Complete rip off. I had a motorcycle accident a half mile from Mikes. They wouldn't tow it to the dealer i requested. Only to Mikes so they could charge me a storage fee of $100 a day for 2 days even though the motorcycle was only there less than 20 hours. The cost of the .5 mile tow: $370. Total price was $590. They refused to take a check and charged me another $20 for using a credit card. I would rate them minus 10 if i could. read more

I am a manager at a transportation company. Anytime one of our trucks break down or get stuck. I call Mike's towing. They are very dependable, Diane in the office is very friendly and keeps me informed on when one of her tow drivers will be on the way. The tow always gets to our driver in a timely matter and the tow operator is always friendly. I would highly recommend for personal use and commercial vehicles. They are the best around. read more

My cars alternator went out and needed to get my car towed to my local auto garage to get it fixed. I called and within an hour they verified they had the right car and took it to my local garage to get it fixed. When it came time to pay I was at an appointment and was not around my card to pay. On the phone was Diane who trusted me to pay right after the appointment was over and sure enough when I called back there was total understanding and my service was paid for. The blonde lady I'm front tower is very rude and no manners! they dont call you about your vehicle so they make alot of money from you until you figure out where Your car is at. Im auing her as she yelled at my face. According to her repair guy. We should have not paid for the cost and let the car get fixed there and she said I cursed her. Ridiculous. 1 star is too good for these people. Sold us a used car and the light came on, within a mile of leaving the place. Bought the car from Mike, by the way. He didn't have time to look at the car he just sold us a few minutes earlier and the car died a week later. Had to have it towed - back to him and he said it would be $580 to fix it. i said "no thanks, I'll bring it somewhere else" and he wanted $60 because he looked at it. What a bunch of unfriendly a-holes. Each and every employee has more attitude than the next. Definitely no display of appreciation for you business. And all I went in for was a truck safety inspection. I guess they're technically competent, and the truck passed, but they treated me like an idiot. Outstanding service! Flat tire and arrived in 30 minutes to tow my car. Tow truck driver was extremely helpful. The lady who took the call that helped me was compassionate and kept constant communication with me. Definitely will use them again. Got ran off the road on Darrell about a mile away. Since mikes towing showed up while I was exchanging insurance information with the other driver and the police officer they didn't notify me about anything and took my truck without giving me the chance to give them my keys so when I got to mikes they were trying to charge me 410 dollars for a 1 mile tow. When I told the lady at the front desk I wasn't happy with the charges she proceeded to yell at me and threatened to kick me out without my car. I work in service so I was completely appalled at this response I was shaking with anger. If you ever need a tow avoid mikes towing like it's the plague. read more

My daughter was in a roll over accident with my 1 year old granddaughter after a snow storm on 176 less than 2 miles away. This happened on a Saturday morning We couldn't get in to her car to get her belongings without a "Gate Fee" So we waited for them to open on Monday Just to find out she was getting charged $700 dollars for the tow!!!! I could give negative stars I would. I went in one time to pick up my boyfriends car. Besides having to pay an absurd amount to get it out after they told me I couldn't pick it up for days( also wouldn't give me that reason) it turns out I could have got the car 5 days earlier the young woman at the front desk is the rudest person I have ever met. She's entitled and just flat out rude, made me feel like an idiot was mocking my questions and was no help at all. She sat there on her phone sucking down her Starbucks coffee instead of answering my questions like a normal person. Very unprofessional I'm surprised they are still a business and haven't been shut down. They ripped me off and made me pay for 5 extra days which was A LOT of money. purchased a vehicle from Mike (owner) Oct. 2017 whom owns his mechanic shop on premises: BEWARE I trusted that it had the oil change and fluids all up "to par" and no that was not the case, when just on a hunch took to my mechanic and found out the brake fluid was down to nothing and minimal engine coolant, also hadn't had an oil change in a long time. I would not recommend anyone to trust him. read more

Car broke down 8am =( called towing about 8:10am and tow truck arrived at 9am. Was 14 mile tow from Island Lake to Libertyville. Price even $130. Tow truck driver was super friendly and polite. Told him I was living in area for over year and gave tons of ideas of place to check out. Great small talk. Definitely would call again if ever need. I broke down 1 mile from this business and decided to take my pickup truck there since they were so close.Big Mistake .first of all let me start out by saying they charged me $100 for a 1 mile tow and that is just the beginning. They called me and informed me they think it is my fuel pump. Charged $100 for the diagnostics.I called three auto supply stores and they informed me that the price for the part is between $100 and $150 tops.they charged me $300 double the amount for that part .then they called me and told me I needed a new battery and it would be $250.Well that's impossible I just installed a brand-new commercial grade battery 2 months ago. I told them not to change it that there is nothing wrong with the battery in there.When they realized they were not dealing with someone stupid they said maybe they're battery charger was broken. Yeah right! well after they charged me $900 to pick up my truck I was quite taken back by this and called a couple other shops and they informed me this job should have not been no more than $400 or less.when I picked up my vehicle I asked Mechanic to see the part they replaced and he began to make many excuses not to show it to me and did not. I'm beginning to wonder if they even replaced it. Hard to tell because it's inside the gas tank.My best advice is to stay far away from this repair shop they will take you to the cleaners.if you know a honest mechanic stick with them they hard to find. read more

Just kept getting the run around and was told more than once my truck would be ready and after i got the run around for a week I was told that they could not fix my truck and had to take it to someone who did know what they were doing and got it fixed and back in two days. It has been years since I dealt with a commercial towing service. Today I had a very serious blowout of a tire on Rt. 12. I called Mr. Johnson, first thing he asked if I needed medical care, and if I was OK? He then dispatched a truck within minutes to my location. I rode back in the tow truck, it was clean, well maintained. The staff were extremely professional. The building was clean, well maintained. Everything was explained to me in a polite, professional manner. The repair was performed quickly and well done. The price was very reasonable. Just had my car repaired at Mike's towing. I am very pleased! They did a great job! Crystal was awesome! She was so helpful! Was driving my car and when I came to a stop, it went totally dead. Did not know whom to call so we checked with Castens and they recommended Mike's. Called them and they came so fast (Like 15 mims) and towed my car to their shop and checked out the problem. Did not take long and when they found out what was wrong they came over to me and talked about what we should do. I was very, very pleased with the handled everything. To my surprise when I went to pick it up, the bill was $500.00. Totally unethical and I can find no way to describe their business other than LEGALIZED THEFT. Consumer Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As an owner operator of a long haul tractor, I need to find a mechanic I can trust. I thought I had found one in this establishment until I was charged $560.00 for an oil change and a DOT safety inspection. I paid the bill at the time but let it be known that I felt like they were sticking it to me. Their response was "we know we are a little bit on the high end". A week later, still fuming about this rip-off, I called and spoke to the service manager about the bill. I received a refund check in the amount of $61.00. All told, I paid $500.00 for an oil change and a DOT inspection which at best should be around $300.00. To summarize, if I were to break down in front of Mike's Towing, I would call another wrecker service to tow me to their shop even if it were HUNDREDS of miles away. Was involved in an accident and was very emotional. The 2 men that came to tow my car were extremely nice, helpful and patient. They were informative and did a great job of cleaning up. The girl that answered the phone was just as helpful and friendly. She was very concerned that I was treated well.
