I used Mike's Moving for a local move in town and was completely happy from start to finish! They were punctual, polite, and careful with my items. They didn't try and hit me with hidden fees, and they had better rates than other companies in the area. It is done small-business style, with limited paperwork and informal messaging. I was nervous about that at first but I ended up really appreciating that I could receive a quick response through texting or calling. This is the 2nd time I've used Mike's Moving, as a moving company. Apparently Mike also has a limousine service, which I have also used with success. Regardless, Mike's team exceeded my expectations in a short, yet not-so-simple move. I didn't need the truck, but I needed 3 men in a truck, and the guys delivered. My move consisted of getting a 218 pound, 65" tall air compressor from my garage to my woodworking shop. It only took 10 minutes, for $200. My initial response to the estimate was that it was too high. In retrospect, Mike sent three guys who knew what they were doing and made the 200' transfer from my garage to my backyard shop appear to be a piece of cake. I would have given 5 stars, except for all the documents I had to sign without the opportunity to review. Don't get me wrong. Mike's team didn't so much as incur a scratch on the moved item. However, I suggest that the legal documents be provided in advance of agreeing to the terms of service. If that were an opportunity, I would have provided 5 stars. read more

This company is very unprofessional. The inside of the Trucks was full of trash and dirt. They are late to jobs and the employees harass the customers especially if its a female, for tips. You pay for 3 men but only get two and they have a hidden surcharge that sometimes cost the customers up to 75.00 that is not quoted on your estimate.. The often have to do refunds because the employees break furniture..And just recently didnt even show up for booked jobs which leave the customer stranded on moving day.. read more

We have used Mikes in the past and had a good experience. We used them for a recent move and the actual movers were good guys. They worked hard and were very courteous. The issue I had started after the move. When moving, the driver of one of the trucks took too wide of a turn and caused a deep and long rut in my neighbors yard. I didn't notice the rut for a day or so because I used another entrance to my home. I took pics of the ruts and emailed them to Mikes and also called. I left several voicemails over a few days with no one returning my call. Finally my email was answered by the secretary who said the GM and owner had reviewed my email and they suggested there was nothing really that could be done. They said I should use a wide tired vehicle to repair the ruts. So, they were saying is was my responsibility to fix their error. They didnt even offer an apology. I responded to the email and its been over a week with no response. They also never returned a call. Apparently they dont want to own up to their mistakes. I cant imagine what would have happened if they had broken something during the move.....no telling how that would have ended up. This is truly unacceptable and I have no idea how they are considered a reputable business when this is how they operate. Their customer service is laughable and for future moves I wont even consider them. read more

