We both had the butter chicken lunch special, which comes with naan and rice, and shared an appetizer veggie pakora. I really enjoyed this! We both have average to smaller appetites, so we finished our meal but still had leftover naan and pakoras to pack home. The restaurant was doing a brisk business in take-aways and deliveries but the small (but comfy) dining area was empty. It was a bit chilly so I kept a layer on. The menu was wide but not too many, the sign of a good kitchen. The vegetable samosas were huge, cheap and excellent with the right amount of spice. I ordered chicken kadhai and aloo palak, and asked for the "hot" spice level. They were almost perfect.. just a smidge too salty but not enough to lose points. Lovely mango lassi too! Large portions! Affordable!

With the lamb dosa, I've taken to bringing a container, which I'll empty my filling into, make sure to eat the dosa while it's crispy before we leave, then have the rest of the filling with rice at home. The gulab jamun is great too! I really need to bring more friends so they can help me try more things on the menu. We went for Greek selections and ordered a Calamari appetizer and Chicken Souvlaki Meal. The portions were very generous with 2 skewers of the souvlaki. The calamari seemed to be lacking in taste but at least there was plenty of tsatsiki and it wasn't rubbery. I liked their tsatsiki because it had plenty of lemon and garlic but a bit too much dill for my liking. (My brother didn't like his tsatsiki because of "too much" lemon but this is not his Yelp account so there's that!) The chicken was well marinated but it was overcooked and therefore dry. There was plenty of nicely seasoned rice and potaties. This resto is close by and they have other cuisines to offer (Indian and Afghan) so we may come by and try out the others.

I had a moment with the buffet like the song from Alica Keys "The Piano and I" with Beethoven Moonlight Sonata's intro theme going on. But it was the "Buffet and I", it was memorable. Again, their tandoori chicken was so smokey and well executed. The butter chicken was very tomato based that day and the moist chicken breast was super tender. I appreciated the mint sauce, tamarind chutney, fruit salad and the rice "dessert". I don't recall the price, but it was about $24 plus tip/tax for lunch buffet now.

It's clear thought and care has been put into the experience here. We were seated immediately by the friendly host/server. We ordered the recommended Gobi 65 cauliflower appetizer, garlic naan, our standard Butter Chicken, and the house specialty Chicken Chettinad (all medium spicy on the 3-point scale we were offered). Everything was absolutely delicious. The Gobi 65 was pretty spicy relative to the other dishes but still soooo good. To our surprise the Chicken Chettinad was the standout dish and one we'd highly recommend (and would order every time we return). Excellent experience overall and a place we'll definitely include in the local rotation. Highly recommend!

This does seem to be a highly recommended place to eat Indian food in Surrey. I had the Non-Veg Thali, which isn't on the menu, but the waitress helpfully let us know about. It's very customizable - and I went with garlic naan, rice, two tandoori chicken pieces, lamb vindaloo, and shahi paneer - all in a single plate! Pretty much everything was excellent. I'm not even sure where to start. The garlic naan was fantastic. Soft, buttery, with just a slight hint of garlic and lightly charred on the outside. I could honestly eat this by itself and be satisfied. Garlic naan is a staple of what I order whenever eating Indian food, and this might be the best one I've had. The shahi paneer was also great; tomato-forward, creamy, and the paneer was super soft. The lamb vindaloo was a real standout. It was immensely flavorful - not lacking for spice at all - but you don't just taste capsaicin - you taste all the cumin, cardamom, and garam mixed in with the curry. But the lamb itself is the best part of the curry; it's so tender and juicy. The absolute peak, though, was the tandoori chicken. These were two large dark meat pieces, which were cooked to absolute perfection - retaining so much juice and fat. The skin was a perfect deep orange, seasoned with a ton more spices. It's like eating fried chicken but without the breading, but this was arguably even better. The masala fries were the only thing kind of a miss - as they lacked any masala. The price of the thali was only 23 CAD. That's a pretty insane deal for how much food you get - I was unable to finish everything on my plate despite being very hungry. Honestly two people could share this and be satisfied. When you consider how much sharing and new orders for bread, rice, and curries goes on at your typical Indian restaurant, this is crazy good value. Overall, I would classify this as the best Indian food I've had outside of Asia. 9.5/10
