Unprofessional. Greedy. Dishonest. I contacted Sean with Mike Lopez Roofing for an estimate to re-roof a home in Santa Fe after finding his company in the Santa Fe Reporter "Best Of 2025". His estimate was high, and he promised he would repair a section of the roof and return to replace the entire roof (of which I paid a deposit of $9,500) in September. He did not notify me or my tenants before his September start date, showed up at the house while my tenants were travelling abroad and was upset. Sean does not possess professional communication skills, which is mandatory when you own a business and your clients are paying top dollar for contractual construction work. After no communication from Sean for 3 months, my tenants sent me an urgent message on December 15 - to let me know part of the roof caved in. Sean began the roof project (without my knowledge) during my busiest time of year and things were not go smoothly. HE DID NOT PULL A PERMIT WITH THE CITY OF SANTA FE, which is his company's contractual obligation and expense. This led to a delay with the completion, and a complete disaster. The furnace went out in the house, as the roofing crew reinstalled the exhaust incorrectly, triggering the safety shutoff. On December 23, Sean began harassing me to pay the final invoice, and said he was leaving on vacation. I told him I would be able to review the invoice and pay him after the holidays, as I was extremely busy at work. He continued to call, text and threaten me for days. On January 6, Sean finally sent the receipts and pictures I requested from the job. I told him I would call him later in the day with my credit card number. Within a couple of hours, he accused me of "blocking" him and he had his attorney call me. I phoned Sean within a few minutes with my credit card information, as a person of my word. Funny. My original comments about this place have been removed. Well. Let me tell you: I bought a house in 04 with a 4 year old mike lopez roof and the seller, thank goodness, had the roofing company omit the "non transferable" part of the warranty which they signed. Within 1 year, 11 years left on the warranty, and they refused to honor it. I had to make all kinds of threats before they would come and look at it. they made a repair which worked until the next rain. After that they refused to come out, said i needed a new roof, that the old one was "faulty" and it'd cost me 17 thousand dollars to replace. What? You replace it! You installed it wrong and are unable to patch the leaks! So, since there are no honest roofers in santa fe, what can you do? My roof still leaks 8 years later. DO NOT HIRE this company unless you're willing to get cancer or suffer property damage and cause the same to all your neighbors! This company is a health hazard to the entire county and they destroy your property with apparent immunity. Companies like this exist only because people that suffer at their hands stay quiet. Well, I'm not intimidated by Mike Lopez and not only will I expose him but I will be reporting him to every health organization possible and have all of his licenses revoked. Mr. Lopez is apparently all about making money and he doesn't care if he does it at the expense of your health, your pets' health, damage to your property, poisoning your food, and even ordering you off your own property! I didn't hire this guy and I never would. My neighbor did. And what a mistake he made. First and foremost, the foam this guy sprays is made up of isocyanate and polyol resin. Isocyanates include compounds classified as carcinogens and have been shown to cause cancer in animals and humans alike. Exposure to isocyanates enflame existing asthma and also cause it as well as other lung problems, the least of these are irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, and skin. Does he go around the neighbors and explain what's his company is about to do? NO! Does he take precautions in order to not poison everyone around? NO! Does he show care and protect your property from damage? NO! Does he show any care about your pets? NO! My neighbor got a new foam roof but here's what I got living right next door to him: A damaged expensive Mercedes; $300-$400 to fix! A backyard full of his foam parts and foam dust and my dogs can no longer go outside. 4 days and nights of headaches, irritated sinuses, and poison to breathe. A vegetable garden full of his poisonous foam dust and it will have to be dug up and new soil put in. A house loaded with his poisonous foam dust caked in everything from the window screens to all over my BBQ. Large chunks of foam for decoration. God knows what kind of cancer which will show up years from now. Oh and the icing on the cake: when I finally talked to Mr. Lopez or someone pretending to be him (I would hide too if I were him) he tells me that I'm "in a construction zone" and to move my car; from my own driveway! And accuses me of impeding his crews from "doing work" when I chase them away from my car because they were trying to cover it after the fact. I contacted Mike Lopez Roofing twice during the month of May, 2019 to come look at my roof and repair three leaks that had developed over my garage. The roof was completely redone in 2008 or 2009, for $22,000. I left two voicemails and an email. Finally I received a text from Sean that he was returning from Europe and would call and come by the following Monday. Monday came and went and no call, no visit. I had his number from the text he sent so on Wednesday of that week I texted to remind him. He texted back that he would come by Thursday afternoon. No call no visit no text on thursday. That was two weeks ago. I guess I will have to call a different roofer to get my roof repairs done. A roof is only as good as the company that backs it up. read more

Terrible customer service! We purchased a home with a transferable warranty from Mike Lopez Roofing; when we added a garage a few years later, we discovered that the original 6 year old roof was in terrible condition, They made the repairs and gave us a new warranty for the whole residence. Every year we called for routine maintenance, never receive a return phone call, when we follow up 1re told 'Oh yeah, we came out everything's fine' (including this year). When we advised that we have pictures of bubbles and pops despite the 'everything is fine' we were challenged on the warranty. Sent a copy of the warranty and were told (on August 1) that the first time they could come out would be late October! 3 months for a warranty repair? Find another roofer! read more

So disappointed with Mike Lopez Roofing. They did not honor our roof warranty in spite of the fact that I had all the paperwork and routine maintenance was performed. Additionally I was treated terribly by management. All and all terrible customer service and lousy workmanship. I would never recommend Mike Lopez Roofing. read more

This company told me I needed a whole new roof when my 7 year old roof had only one leak , due to a gap around the skylight and a low spot. They quoted me nearly 25,000 to repair it. They made no effort to assess the cause of the leak and fix only what was broken. I felt they were trying to con me into a big job for them. read more
