Fantastic and great orthodontic office. I came in to see Dr. Shiraki for new retainers. I requested to get a replacement because my retainers were getting fairly discolored. After examining my teeth, she recommended that I do not get a replacement because it was still in good condition. I like that she was really honest and informed me that it wasn't necessary at all. Getting, and choosing an orthodontist like Dr. Shiraki is worth every dollar. He corrected mistakes of a cheap orthodontist work, and gave me a million dollar smile that lasted throughout my life. Without any hesitations, one of my boys needed real orthodontic work, we got scheduled as soon as the next day. All the front staff are amazing women, like Doreen who is very efficient in ensuring dental claims are processed correctly, to scheduling any follow up appointments with convenient texting that we preferred. Dr. Shiraki is honest as well as upfront about the type of work needed by showing the specifics of why braces is or not needed. He also explained to us without using medical/dental jargon, the process of proper teeth or orofacial correction with traditional braces that I find more appealing than wearing something that covers my teeth letting bacteria growth persist with constant reminders to put on or off to eat. Than, another child of mine needed teeth correction, and they were so patient with us while working around our busy schedules. In addition, they are located at Mililani Town Center (on the same side of Assagio's) that is so convenient to us living on the Central side. Plus, there are family discounts, and they also sell at a very reasonably cheap price of oral B toothbrushes, replacement heads, toothpaste, whitening/cleaning products, and can work with you if cost is an issue. read more

Pretty friendly guy. Some days he can be a little grumpy especially during early morning check-ups. He's a stickler for regularly flossing and brushing to ensure your teeth are kept clean. My son had a very difficult case and even needed to have jaw surgery while he was doing his orthodontic treatment. Fantastic orthodontist and staff! They were able to get my daughter in the very next day after I called to see what they could do about a lost upper retainer and a broken bottom retainer. Dr. Shiraki was wonderful and worked with us on pricing and was able to mold and get her new retainers made right in the office. My retainers are permanent so I was afraid he would have to replace them costing me an arm and a leg but he was able to fix just the broken area! I took my daughter to Dr. Shiraki for a consultation because one of her upper lateral incisors came in crooked. There is a little crowding on the bottom as well (not extreme), but what Dr. Shiraki suggested during our visit was unimaginable! He proposed that he PULL one of her bottom incisors (front teeth) to alleviate the crowding...so she would only have THREE front teeth on the bottom instead of four! He has an album with pictures of young patients where he has removed one of the front lower teeth. YIKES! When he saw my reaction, he told me the alternative would be to pull FOUR teeth on the bottom to alleviate crowding. He also told me that the upper lateral incisor was a dwarf tooth and would need to be cosmetically altered after it was turned. I went to a different orthodontist. NO TEETH NEED TO BE PULLED! And that supposed dwarf tooth? Nope! It will drop in normally once a space is made and it is normal size. I am so glad I followed my gut instinct. Things are going extremely well with our new orthodontist. My point here is if you don't like what you hear, get a second opinion! read more

Dr. Shiraki is definitely the best orthodontist out there. I am a registered dental hygienist and I have been referring all of my patients to Dr. Shiraki for over 25 years! Seeing many patients who go to different orthodontists, I can tell as soon as the patient opens tier mouth who their orthodontist is. Dr. Shiraki's patients always have good oral hygiene, their brackets are always cemented on without excess cement globbing out of the brackets, and the end result is always exceptional. I appreciate how conservative Dr. Shiraki is and how he extracts teeth only if absolutely necessary. I also appreciate his honesty in that if he feels the work needed to correct a patients function (not only esthetics) is more than what he feels is "worth it", he will give his honest opinion of opting to not do the work instead of just taking your money and putting braces on you just to "get paid".
