Yesterday, I had an appointment with The Office of Dr. Mikhail Berdichevksy. There is the reality of how my teeth looked prior to my visit. Then, there is the reality of how my teeth looked after my visit. To tell you the truth, it's as if I got new teeth. I looked in the mirror at my teeth and was surprised. My teeth were shining like a new paint job with new polish finish on an older car. It was a new smile. I've never had such a positive experience following a visit to the dentist's office. Not only were they very clean, there was a very good feeling accompanying the new clean look. After the appointment, I went to the Babushka Store in Walnut Creek to buy borsch. I warmed up the borsch at the house about ten minutes to eat with these new teeth. There were no problems: unaffected by temperature, unaffected by wind. What is there to say about the upstanding staff? I don't know. They are a part of the office team. My experience with them was very good, as always. I look forward to reconnecting with them later. Worst dentist I had ever seen in my 60+ years. This was my first visit. He looked at my teeth for 2 seconds, did a cleaning for ten minutes and that was it. He was extremely rude and unprofessional, and make me feel very uncomfortable. I would not recommend using this dentist. He did not ask me about any history, nor offered to take initial xrays which is standard practice for a new patient. He was also not accommodating when I asked him to manually clean my teeth, as the electric cleaning machine is too much on my sensitive teeth. He said "I do not do that" and asked another patient, "was it so bad". Like I care what the experience of the other patient was? There is also little privacy and separation between the various chairs. My recommendation is to stay away from this dude. read more

Notice there are no little spit bowls or water for rinse on the sides of the dental chairs. Notice how the dentist does nothing comprehensive when you come in as a new patient. The dentist told me her could rebuild a tooth (not an implant-no!) from just the root leftover in my gum that he left when he pulled out my broken tooth. When questioned about this left over root and what to do, he got very annoyed. I asked if I could rinse my mouth after the piecemeal extraction and bloody mouth. Dentist said no, left me sitting and when I asked if he was done, he came over threw gauze at me and said 'no medications for you' and then walked away and treated the next person. If you have ever had really good dental care by a dentist (and I don't mean elitist, I mean quality), you will immedaitely know you need to walk out now. read more

PLEASE AVOID. I literally never write reviews, but this was hands-down the worst visit I've ever had to a doctor. His metal motorized "cleaning device" was so harsh and painful. I had to ask him to stop multiple times before he finally took it out of my mouth. Half of my mouth is sore and the other half is not clean. I had to ask him to floss and he didn't do my entire mouth because I told him he was getting floss string stuck in my teeth. The polishing took less than two minutes. He hastily painted fluoride in less than 20 seconds all over my teeth, tongue and mouth area. Then there were his inappropriate comments. He called me "honey" throughout the cleaning in an uncomfortable way, compounded by the fact that he was inches from my face without a face mask on. He told me I didn't need to see my X-rays because I was healthy -- and then in front of the entire office, again told me i again didn't need to see the X-rays, and that I should enjoy my life because I was young and healthy. He was also so rude to several other patients in the office about Medicare. I'm not sure how he still has a business. Please avoid if you care about your oral health and your dignity. read more

If you love uncomfortable pain and are masochistic, visit this trash collector of a "dentist". He spent 4 minutes 47 seconds (yes, I timed it) to both remove plaque via ultrasonic descaler and then polish my teeth. I spend more time brushing my teeth daily. It's been almost 4 weeks since going and I can still feel my gums trying to heal. This is malpractice -- crystal clear. Not only do I not recommend this place but I've reported him to the Dental Board of California. He should not be able to treat people that way (my wife and I visited at the same time and received the same horrible treatment) or attend to people at all, unless he's picking up their garbage bins. Visit was the worst of socialized medicine. I believe they tried to take advantage of my insurance and possibly others and did not how my insurance benefits worked. Had an appointment at 3pm did not get into chair in office till 5pm and was made to wait in hall with other waiting patients. People were waiting in cold hall including a woman in her eighties with care provider. In office they took needless X-rays then sprayed water over teeth (less pressure than