It's…read morequirky and cosy; the food is good, the service is friendly; and the bill will make your jaw drop - but in a good way. I was taken there recently by a friend who lives nearby. The exterior doesn't prepare you for what you find inside - not that much could. What you find is an intimate space, decorated in dark reds with baroque panels, rather like the sort of small 18th century opera house you might find in Prague or Salzburg. There are even little balcony "boxes" with tables accessed by vertiginous stairs (NB not good for long legged or tall people). The food is a mixture of French and modern European. There are vegetarian starters and mains, but the menu is heavy on throroughly meaty dishes, such as char-grill Lamb Steak, with crushed new potatoes, julienne vegetables and green peppercorn sauce, or chicken breast stuffed with minted minced lamb, herbal mash and Port wine sauce. I had the grilled Portobello mushroom, prepared with garlic and served with spinach and a roast pepper sauce; followed by roast aubergine strudel, stuffed with grilled asparagus and ricotta cheese, served with French beans and a tomato and basil sauce. Service was very pleasant throughout and I like the fact that they don't charge for a basket of bread. The prices vary depending on whether you book before or after 7pm; you'll save a pound on the starter and a couple of pounds on the main course if you go before. We had a very decent French vin de pays as the house wine. Pleasanter still was the bill - £55 (including service) for three people each having two courses, after 7pm. I'll definitely go back - or maybe try one of their other branches...

I came here a fair bit 10 or so years ago and had forgotten how good it is for the money. I love the ramshackle seating here and service is always friendly, if somewhat brisk. The dishes are all a little different from the norm, so it can be a nice experience to try a few dishes between a few people. I know that every review mentions that price, but the last time I paid The Little Bay a visit, I was actually surprised at the relatively high price of three people dining and a bottle of wine to split. It used to be very, very cheap. Regardless of price, the food is great here. The atmosphere has it's charm. The service is a decent standard. What is not to like?

His refined Continental European cuisine is reflected in his menu. The regular menu is supplemented by a prix fixe menu with some tasty choices. The individually crafted desserts are not to missed also. The service was impeccable by the suit & tie servers. With drinks came a board of house-made olive & raisin rolls. Our group of 5 started with a variety of appetizers and all were amazing. Highlights were the Grilled Cuttlefish, smoky in flavor over black wild rice and the twice-baked Cheese Soufflé. The soufflé had an amazing leek sauce. Our friend said her Roasted Jerusalem Artichokes was one of the best salads she's ever had. My son (restaurant namesake) went with a 3 appetizer array as his whole meal with Cheese Croquettes, Grilled Cuttlefish and the Devon Crab Tartare, which was a work of art and taste. The entrees were no less grand. My wife's Wild Sea Bass Fillet was perfect in every way. From the prix fixe menu, my Vienna Schnitzel was super crispy and accompanied by crispy roast potatoes & shredded cabbage. The schnitzel was topped by a rich heritage fried egg embedded with capers & anchovies with flavors that married well with breaded veal. Do not skip dessert! Though the BlackBerry Soufflé might take extra time, it is absolutely worth waiting for. The daily dessert was a Ginger Pudding, though in the UK, it's more a cake with vanilla ice cream and I loved it. For chocolate fiends, the Chocolate Pavé with Chocolate Crumble & Damson Sorbet is killer.

There was outdoor areas with lighting, but a tad too cold out. Cute areas though. They were pretty busy as well and luckily we got a good table. Wait staff were friendly, pace of service was a little slower than what I'm used to. Had to hail someone down quite a bit, but overall food was great. We started out with cocktails because there was a special, happy hour going on. Potted Devon crab with avocado guacamole and chicken liver parfait. Not sure why I expected the Devon crab to be hot.... but it was tasty. I craved a couple more pieces of toast. I got the duck leg confit with citrus sauce and my friend got St. Austell's Tribute Steak and Ale pie. The duck was delicious. Perfectly cooked, sauce went well with it. The Dauphinoise potato, I wanted more so badly. My plate was cleaned except for the bones. The steak and ale pie was not bad, my friend enjoyed it. We finished dinner off with their pistachio soufflé. I asked what was recommended for dessert, never had a pistachio soufflé before, and it was rich and sweet. Offset by the chocolate ice cream, which had a slight bitterness to it. Perfect combination. The table next to us got the chateaubriand for two. That looked amazing and had my mouth watering. If I'm ever back in the area, I do plan on making another trip hopefully.

