This place is awesome. It is in an old mill, so it has these amazing old plank floors and soaring ceilings with wooden beams. I visit Waunakee once a year to see my family and I always make time to go to Mill House Quilts. It is a huge store, so it has a great selection. Everything is really neat and well-organized. They have bolts of premium fabrics and a wide variety of fat quarter packs. Plus, they have thread, buttons, quilt patterns, and books. For any quilter, I highly recommend stopping into this store; it is only 30 minutes from Madison and is very easy to find--just off of Waunakee's Main St. near the train tracks.

Hard to capture the vast selection in this place!

This place is HUGE. If you need fiber, this the spot. Heck, if you need merino, leicester, silk,…read morehemp, WHATEVER, she's probably got it. There are silk noil dresses to dye, there are antique knitting machines, there are tamari supplies, dread beads, bead crochet supplies, and all the spinning paraphernalia you could possibly dream up. I went in to get some supplies for felting--they have an entire WALL of wool in HUNDREDS of colors, from $2-$4/oz. I picked up three colors of merino to make some dreads to match my new hair (compliments of Aveda, Vici on the Library Mall--fabulous!). I don't know how long I was at this place, but I definitely fell down the rabbit hole. I even snagged some beautiful one-of-a-kind stone, bone, and silver beads, PLUS some lovely hand-dyed merino that was VERY reasonably priced in gorgeous tones of orange and yellow.. John, who was on staff today, was SO MUCH FUN to talk to.. I can't believe I've been living THIS CLOSE to a fiber shop of this caliber, and hadn't found my way in until today. Kicking myself for not finding it sooner. If you're into weaving, spinning, knitting, crochet, ANY of the Japanese fiber arts, beading, costuming, or small leathergoods-making, put this place on your list of must-sees. Driving out there, I assumed that it would be tiny and not have much of a selection--I was WRONG. This place is a hidden gem. DO check it out. And give yourself time to chat--the staff AND customers were a blast to get to know. So much knowledge and talent in one little place. I absolutely cannot WAIT to go back! :)
