Bella Bogue (7.7%) very, very good!

What a GREAT microbrew! I had the good fortune to visit here a couple of weeks ago while in Beaufort visiting some friends. What was supposed to be a single beer and then on to dinner, ended up being many beers and grabbing a bite after MWB closed. The Bella Bogue and the Queer Beer were exceptional as was the crew at MWB, in particular Lynne. This is probably the best craft beer brewery I have ever visited and my only complaint is that it is so far from where I live. If you are in Beaufort and in search of a quality beer and some exceptionally fine people. You need to visit Mill Whistle!

I have been wanting to try this place for quite a while and I was finally able to stop by with their limited hours. It's tucked away down Lennoxville Rd in a warehouse building. They have retrofitted a small space complete with a mill theme and beer named with Carteret County drawl. While it is small, the space is done very well! They have apparel hanging for sale that actually looks good, the graphic work is nice. I'm giving them 3 stars because the bartender did not belong behind a bar, she did not know how to pour a beer every beer I saw had at least 1" or more head on the beers. It was obvious she had no idea because she then turned the CO2 off.... And... the beers need some work. The porter was the lightest I had seen, I actually thought she poured me the wrong beer, it tasted more of a brown ale. My husband and I tried a couple (after the head settled and we could drink out of the tiny tiny sample cups). I think they need to work on brewing because currently its on a homebrew level. I really want to see them succeed, a brewery is a great addition to Carteret County and I hope they can make it!

I love Mill Whistle! The beer is great. The beer names and labels are even better. And the brewery tasting room is a great place to hang out. Free snacks (potato chips, etc) are a bonus. Grab a beer and a deck of Uno cards and have a good time.

Great hole in the wall spot. Went to try sour beer for the first time and that was also great.

Had a kolsch and a wheat beer. Both very good. Excellent service, and I loved hanging out under the awnings outside.

This restaurant was busy, however we could still carry on conversations and hear each other from across the table. This is definitely a nice place for a casual date night or an evening out with your family. I ordered the crabcake sandwich. My boyfriend had the mahi-mahi and my son ordered the fish and chips. The portions were a very good size and we were grateful that we had not ordered starters. Never have I ever seen so much food on a fish and chips platter. My crabcake sandwich was very good. The sandwich was so flavorful due to the mixed greens tomato slices and remoulade sauce. My boyfriend really liked the mahi-mahi with the mango salsa, coconut, jasmine rice, and steamed vegetables. Has came with thinly sliced carrots and string beans. My son had the fish and chips.... Really fish and chips. This is the first time I've ever been somewhere where they don't give you fish and french fries.

On our table was the ever popular Blowing Rock Burger, a fresh tasting Mahi Mahi, a blackened mahi with mango salsa, sweet chili sauce coconut jasmine rice and vegetables, shrimp and grits, salad with steamed shrimp, but the show stopper had to be the Shrimp Mac & Cheese, a four-cheese cream sauce over cavatappi pasta with bacon & scallions & topped with fried shrimp. The breading was light and crisp and complemented the four cheeses so nicely.