my water pic) indicating that was my Prophylaxis then a mouthwash as fluoride wash (read; sent me away with NO cleaning and sure they wil try to charge insurance). Totally outrageous. Then looked at their on-line profile finding 1 or less stars throughout every office this dentist works. Also, in-office was not hygienic, debris in sinks, dirt edged cabinets throughout. I will be going to another dentist for cleaning and to have a broken tooth fixed (which was why I went and neither item was done) and suspect Dr. Mikhail Berdichevsky, DDS 4444 Geary Blvd #303, San Francisco, CA 94118, USA might bill for both items with needless X-rays which I might consider, though I am not an attorney, fraud. I called my insurance having conversation with carrier about experience and believe they and I will contest any billing from this office and have written about experience. I was a patient of this Dr for a couple of years. I was dreading every visit - he was shaming and blaming me for my extra sensitive teeth and suggested me to take valium before my dental visits. Besides being rude, he also did several fillings that didn't stay long and fell out. He did a crown on my front tooth and my tooth was hurting under the crown. When I complained about it I've heard the same - "everything is done correctly, there is nothing we can do, if it hurst just take a valium pill." Finally, I went to Mexico to see a normal dentist that I can afford without insurance. When Dr Berdichevsky found out about that he was doing my teeth cleaning. He kicked me out of his practice without completing the cleaning. My crown has to be re-done in Mexico. Every visit I get enough anesthesia and nobody suggest me to take valium. Moreover, they told me that extra sensitive teeth are not my fault and I don't have to be terrified when I visit dentist! Dr Berdichevsky is a butcher and an abuser. It looked like he was enjoying treating me this way. I am still having PTSD after being his patient and considering going to the court. This dentist is a one of a kind. His staff is special. His compassion and care is unique in this affluent area where a cleaning costs 200+ dollars. He has been recognized more than twice for his extraordinary efforts to serve SF's citizens, rich or poor. Medicare, Medical or the finest PPO. There are the letters from Mayor and Supervisors to prove it. He only works 7 days a week. He is a senior citizen, like myself, but he has the energy of a 20 year old. And, his rates are fair to more fair. They do not include a glass of wine while you wait or an office with a view of the Eiffel Tower but He is the best dentist i have ever had. Facts: He is gruff. He is not your Sunday morning smiling host. But, what's important to me is that he know's what he is doing, he does it well and at a much lower cost than you will find in, well, Pacific Heights or Tiburon. And, when you get to know him, you understand what a big heart he has. Fact 2: No appointments. What? No appointments. Call his office and talk to Victor..who practically runs the place by himself, and he'll tell you the days, hours and best time to come in. But you will not get an appointment at 9:20 on Wednesday the 19th. You come in, earlier the better, grab a seat and you will be called in...10 minutes later or 90. Bring a book, charge your phone but do not bring your impatience. This is his office, he serves a million people, you will be taken care of and you will, in the process meet half the gringo (like me), Ukraine population in SF. And others. It's a little United Nations in there so be patient, bring your own wine or crumpet and you'll be glad you did. He is a trained anesthesiologist from Ukraine, many years ago. He then got his DDS license here years ago, he is trained for implants. He has done 6 root canals and 10 crowns for me in the last 2 years (I grind) and they were all done well. I called to make a dental appointment, but the experience with the male receptionist was very disappointing. He was rude, lacked basic customer service, and spoke in an unpleasant tone. He cut me off, didn't seem interested in answering my questions, and wasn't willing to listen. After I finished booking, I tried to ask a follow-up question--but before I could finish, he hung up on me. I haven't even been to the clinic yet, and the service is already this bad. I had a very disappointing and concerning experience at this dental office. I came in for a root canal, but the dentist told me he wouldn't do the treatment unless I agreed to have two of my other teeth removed -- teeth that were not even close to the affected one and that I had no issues with. I clearly told him I did not want those teeth removed, but he refused to proceed with the root canal unless I agreed. What's worse is that my brother went there for a simple cleaning, and without asking for his permission, the dentist pulled out one of his teeth. No explanation, no consent -- just did it. This kind of behavior is not only