The owner David is extremely welcoming and is always willing to help out either by answering questions, spotting, training, etc. The same goes for Coach Drew who I was happy to have as my personal trainer. I wouldn't have gotten as far as I did with either of their help but more so with Coach Drew as he's the one that started my training and has kept tabs on where I was in my strength training journey. (He kept the sessions fun and I made great progress with him as my trainer ) As I said above, this is a small gym but it's got everything you need to get a good workout in and the owner and Drew are great trainers so you've pretty much got everything you need. I like that it was small because that meant it never felt crowded. You are able to come whenever you want because you'll have a card to get in which is what I've done a number of times when the gym was "closed". If you're looking for a smaller gym and great trainers, then I highly recommend you check out this place.

My first attempt to cancel was by email on March 4th, and I emailed again on March 16th when I didn't receive a response.I then went in person on a Sunday, as my contract allows cancellation in person. The manager, Lorenzo, was not there, and the front desk staff told me I could email him directly to cancel. I followed their instructions and sent the email. This morning, Lorenzo replied telling me that I cannot cancel by email and that I must come in person Monday-Friday 8AM-8PM -- even though I already went in person, and none of these requirements appear anywhere in my contract. My contract clearly states that cancellation can be done in person or by mail, with no mention of manager availability, weekday-only hours, or any other restrictions. Under the Texas Health Spa Act, gyms are not allowed to add extra cancellation conditions that aren't in the written agreement. The shifting explanations I received -- including in my recorded call with Lorenzo -- would not hold up under Texas consumer protection rules. I've filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General because this has now dragged on for nearly a month despite me following every instruction they gave me.It's a great gym overall, but if you ever move out of the city or need to cancel, be prepared for a stressful and unnecessary process. The facility is good, but the cancellation issues are simply not worth the headache. Stay away at all costs, Houston is literally saturated with so many gyms that this one is absolutely not worth the trouble.

The main entrance room has fridges stocked up with macro-friendly meals and snacks as well as energy drinks, protein shakes, etc. They also have Iron Sight merch that you can purchase. Right when you walk in (and even from outside), you can hear the music. Even with noise cancellation, you can still hear the gym's music so if that's not your thing, this gym might not be for you- it's all rap and latin music so at least it's not like a Planet Fitness playlist lol. This gym is very spacious (8400 sqft). There's a powerlifting side with lots of combo racks and 5 (I think) deadlift platforms. There's plenty of bars (TSS, OHP, etc) with all the kilo weights. Even when the gym is at its busiest, I never had to wait that long to get a rack. There's also a bodybuilding side where there's plenty of machines and dumbbells to workout with. And in the far corner, you have cardio machines and turf space to warm up. As for amenities, there are only two bathrooms and the only light source inside is a LED strip light (dark green). Personally, I like brighter bathrooms so I can check up on myself in the mirror before stepping back in the gym. I also wish there was an extra table or space to put my clothes down for when I change. But in one of the bathrooms, they have extra deodorant and perfume which is going to come in real handy because this gym does not have AC and the summers in Houston are brutal. The only places where this gym has AC is the main entrance room and the posing room (yay for posing room)! In terms of pricing, the initiation fee is expensive ($100) but the monthly membership is $65 and they offer discounts to students and first responders which is nice. In terms of the gym itself, I would give it a 4/5 but the workers and owner are 5/5! The staff here are all extremely friendly and always make you feel so welcome. Not to mention, everyone who works out here is always more than happy to spot/support you! During the signup process, I never felt conned or manipulated. They explained the prices and what the membership offered, but it was never a sales pitch. I know enough people to be on a nodding/fist bump relationship, and for those I don't there's warm fellowship/ community atmosphere there. The owner is one of the certified trainers, and is always greeting people and introducing himself to new faces. The music they play is mostly Christian, and any secular music is always inoffensive. The only complaint I have about the music, is that I wish they played more music from my high school years like DC Talk and the Newsboys. I've been a member of a few gyms over the years, but this is my favorite one by far. If you are looking for a gym, then this is a great place to join. God bless.

The instructors are well-versed in each of their low-impact, workout-exercise forms. I've attended Pilates mat, Mat Lengthen, Signature Barre (combo Pilates & barre & yoga), Define (oooh, baby!), Fly (silks) yoga, Flow (yoga), BB Bliss, BB Burn (ohhhhh, baby, baby!) and many of the 45 min. afternoon classes and 60 min. evening classes. I also took a Salty Yoga in the Salt Revival salt room! The only classes I haven't tried are those crack-of-dawn ones. Sending power to those ladies who workout before I'm awake! I am not, and have never been a ballet dancer. I am three months into classes at BodyBarre, and I can say that I am stronger, more balanced, and feeling better - because I'm moving small and large muscles during these workouts. BodyBarre is for ALL bodies, ALL ages. This is a place that truly welcomes, and encourages everyone. I would recommend anyone thinking of adding a little, or little more, or a lot of cardio to take a few BodyBarre classes at your own pace. For me, it was time to discover that I could do more for my health by adding some cardio in a fun, supportive studio. Locally owned, too! I had never been to a real barre class before (just Youtube…read morepilates videos for me), and I had thought that my routine had been sufficient for about four years throughout university. However! In class, the instructor gently adjusts you to have lovely form and proper technique, which really makes a difference in how refreshing my workouts feel afterwards (apparently careless technique when I did pilates on my own sometimes just sort of left me feeling drained after my workouts). Having to pay attention elegant technique makes pilates from more than an isolated sweatfest during the day, and makes it seep into other parts of my life -- i.e. I've started getting compliments on my posture by my mother (the ultimate accomplishment). It's not too difficult for those just beginning -- the instructors seemlessly transition from warmup to sweatbreaking moves to cooldown. On the other hand it's quite quite sufficient for those wanting a good workout, and I've been satisfyingly sore from their classes many a time.
