However, after working out through the week and in 100 degree temperatures...I absolutely love and looked forward to coming here every evening. Everyday is DIFFERENT!!! You will not experience the same workout twice in one week. Cardio Thursdays are intense, but worth the pain, the sweat, and the familia!!! I have NEVER once felt like an outsider even though everyone knew I was there for only a week!!! Kru Izzy is incredible and always encourages everyone to push for one more!!! There is enough parking to accommodate the staff and students. This is not a gym where the instructors are going to hold your hand. But, as a beginner myself, we are welcome. If you listen to the instructions and try your best, you will learn the proper technique and become a better boxer, athlete, and person. I also appreciate how Main Street has its own App. Zen Planner is an iPhone and Android application that allows patrons to sign-up for a membership, pay gym fees, and keep track of the schedule. I stayed for 5…read moreyears at first it was fun and enjoyable, but it soon became frustrating and downright uncomfortable. They hired people (mainly males) that made me and multiple other children feel uncomfortable, so I do believe they do not look into who their staff may really be. I was also groomed I'd prefer to not get into details but there was a much much older child who I now realized actually groomed me and my friends and was extremely inappropriate with us. Not to mention later on he was not even allowed in the restroom unsupervised because he had apparently asked multiple extremely young boys if he could suck them off.Now that me and my friends from there look back we realize that we were put in a unsafe environment. Not to mention the owners aren't exactly the best. In summary it was a good place but no longer is. I would not recommend sending your child and putting them through the same hell we went through. When I look back on the memories truth be told I am frustrated that the establishment was let go and that they allow things like what I've stated to happen. I hated that place and will never go back. P.S. You may notice there are many 5 star reviews well one thing to take notice of is that all of the good reviews are from a long time ago because as I states before this place is much different now than it was then.

Girls excel at this sport and actually out-perform boys until they are at least 10 years old. Start them at 6, and maybe add some muy thai or boxing etc at 9 or 10 too. Do not try to coach. Do not offer advice. Support without opinions, and maybe try it out yourself. Sit back and watch the magic happen... it will. Don't care if it actually helps in a self defense situation? Want your kid to be a pretend martial arts master? Become a "black belt" after 5 or 6 years? If that is the goal, you can get your kid into karate or tae kwon do or kung fu or whatever... Just make sure they don't try to use it in a fight with someone who can actually fight. And do not expect them to get the same lessons in humility and respect that they will learn first hand in bjj. I didn't get to try any of those classes but their equipment looked top notch. This will be my go-to Houston gym for the foreseeable future