unethical, it's dangerous. Dentists are supposed to listen to their patients, explain options, and respect their decisions -- not pressure them into unnecessary procedures or perform treatments without consent. With all my due respect maximum that this office could get is one star and I would highly recommend you to check the Business Dental licensing (see attached picture) prior visiting this business. Old school rudeness and "I didn't do it!" attitude blaming someone else for doing a crappy job is very common here, as the owner dictates the rules and staff follows. Horrible service of adding two crowns to the upper dental bridge was very unsuccessful. Patient basically lost the entire bridge as it became useless by not fitting back at the previous position. Dr.Berdichevsky cut the holding hook off to fit the bridge back in and then said - I didn't do it! Just pay for my services, as insurance does not cover what I've done. Rude receptionist, took the cash and did not provide any receipt. After investigating further, we found out that this office has license that is expired in March 2023, which basically restricts them from providing any type of services. On three different occasions, my family dentist and the two varied specialists he would send me too have said that they would be unable to save my tooth and yet Mr. Mikhail Berdichevsky, prevailed to save all 3 of these teeth the other experts said was impossible. I would give less than one star. This was not care. "Dr. Berdichevsky" did a "cleaning" in about 5 minutes. My lip caught in the Dremel and made me bleed, burned my cheek from the hot dremel, not to mention my hair was wet from the water dripping out of my mouth. He kept answering the phone during this cleaning and then put his hands back into my mouth. The odd thing, he kept answering the phone "Dental Office, just come in", no appointment times or the name of the practice. I went in for tooth pain, but after that "cleaning"...I left (almost RAN!) There was no way I would let him drill into my tooth! Avoid at all costs! I wish I would've looked him up before I went in. This location was at 120 La Casa Via, Suite 105, Walnut Creek. If I could rate this person less than 1 star, I'd give that. 1 star is a much higher rating than he deserves. I brought my 97 year old mother in to get her teeth cleaned and get X-rays. We were called in by a "hey you" being yelled from down the hall. The cleaning lasted 5 minutes. Literally....and this included the walk to the chair from the waiting room. What kind of cleaning was that? It wasn't. A few courtesy scrapes then she was handed a small cup with water in it and told to spit it out in the sink that was in a common area. He then sent us back to the waiting room to wait for "his associate" to make the X-rays. My mother was called in and then I got another "hey you" from the hallway, to come to where she was, to discuss the findings. To my surprise, the "Dr" (and I use this term very loosely) was holding a passport sized X-ray of a single tooth. What??? That was his version of getting a set of X-rays. He said the tooth was broken, which we already knew. He said "we can do an implant, yes or no". I was a little taken aback by his abruptness and said she wants to think about it. He then paper clipped the picture to some paper and says "ok. Goodbye ". The only thing missing from this experience was a pair of pliers used to pull teeth. It was a colossal waste of time coming here. If you need a dentist, go to Macy's. They'd be better at it than this guy. read more

For starters it was packed to the brim !!! there must have been 10-15 people in it .. So many that I had to wait in the hallway . Once I got into a chair , I was moved around from chair to chair 3 times !!! Finally they say my cleaning is coming up in 5 mins .... Then the dentist comes over to do the cleaning ??? Usually its the dentist assistant that does this part .. he was so busy I was left wondering why he is doing the cleaning ... Well he was done in 4-5 mins flat .... It felt like he was just fucking around in my mouth the whole time .. I wouldnt even call it a cleaning .. it was so pathetic .. This dude just gets as many people in the door as possible to make as much money as he can quickly .. I wish I read reviews before going into see him .. I also needed Xrays while I was here because I have a cracked crown .. They said they would show the xrays to my insurance and call me back with an appointment to fix the crown in a few days .... That was 3 weeks ago !!!! I wouldnt let this Dr touch my crowns if he was PAYING ME !!! I been there for few emergencies myself in the past, knowing he is rough and sometimes doesn't do anesthesia to treat, he wants you to feel the pain I guess. Urgently I took my husband last year for swollen tooth, his face was Litteraly swollen and he couldn't even open his mouth, he first insisted to see the tooth first touch hurt so bad I was there I witnessed everything, second