Unfortunately you cannot get it in Canada, so when we went to the US in the summer of 2022, I was determined to purchase a couple of bottles. We didn't have any luck in DC or Baltimore, but I figured surely it would be available in New York, and every time I saw a liquor store I'd go in, but I couldn't find it anywhere. However, while in Brooklyn we came across Brooklyn Wine Co so we went in and to our surprise, they sold Blade and Bow! And at $49.95, it was cheaper than at the distillery in Louisville ($63)! So when my husband and I went back to New York over Christmas, going back to Brooklyn Wine Co, even though it was out of our way, was a priority. Because we had only a limited number of days we could venture into Brooklyn (we couldn't go to Brooklyn on days we had a show booked, for example) and I didn't want to turn up and they were out of stock, I contacted them ahead of time asking if there was a chance they would run out of stock, and if so, offered to pre-pay. The owner responded saying that they regularly stock Blade and Bow, but if they were running low, they would put some aside for me, and no need to pre-pay. When we arrived on December 28th, they had plenty of Blade and Bow in stock, but due to the ridiculous custom rules, we could only purchase three bottles. In addition to being one of the few liquor stores that stocks Blade and Bow, the customer service was great. One of the employees offered to go into the stock room to see if he could find a bottle with a specific number that we needed to complete our collection. (There are little plastic keys hanging from the bottles, numbered one to five, and if you get all five and go back to the distillery, you get a golden cup.) Unfortunately we couldn't get the number we needed to complete the set (#5), but the employee was able to help us find another that we needed. Even though we went to Brooklyn Wine Co for a specific product, they have a great selection of wines and spirits, and I will definitely go back if I am ever in New York. The staff and owner were extremely knowledgeable and helpful and were able to direct my friend and me to the types of Amaro that we preferred. I asked for one that tasted like a Somali tire fire in terms of smokiness and bitterness and they were right on. I grabbed a bunch of others as did my friend and we'll surely return to try more of their their collection, both unique and obscure.

The staff is always helpful, and will ask questions to narrow choices and make selections. The store itself feels homey but not crowded -- Quite digestible without feeling overwhelming. It has the feeling of a small town liquor store run by people who really know their wine and whiskey (they also seem to know their tequila, rye, and bourbon, but that was not very alliterative). I always make sure to stop in whenever I'm visiting my brother and his family, I always find a great bottle to bring as a gift (often buy something else for myself that I haven't seen in other places).

Shawn Fine Wine and Spirits has been in business since 1970, and has certain hard to find items. My quest was an older bottle of Oddero Barolo, and I found a 2007 Bussia Soprano Mondoca. The bottle was not cheap, but considering that 2007's are very hard to find I will consider what I paid a fair price. There are numerous other hard to find bottles in the store and I will buy one for the next special occasion. PS the Barolo was delicious.
