Professor Angelus is more than just a respectable instructor-- his passion truly lies within seeing the growth in each and every one of his students. Alongside, Coach Stacy is kind, supportive and sincere. If no one else shows up for you, Ravlin will, and it's no surprise they were able to weather through the COVID storm. I would also highly recommend if you have children-- because I'm sure if I'm learning discipline, hard work, and getting a good nights sleep every night, your kids will too. Most importantly of all, this is not an "everyone is a winner" gym. This is a put in the effort, and you'll reap the rewards. This gym teaches you something society no longer wants to acknowledge which is perhaps the most important lesson of all-- how to deal with failure. Because we all fail, it's inevitable, and Professor Angelus does this beautiful thing where he gives you the tools to understand you can only go up from rock bottom. With that said. The BJJ gym is a clean, bright, big tumbling ground with another opening right next door for Muay Thai that has a boxing ring and bags. It's connected to a much bigger fitness facility that offers other sports and a smaller, weight gym in case you wanna tackle other training. They offer gloves and other essential gears if needed. Management is great, communicative, no BS kind of people. Highly recommend talking to either Coach Stacy and Professor Angelus and seeing what Ravlin is all about.

Self-confidence, physical fitness, patience, discipline, respect for others, self-defense,…read moreemotional stability... your kid will get all of this and more. Girls excel at this sport and actually out-perform boys until they are at least 10 years old. Start them at 6, and maybe add some muy thai or boxing etc at 9 or 10 too. Do not try to coach. Do not offer advice. Support without opinions, and maybe try it out yourself. Sit back and watch the magic happen... it will. Don't care if it actually helps in a self defense situation? Want your kid to be a pretend martial arts master? Become a "black belt" after 5 or 6 years? If that is the goal, you can get your kid into karate or tae kwon do or kung fu or whatever... Just make sure they don't try to use it in a fight with someone who can actually fight. And do not expect them to get the same lessons in humility and respect that they will learn first hand in bjj. Ravlin has it all.

He always had a smile, always greeted me warmly, and from day one, I genuinely felt like I belonged. The tagline is "jiu-jitsu for everyone," and he truly lived that out. Sadly, he has passed, and I wanted to leave something here as a testament to who he was as a professor. His passion and dedication always showed. He once said, "The best professor is a professor that's happy to be there," and you felt that every single time he taught. If you're thinking about trying something new or stepping outside your comfort zone, I really do recommend this place. Professor Ulpiano made it more than a gym. He made it a community.

My son started about 3 years ago in Tae Kwon do because he was being harassed at school. We started at another location until we met Master Julio at a tournament. My son has been at his school now for 2 years and I have nothing but positive things to say. Everything from convenient class times to how dedicated Master Julio is to all of his student no matter what level they may be. The school is set up in 3 levels the top being the Tae Kwon Do area, the middle floor is the waiting area and the bottom floor is for boxing and hop ki do(this is probably mispelled). The prices are very reasonable especially considering the amount of individual time he spend with the students. In addition to all of that...Master Julio is the best trainer/coach for competitive tournaments that you will find in Houston or probably anywhere. I highly recommend this school.

I have met so many kind, smart, and athletic people of all ages and backgrounds since starting, which is credit to the positive leadership and family community that Hai, Cruz, Jose, and many others have built over the years. I learn something new every day and am pushed to improve while smiling because I'm working hard and having fun. All of the instructors and classes for BJJ, Muay Thai, and Kickboxing are top notch. The reception lady was super nice and gave good info but the gym itself just sucks to be honest. I scheduled my first class today at 5:30 am. In my head, class should start at 5:30 am. Issue number one was when I booked it I was told I would get a confirmation text about my visit. Nothing! I checked my email. Nothing! So I still show up. She said be there 5-10 mins early I get that at 5:22 am. The whole gym is closed and no one there. I wait a bit because I used to work at a gym and I know sometimes people can be late. Guess what?! A white car pulls up. I'm like cool another student. Nope! Some white man who looked like he just got out of bed and gets out of his car. Does he greet me? Does he say he give me a moment let me get the gym set up? Nope! Just looks pissed off he's up super early and looks miserable and looks like he just rolled out of bed. Honestly I waited another 4-5 mins seeing if he would kind of get out of hiding. Nope just never saw him again. Saw the gym lights on. Didn't even see him unlock the door. Went missing for quite sometime. So I just left. This was supposed to be my first class visit and it completely was not what I was expecting. I'm pretty active already. Today I was going to rest more after slowly getting over something I caught from Labor Day weekend and was excited to try something to as a workout. But this place really is a disappointment.
