Morita Orthodontics has two locations. My review is for the Aiea location. The office is located in the Mary Savio Medical Plaza at Newton. It is fairly easy to find using GPS and parking is available in the attached parking garage for a fee. I was able to get the parking fee waived at the front desk soon after I checked in. There is a small waiting area with 4 chairs. I assume some chairs were removed to meet the social distancing requirements. After checking in for our scheduled appointment, we waited for about 5 minutes before being brought back to the office. The office was littered with degrees, certificates, and other achievements by both Dr. Randal Morita and Dr. Scott Morita. Initially, I assumed they were brothers but, I can now tell it's father/son. Once back in the office, the tech, Connie, answered some questions and took pictures prior to the doctor coming to do his assessment. Dr. Scott came in and was friendly; you can tell he works well with children. When he was done conducting his assignment, he explained his recommendations and provided reasoning for those recommendations. Overall, it was a great first-visit experience. read more

It's been years since I've been to see Dr Morita however once a patient always a patient! I have fond memories when I got braces for a second time (once in high school) and again as an adult. The staff are amazing, professional and so festive. They make you feel like family and I have referred many friends and family to Dr Morita! They all come away with beautiful teeth - a great smile and a positive experience. Very poor service. The receptionist who answered gave me the feeling that she did not want my business with her responses. I called for a consultation days before and received no call back. When I reached out I let her know that I had called and left a message and she said they have so many many calls and they're working to my name. So I asked should I call back? She said no I can help you now. If they were so busy why all of a sudden she has time to help me? Then I stated that I wanted to get a consultation done. She then asked where do I go for my teeth and she said, "you know, they have an orthodontist at your location". I did not call for her to tell me that, I wanted to go to their orthodontist because I seen the 5 star reviews online. Then she began to tell me how they won't accept my insurance coverage. I told her that I was prepared to pay for it out of pocket. This lady was assuming things from her own mind without giving me the benefit of a doubt. Dr. Randal Morita took care of my daughter's teeth. She's now 22 and she needed both of her bicuspids rotated and he got it done as painlessly as possible. I love the fact that they have the Aiea location so we don't have to drive all the way out to Ala Moana because we're from the west side. read more

My teeth were never that bad but they started getting more crooked as I got later into my twenties. Dr. Scott Morita and his team helped me through the whole Invisalign process and I've gotta say my appointments were always pleasant and my teeth look great. Sometimes booking later in the day you'll wait a little a longer to get in the chair, but once you're in the team works you quick and efficiently. The best part about this place is the atmosphere. The staff is always friendly and Dr. Scott Morita is always happy and and in a good mood--and I mean always, even when it seems super busy and he's got a lot of patients, he gives you his full attention and concern when interacting with you. Getting retainers and braces is a bitch! Seriously I have difficulty breathing, eating, and swallowing. Plus, nobody told me before I put these things on how time consuming brushing and flossing will become. To think I have to wear this for 1 1/2 years- oh no!! What makes this a better experience is when you have a great team working on your teeth! The staff here are all very nice, professional, and patient. I almost fainted because I couldn't breathe when putting the railroad tracks on and the person working on my teeth was so understanding. I get clausterphobic so when I was having a "moment" she didn't treat like a crazy person. Also, braces and retainers are quite expensive. The office is willing to do what they can to help you afford to make straight teeth a reality. My husband first came to Dr. Morita to fix his teeth. He did not maintain his previous high school brace job and needed to some fixes. Dr. Morita was highly recommended by my regular dentist. We were so happy with his experience I decided to straighten my teeth too. As for me, I always wanted braces growing up and the weird thing is I didn't even have braces worthy teeth. They were quite straight. Not only that, the bottom line was that my family couldn't afford them even if I wanted them. As I aged, my bottom teeth moved and now they are now a crooked mess. My 8 year-old daughter was referred to Dr. Morita by our family dentist because her teeth are too crowded. I'm pretty old school and still believe that kids only get braces once all their adult teeth are in. Apparently that is not the way things are done anymore. According to Dr. Scott Morita, orthodontists are now more proactive in the way they treat their patients. They try to avoid having to pull teeth unnecessarily so now they fix the problem of over crowded teeth while children are young. At first I was hesitant to spend that much money for