There's a playpark and facilities for mobile caravans, washrooms and a tennis court and a small shop in the caravan sales park beside it. The beach is just the same as millisle beach but more peaceful with being outside millisle itself. The caravan park is quite big and there's usually always room for the touring caravans.

We checked into the Gigha pod and were pleasantly surprised to realise we were quite private as no one really had cause to wander around our pod for a nosey at these hobbit like homes. It was the furthest from the toilets mind you. The pods are specious, warm, comfy and have enough to get by with a fridge, kettle, heater, and picnic table with bbq metal square. I turned the table around and slid it against the back bench to make a double bed -2mattresses each, a fitted sheet duvet and pillows and voila, couldn't be further from camping. I was completely taken and surprisingly so was my fiancé. After checking out the next day we decided to hell with it and grabbed a last min availability in another pod for the night. This time in Aaron beside toilets showers and bins. Handy not to have to walk as far but you attract a lot of attention from curious people who want to see what they are like. We are already planning our next visit

When it is sunny however this place gets very busy, especially by the lake where people don't just picnic - and indeed BBQ - but kayak, fish, walk, cycle, and bring their dogs for a swim. There are plenty of amenities on site or very nearby, such as plenty of parking, clean public bathrooms, a small cafe, and a large shop within easy walking distance. There is also a huge maze for you to try and find your way out of and that alone could take up a good hour. Entrance fee per car is £4.50 - a bargain for a full day's outing. Tip: there are some rubbish bins but not a lot; people tend to take their rubbish with them. The grounds are kept exceptionally clean.

This advertises as a caravan park but it has many dozens of static mobile homes including the one I was in which has 3 bedrooms and is about 40 foot long. It might number in the hundreds of statics. It has spaces for caravans too. It's right on the beach with great views of the Mourne mountains. Despite it being July it wasn't pleasant as the breeze was cool/damp and the beach itself is a mix of stones and sand. The site normally closes at the end of October annually and re opens in March annually but with the Wu flu it's only really re opening now. When it's in full swing it offers an on site shop, cafe and a mobile fish and chip van arrives to satisfy hungry campers. If this review disappears I won't write another.

There are plenty of trails around to go walking, running, dog-walking, etc. We probably saw at least 10 people with dogs as we were walking around, and, yes, we wanted to play with all of them. The dogs, not the people. The area is obviously very scenic (it's a forest!), but there are also some cool ruins, lots of bridges, sweet stepping stones, and flowing water throughout. We spent more than a few hours here, I think, and enjoyed every bit of it.

Situated in Newcastle the views from the top of the hills are magnificent....you can see right down to the town and the sea. It costs £5 entrance fee for a car, however we have a yearly pass which is £50, this allows unlimited visits to Tollymore and also Castlewellan and Gosford country parks if I remember correctly. There are several toilet blocks, lots of car parking and usually a chip van and Ice cream van (more so at weekends and holidays). There is also a caravan/camping site which is reasonably priced and who wouldnt enjoy waking up to a view of the Mournes. Definitely worth a visit if you fancy a change from busy shops and towns.