This place definitely delivered. We sat outside in their pleasant garden. Only downside is it's not south facing so wasn't in the sun. We got a bit chilly after a while so we moved to one of their tables with a heater. Much more cosy. Service was very friendly. They brought some water and offered biscuits to our dog (always a winner). Food was excellent. The beetroot and burrata salad was particularly tasty and beautifully presented. Potted shrimp was also very tasty. It gets 4 rather than 5 because it is a little expensive. Worth it but still a bit pricey for a pub. We would definitely return if we were in the area as there were a lot of delectable sounding items on the menu.

First,…read morethere are only 14 seats (not to be redundant or anything; it's just that small), which means it books out weeks in advance for a weeknight table and months ahead for a weekend spot. Next, the eponymous place is headed by Marianne Lumb, a MasterChef finalist in 2009, and her merry band of restaurant ninjas: a sous, a dishwasher, and a front-of-house consisting of two whole people, who are always a delight. That's it. Other things you should know: - The space was obviously someone's front parlor until recently, which makes it amazingly cozy. - Prices are beyond reasonable (3 courses at £48, with cheese it's £60) and menus change weekly and seasonally. - The wine list is substantial. - There is a waiting list for neighborhood locals. They use it to fill out late cancellations. I've gotten the nod twice in about four months. - The truffle brie is divine. Ask for some honey and oatcakes to accompany it. All things considered, it's one of the best new restaurants in London. If I had written this after the first time I went in December, I would've said it was the best new opening of the year. However, having been twice since then, the dishes have waned a bit, but this could be attributed to the lack of variety this time of year. Hopefully it picks up again in the coming weeks. Last, I waited a few months to post this review, because I haven't wanted any additional competition. But since we're upping sticks and heading down south before long, I'll just say: have at it, kids! It's a great local spot, and Marianne and her team deserve all the support they can get.

The three course lunch is an absolute deal in this part of town, and the selection of courses from home made pasta, to duck confit (digne of a French brasserie) and vanilla crème brûlée to finish for those with a sweet palette. Upon request for wine recommendations, the owner immediately offered me to try different wines out of which I selected the best pairing for my meal. I could tell locals know about this place since they all greeted each other as they waked in. Perhaps the wine is talking now, but this place made the best of a Fall rainy day in London. Its interior is intimate, romantic, white-tablecloth elegant - the perfect place for a meal with that someone special or even a quiet business lunch. There's a really good set menu for lunch (served between 11:30 and 17:00): 2 courses for £15.95 and 3 courses for £19.95 - very reasonable considering the quality. I had the amazing Wild Mushroom Risotto topped with Parmesan to start. I loved it. Highly recommended. My friends started with the slightly bland French Onion Soup and a specially prepared, tangy garden salad (not on the menu). I moved on to their Sirloin Steak (250g) which, while tasty, was cooked more medium than the medium-rare I asked for. Like the delicious Stuffed Chicken Breast with Brie Cheese and Wholegrain Mustard Sauce which my companion had, my steak was also served on a bed of mashed potatoes and asparagus; mine with a lovely red wine sauce. The third member of our group didn't have a main, reserving space for a Banana Crepe with Butterscotch Sauce for dessert instead. I finished with the sinfully delightful Dark Chocolate Mousse. Service at La Cage Imaginaire was friendly and attentive thanks to a lovely Italian lady who had visited my home base of Dubai the year before. She was the life and soul of this cute little eatery, effortlessly chitchatting with each of the tables each time she visited them (which was quite frequently). It was so refreshing to have someone add that personal touch. The food at this restaurant is good but it's the service and ambience which convinced me to go back when I am next in London - worth a visit. Hey!
