate for not a long wait. There's so many people so head out there around 5. They have nice picnic tables and sometimes jams playing. I recommend taking a sharpie as they allow people to write on their picnic tables. Maybe you are making a memory going with someone you love and want to save it and you can do that with a sharpie and AMAZING BBQ. If you can't find this place, it's to the left of big daddy's!