braces on my daughter's top teeth especially when you consider that she only has 3 adult teeth there. However, Dr. Morita did I good job of explaining the hows and the whys to his approach. I also appreciate how great he was with my daughter. You can tell he truly enjoys working with children. His staff was super friendly as well, both front and back office. Connie did our initial evaluation during our free consultation. She was very personable and did a great job breaking down what insurance will and will not cover and what our cost share will be. They are good at what they do so their afternoon appointments are pretty hard to get. We initially had an appointment for two months out, however, I received a call from Connie once I got home. She was able to get us in on a cancellation for the next day. My daughter's braces look great! After 2 weeks, we started noticing that her two front teeth don't protrude as much. Overall, I highly recommend this office. Don't lose heart if you can't get an appointment right away. Just ask them to contact you if there's a cancellation. My son went to Dr. Morita and Dr. Scott when he needed "phase 2" treatment. We are a military family and he had gotten braces in Illinois when he was around 9 years old. He is now in braces again, top and bottom. He's had them on for about a year and a half and we have already left the island for our next duty station. We cannot stress enough how awesome this practice is. They definitely work with you as far as budget, payment plans, etc. Everyone at the office is always so nice, too. I got my first round of braces here over 10 years ago. But 3 lost retainers later, with crooked beyond repair teeth (oops) and a slightly off bite, I'm back again to get the smile of my dreams. I got metal braces again for the second time yesterday morning. A lot has changed in the past 10 years, except for the customer service. The customer service is still outstanding and I love working with Dr. Randal Morita. His assistants are also very kind and easy to talk to. He now works with his son Dr. Scott Morita, who I overheard working with patients while getting my braces and he sounds very fun and approachable, compared to his kind, gentle, but mostly-business father. I wouldn't mind working with either doctor, but of course, if you're looking for a very experienced orthodontist, go to Dr. Randal. The procedure was quick and as painless as possible. They skipped the braces care tips since I'm already familiar with them, but they did still give me a goody bag full of all the things to help make sure my mouth stays in good shape. They helped to give me suggestions for what color bands to get on my braces since I'm not a middle school kid anymore, and I have a job where I need to look more professional. When I last came here, I had struggled to find parking some days, but now the old lot is closed and there is a new parking garage that is open with plenty of stalls. I parked in the garage for my visit. Since the procedure took a little over 2 hours, I had to pay $5 for my stay that morning. If I had been under 2 hours, I would have had to pay $3. This was with validation, mind you. It's kind of expensive if you ask me! I'm contemplating parking nearby and just walking over for my next appointment. The funniest part was that not only did Dr. Morita remember me from all those years ago but they still had my old file - picture and all. A little embarrassing, but pretty interesting to see how much you've changed - not that many people will experience what I had to go through! One of the best orthodontists I have ever seen. Their staff is super friendly and the whole atmosphere is fantastic. I love that it's run and owned by a father and son team. Dr Scott and Dr Randall are extremely friendly and easily explain what your treatment will entail and why. This is my third time around getting braces, and this has hands down been the best treatment I have ever received. The treatment room is a bit crowded but comfortable. Best ortho EVER!!! I was a patient when Dr Morita first started & trust him so much that I bring my children to him. The funny thing is even almost 30 years later, he remembers me, too! So does the office staff. I got my braces on when the office was at Aiea Medical, then later they moved over to Newtown. Looks just the same! The Ala Moana location has definitely gone thru changes! So nice & bright! Although you may love to hear about the office aesthetics, let me talk about the staff. Dr. Morita has the friendliest, knowledgeable staff. Plee has been there from the very start. She is funny & always makes you feel at ease. Susan seems to always know exactly what you need when you call. The rest of the staff in the back always remember what's going with you & make you feel at ease. Parking at Ala Moana is easy. I just park at the mall & walk over (always a good excuse to shop). Newtown is a pain now that they are doing construction for the parking garage. I believe there is valet parking available. Best office staff Ive ever encountered, anywhere. I've routinely gone in for checkups for my braces and every single time the entire staff is friendly and happy. **I fly all the way from Tennessee** There really are no words to describe how AMAZING Dr. Morita and his staff are! I've been a patient for over two decades and have never had a bad experience. A great staff that is always friendly, prompt, and inviting.
