I've been in several time - we are part of a running group that Josh and this store help support. I love this store! Great location and easy to get too. Selection is always good even in wider shoes which I need. There is a lot of attention and they are very careful with making sure you get the right shoes. The place is super clean as well. I encourage you to look at things like compression gear especially if you have any plantar fasciitis issue - the OS1st line is great and has helped me a lot. My feet have been hurting for a week and I found Mile 26 online only because I was looking for a store that could match my feet with the right shoes. Mile 26 had a foot analysis machine on their website so we went to check it out. Instead, the owner checked how I walked and pulled out several different options. After trying on different styles and brands, she matched my foot with the exact shoe. Amazing difference!!! I've been a long time shopper at this store. I've made it a point to buy local and support our running community even when I can find the same shoes cheaper online. I recently bought some shoes that ended up having a manufacturer's defect. When I came to the store they told me that they could not help me because I had bought the shoes over a month ago. They told me to reach out to the shoe brand myself and deal with them. When I asked if they could help they told me they would not. While I understand the stores return policy it would have been nice if they had helped me with the process rather than shrug their shoulders and tell me to handle it myself. I could have saved money by shopping online and I would be have gotten better service if I had purchased at REI, which is where I will be buying my running shoes going forward. read more

I've been getting my shoes from Mile 26 ever since it opened. The owner, Josh is great and well known in the Ventura county running community. I took a hiatus/break from running but recently took it back up. I knew I used to pronate and have a tendency to heel strike which would irk my knees, so the sales rep analyzed my walking and recommended me various types of shoes + provided explanations for the rec's. She was a runner herself and was very nice and knowledgeable. They didn't have my specific size in stock but no worries, they were able to get in the order and had several color selections. I have been out of running for a bit with some knee pains and really tight hamstrings, and I am finally feeling it's time to strap back on those sneakers! Then I realized I truly needed some new kicks to get me going! Went in on a late Tuesday afternoon, and was immediately impressed! The girl, I don't recall her name :(, had such advanced knowledge and an eye for my walk and run, it was unbelievable. I love the customer service. I took my wife for running shoes. Josh spent over an hour working with her. She's run in her new shoes and she simply loves them. Because Josh was so awesome I asked him to check my running shoes. I told him I had pain on the outer lower leg. He didn't know what caused the pain but he noticed my shoe fit could be improved. He provided me a recommendation and order shoes for me. He told me I didn't have to buy them if they didn't work out. He also indicated they would be about $40 less than the shoes I currently have. I've run in them one day and the pain in my leg was significantly less. Not only was able to do the complete run but me feet feel so much better. I have two kids in high school both cross country & track. Previously we typically purchased from Big 5 however with these sports, we were encouraged to buy higher caliber running shoes as my kids were running more than 40-50 miles/week. Although I initially had a little sticker shock, I could see the shoes were better, staff took time to fit my kids in the right shoe and took as much time needed to find that shoe. I came here to buy a new set of running shoes and was not looking for anything special. The staff here are very knowledgeable and will take the time to watch you run outside the store to figure out what kind of gate you have and what shoe works for your needs. I was disappointed to see a small selection of shoes to choose from and the store associates believe and will tell you, when deciding which shoe to pick, don't worry about looks and price but pick a shoe that has the right support. I'm gunna blow the B.S. horn here and say that I don't want to go running in a pair of shoes that look ridiculous and cost a fortune. As a helpful suggestion, I think a treadmill with a low camera would be a great asset for the store because you could show the customer how their gate was corrected by the shoe they chose or what works best. read more

I was referred to Josh Spiker at Mile 26 by my Podiatrist to get proper walking shoes. WOW, what a great experience in having a knowledgeable professional help you with your correct shoe selection. They even have a treadmill and can video your particular running gait and compare different shoes, one against the other, on a simultaneous screen as to which shoe is the best fit for your particular gait, ......... really high-tech!! They certainly had an adequate supply of shoes and, if necessary, could get anything that you wanted within days. In my particular case, I didn't care for the color that was the "right shoe for me" so they showed me all the other colors that it came in, and within two days they got the color shoe that I preferred. I thought the days of having a professional who knows how to properly fit shoes were long gone, Mile 26 Owner Josh Spiker has certainly changed my mind.