Hired Mike's Moving to move my senior citizen mother. The 3 men team arrived promptly at the beginning of the appointment window. The movers were professional and courteous. When originally booking the moving service I was nervous from moving horror stories you hear about on the news, but the guys quickly put us at ease. They tore up my stuff, maxed out my credit card, then accused me of having more items to move than they quoted, when in truth, I had less items because I moved a lot of it myself. I have no clue how Mike's Moving has been voted "Best of Tallahassee" in the past. Our move from Tallahassee to Athens, GA was the worst experience we have ever had with a move. We have used both local and national movers in the past (Mayflower and Dale's Pack and Load) for full service moves and have had wonderful experiences. Mike's Moving is a joke. The movers were not only significantly late each of the three days of our move, but they did not contact to let us know they were going to be late. They were unprofessional, disorganized, and treated us and our things with no respect. They did not have any of the proper packing materials when they showed up the first day and even the second day to pack, and wasted enormous amounts of time trying to get the proper material. We paid for a full service move (pack, load, drive, unload) and on day two of the packing the one guy said "she'll finish packing the kitchen" (referring to me) while he directed his men to pack a different room. Didn't ask me, just said "she'll do it." Incredibly disrespectful. The "packers" at Mike's Moving have zero training in how to pack and we had to constantly monitor them. The packers did a TERRIBLE job of packing our breakables - we literally had to repack boxes that had breakables in them that were hardly wrapped at all with any packing materials. I witnessed one lampshade that was crushed as well as many breakables that were hardly wrapped with any packing material. We kept having to go behind them and repack many things. The first box I unpacked upon arrival had a heavy garden seat on top, and all of the antique creamware dishes from our bedroom on the bottom. Needless to say it was broken. It almost seemed as if one of the packers was intentionally trying to break our things. On day 2, after the truck finally left for Athens, I was cleaning the house for my renter. I found my two-year old daughter's pink piggy bank (which was very clearly out in her room to be packed that morning) hidden in an empty bathroom drawer. The bottom was broken, hundreds of pennies were spread out in the bottom of the drawer, and only pennies were left. It was very obviously broken by a mover and hidden from us - I guess whoever did it hoped we wouldn't find it. Unbelievable. My husband and I worked as hard, if not harder, than the movers to get everything packed and on the truck. We were packing boxes, lifting furniture, and I believe that if we had not helped our move would have taken much longer than it did. I have NEVER had to work so hard for a service that I was paying a lot of good money for. We were told to email our complaints to Mike's Moving, and did so a few days after we got settled. We never received a response back, although we did notice that some of the charges were removed from our credit card bill, which we appreciated. A move is a very stressful event for any family, and it was made much more so for us due to the lack of professionalism and respect that Mike's movers showed for my family and for our things. We understand that things come up and that things might not run completely on schedule, but the extent to which this happened during our move was completely unacceptable. In addition, it was very obvious that none of the people who were in our home packing our things had any training of any sort in how to pack. We took very good care of every mover that came into contact with us by providing generous tips each day, meals, and, of course, many cold drinks hoping that they would, in return, treat us and our things with respect. They did not. I will never be able to recommend Mike's Moving company to anyone. I am not someone who routinely complains about services (in fact, I can't remember ever having to do this!), but this was such a horrific experience that I feel that it is necessary to take the time to post this review. Mike's Moving is the worst company to do business with! First lets start off by saying that I called Mike's to get a quote regarding my move and I had to leave a voice mail for someone to call me back. After about an hour or so one of the employees named June called me back and I was unavailable to speak to her so she left me a voice mail to call her back. While listening to her voice mail I noticed that she gave me 2 separate phone numbers to call in which 1 of those numbers happen to be her home phone number... right then and there, there was a red flag. What business allows their employees to give out an their home phone number to do business with customers? After June and I spoke I decided to go ahead with Mike's and I decided to only use their labor, I was not going to need to use their truck or anything else. June sent me a contract to sign, in which I did and I sent it back to her. A couple of days later, June decided to send me another contract to sign stating that if I was not satisfied with Mike's services I could not do a "Charge Back" on my credit card. 2nd red flag. What company asks their customers to waive their rights?!?! So I called June and she was very short with me and you could tell she was aggravated and did not enjoy dealing with customers.I asked her about the document she just sent me and she said that I had to sign the document or cancel my move. All the while she was pretty much yelling at me and telling me that all of this was being recorded. I politely asked her if there was going to be a cancellation fee which she said that there was, but that she would waive it. I asked her if I could have a copy of the recording or a document stating that the fee would be waived and she said no and hung up on me. Well, on the day of my move I checked my bank to see if good ole June had compassion and loyalty in her heart to not charge me a cancellation fee which she said herself that she would waive, and low and behold, there was a $200.00 cancellation fee. I immediately called the bank and bank employee laughed when I told him the nonsense that June had done and the bogus documents she had sent me. Regardless to say, my money was refunded and everything is right in the world. So if you want to endure a bunch of aggravation and a rude old woman, then go ahead and use Mike's, just be aware that if they screw you over good ole June won't be there to help you out. The funny thing is, after my conversation with June, I prayed to God that he would allow June to be true to her word and not to be vindictive, I guess some people at too far gone for God to help. read more

I am in the process of looking for movers to help with a local move and I have called a few businesses so far and June at Mike's Moving needs to get another job. She is rude and short. It really seems as if you are bothering her when you ask questions. I will NOT be using Mike's Moving for our upcoming move. If June is their Sales Director they are in poor shape. read more

They certainly were prompt about taking my money and charging my credit card but that's where it stopped. The showed up a week early for the move. When it was rescheduled for 7/29 they arrived without tools to disassemble the furniture. Subsequently the movers shoved and pushed things thought the doorways damaging my sofa, love seat and trundle bed as well as the door frames. On delivery to my new home they damaged the walls. All of this at a cost above the estimate because the time it took, as they weren't prepared, came out of my pocket. Further they refuse to return my calls or email. Be advised, pay by check, if the service isn't what you thought it should be stop payment immediately. Do not pay by credit card. read more

I would give them a zero rating if it were an option. We used them to move recently and were told 5 guys and 2 trucks. They showed up 2 1/2 hours late to appointment with 2 guys and 1 truck. They blamed their untimeliness on the truck. During the move the supervisor explained that it was not in fact the truck at all. It was that the rest of the crew did not show for work having partied too hard the night before. The move went along ok from that point until they destroyed my wife's $4000 desk and damaged another $600 desk not to mention the damage to the hardwood floors where they broke the desk. They received a claim and offered $60 replacement for the desk. I would never ever use them or suggest them to anyone. Very unprofessional, would not return calls or emails. Just avoid them and they will go away is what I think their philosophy is. As a business owner myself if I treated my clients this way I would be out of business. read more