time my husband screaming from pain he naturally moved his hand, then he pushed my husband arm like he didn't care at all, I wanted to know what is going on he started yelling at me, my husband in pain and embarrassed from the situation, we were both shocked, he is not a dentist he is a butcher. I was waiting to have another dentist pull my tooth out the following week and they had warned me if my face became swollen to be seen right away. Saturday when I woke up my face was swollen. A friend, referred me to Dr. Berdichevsky, his family has been going there for years and he said how helpful and kind everyone was in the office was. I called their office and explained what was going on and they said to come right in. They took x-rays and took care of my infected tooth. I was very impressed with the treatment I received. I have been to a lot of dentist and a lot of bad dentists. This one is by far the worst. It is bad enough that they are unbelievable and unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. If I can give Berdichevsky a negative star I would. I have been going to see him for the last 3 years and everyone time he said my teeth were clean and took x-rays on my first visit. My last visit to see Berdichevsky was October of 2022 and this time he decided to take x-rays and again said my teeth were clean. I decided to change dentist because something just didn't seem right with my teeth. I saw my new dentist and was shocked when I realized that I have 2 cracked teeth, I need a root canal and a deep cleaning. My teeth are so dirty and stained from what the new x-rays my new dentist took. The dental office asked who was my previous dentist and I told them and they told me they see a lot of his patients because he doesn't do thorough dental work. Fortunately, I'm glad my teeth can be saved and repaired. I would not recommend anyone make a appointment to see this dentist! read more

I'm shocked by how terrible this place is. I only chose this place because the other dentists that my insurance covered wouldn't answer their phones (thanks MetLife). When I showed up for the appointment (supposed to be general cleaning and first time check up) I let the receptionist know my name and the time my appointment was at. No further questions and he took me to the back to be seated in the dentist chair. The staff by the cubicle the receptionist pointed me to waved at me to come over, sat me down, and put the bib on me. She's getting stuff ready and then she turns towards me and says "you're here for root canal, right?" My heart drops because root canals terrify me and I shake my head no. She's confused and goes to see the receptionist. The receptionist comes to the cubicle and asks the same thing then asks for my ID and insurance card (decided to ask me that when I'm already getting prepped for my appointment???) Again I tell them no and they both leave the cubicle. After a few minutes of waiting, the receptionist tells me to get up and go back to the waiting room. I ask if I can take off the bib and he says "no, you're fine". I follow him to the front desk and he asks me to fill out paper work and to take a seat in the waiting room. I asked again if I could take off the bib and he finally agreed and took it off for me. I fill out the paper work, wait 10 more minutes (now it is past my appointment time), and finally I'm called in again. The staff sits me down in another cubicle. She's moving around the cubicle saying the dentist will be with me shortly and then I notice another patient standing behind the chair and she puts her stuff down on the chair in my cubicle. The staff then asks me to get up and go back to the waiting room AGAIN, saying that the woman was in pain and they needed the seat for her. 30 minutes later, I'm called in again and seated (I have been seated in all three of their cubicles on my first visit now). When I ask about x rays, the staff says he won't be taking any x rays unless he sees something wrong. Finally the dentist comes but he doesn't look at me, say hi, or introduce himself. Once he gets all the paperwork ready, he turns around and says "you're here for cleaning? Okay good should be easy." The dentist is very rough while he's prodding around my teeth with the thing that sprays water and the water is spraying all over my face. Then he taps each of my teeth once and tells the assistant his assessment of each of my teeth (doesn't do any examinations of my gums at all). Then he says my teeth look healthy and begins "cleaning". "Cleaning" was him briefly sweeping over my teeth with the toothbrush--about 30 seconds of it--and he tells me that we're done and that "you're teeth have no problems, you're young and healthy, enjoy your life" and tells me to rinse and leave. I try to check out at the front desk but the receptionist had disappeared. When the dentist saw me waiting, he told me that I can go. Didn't even set up any next annual cleaning... not that I would have. read more
