I dropped off my car for some service and needed a ride home to pick up my truck so I brought up the Uber app on my phone and requested a ride. Getting a ride through the app was quick and easy, I only had to wait about five minutes for the driver to arrive at my location. The car was clean and comfortable, the driver was very polite, friendly and professional. We engaged in pleasant conversation throughout the short trip. I have used taxi cab services in the past but after my experience with Uber I think it will be my first option going forward. I am happy to have their service as a transportation option.

The app worked with no issues and provided the necessary information of pricing, arrival time and car details with tag number. I really like the fact it's a flat fee as opposed to a taxi. I have used Uber out of Norfolk over half dozen times. I have also have pre ordered my driver the night before and that worked flawlessly. Not all rides have been four stars, but I will average with some three stars. I can't say I've ever had a ride that warrants a full 5. My recent out of Norfolk International to Home worked very well. The car was clean, the driver was nice and no hitches. The price was around $2 cheaper than my normal taxi fee. I tipped off the app. I have used both Lyft and Uber with similar good results. I'm using Uber more now since my status has better pricing. I would recommend Uber in Norfolk.

The first was when we took…read morea cab from the airport to the Hampton Roads area, the second was when we took a cab from Waterside Marketplace to a destination which was about 7 miles away. The first cab driver was a bit on the slow side. It took him a few minutes to think of a restaurant to recommend to us in the city, and when my cell phone rang while he was talking, he didn't seem happy that he was interrupted. He also used a pretty derogatory slang term to describe some of the ethnic population in Norfolk and didn't have any receipts to give us when it was time for us to pay him. The second cab driver was awesome. He was driving a fully loaded Lincoln SUV with motorized doors to gain entry into the back seats, he was knowledgeable about the area and was well spoken. He earned a nice tip and we took his card in case we needed another taxi at some point over the weekend.

We arrived safely and he said that he preferred if we'd pay in cash. We did. Two stars. We were traveling at night with my 78-year-old husband and my daughter, who was carrying a baby. From the start, the driver was incredibly rude. When we asked to go to a hotel near the airport, he got visibly upset and told us he "does not do that kind of fare." He then took a deliberately long route to get to our destination. I know this for a fact because our Uber driver took the correct, much shorter route when we traveled between the airport and the hotel the next day.To make matters worse, when we finally arrived at the hotel, the driver just popped the trunk and yelled at us to get our own luggage. He didn't offer any help to my elderly husband or my daughter with the baby. After all that horrible treatment and taking the long way, he charged us $57. Save your money and your sanity. Avoid Duke Taxi at all costs and use a rideshare service instead!
