Nicest and most welcoming greeting I have had at any auction. The auctioneer, Clellan Foster is a great auctioneer and does a a good job keeping things moving when he is on the stand. His descriptions are accurate and he honestly represents the items he is selling. His auction style is engaging and fun. He too makes everybody feel welcome. They also have a concession stand that sells some tasty morsels. I had nachos, chili and barbecue brisket. The nachos were fresh, the chili good and the brisket was nic This was my first visit to Foster's but it will not be my last, these are some good folks and I really enjoyed the experience and tender.

It being New Years Day, they also handed out Black-eyed Peas and did other customer appreciation things like handing out gifts. Clay is an excellent auctioneer and keeps things lively and entertaining. In the day where a lot of auctions are moving strictly online this was a refreshing find!

Steve Kaplan, the owner and auctioneer is one of the most honest and ethical people I have met in the business. He gets that the business is as much about relationships as it is about honesty, integrity and just making your customers feel appreciated. He is not as active as some of the other auction houses, often having about half the number of auctions, but I will skip another to attend his auction anytime. I have bought some beautiful pieces and very fair prices here and am always anxious to see what is coming up in his next auctions. He gets unique pieces and his auction is filled with friendly folks who are fun to be around.

I have waited at least a week before I received my first check before posting this, I just wanted to calm down and be fair on my review. First of all, I was dealing with this by myself so I was happy to hear that they would come pick the items up as opposed to me bringing them in. It was explained to me, by doing that, they would take 40%. I was fine with that. I was not fine when it was a husband and wife team that showed up with no other help. I helped them carry everything to the truck. If you're going to take 40%, I don't really feel I should have done that, but fine. When I initially spoke with the owner, I specifically asked ( given this was my first time to have to deal with anything like this) "You guys don't start the bidding at $1 or something like that do you?" He told me not to worry, I believe that he used the analogy of, " Bidding is like drinking, when people have one they just want to keep going." I told them the value of several things that I was giving them and that if they had any questions to call me. It was a month before I picked up my first check. I had called a couple times and either my call was not returned or it seemed that I was bothering them. They were definitely not as friendly as they were when they came to the house. When I actually showed up to the business to pick up my check, the woman that I spent 3 hours giving my parent's estate to and chatting with acted like she didn't know me and I was completely interrupting her day. I will put it this way, the check I received was not even the value of one of the clocks they took. I consigned so many items that we filled the truck the first night and they had to come back the next day. I was also initially told by the owner that I had the option of donating the remainder of items that did not sell. I was fine with that, seemed like a stellar cause. However, once we loaded the truck up and the paperwork was signed, I was told that I did not have that option because if they pick it up it's theirs regardless. TO BE FAIR AND HONEST, I was never promised anything. I was under the assumption that these were professionals and knew their trade. Turns out, I made a poor choice in the business I chose to handle my parent's estate. That is why I'm leaving this review. For anyone that is considering this establishment, do your research. I'm simply saying, if I had it to do over again, ( which I don't because I gave it all to them), I would definitely not choose this company. Harsh lesson learned. Find a company with more reviews, including stated reviews without the last name of the owners. I will continue to share this on social media sites. Not because I want to hurt or damage this business, but because I feel it's important that if there is anyone out there that is doing this alone and for the first time...be educated and make the right choice. My opportunity to learn and do it differently the next time ended with this company.

God forbid anyone have any kind of delay in pickup, these people are a real class act when it comes to common human decency. From the greeting and registration process to the auction itself to the checkout process, these folks are fun friendly and efficient! The rest of the bidders were even friendly, something you don't always find in the competitive purchasing environment that an auction presents.
