What started as my desire to learn what colors would look better on me and accentuate my best features led to an extensive deep dive into exploring and highlighting my external traits but also having a thorough understanding of my innate human qualities. I've often found as a masculine presenting person that style is a long-time game of trial and error - and more often than not there isn't too much of a compass for exploring outside of traditional menswear. Kristin was fantastic - full of energy and a great personality.; we got along with ease. It now became a necessity. I first met Barbra at an event at Beckley's on Melrose. She was part of a group of experts discussing the importance of fashion on image and branding. After I heard her no-nonsense eco-friendly approach to styling (reuse, repurpose, recycle -- THEN buy something new), I knew I wanted to work with her. Of course it didn't hurt that she is also a British Vogue online correspondent and a published author of Closet Control. Any way, she takes her business SERIOUSLY. Prior to her first power session with you, she advises you to get plenty of rest and eat something because it is going to be intense. Wow. This was kinda like the advice I got prior to doing my first Triathalon last year. And then we went for it. Years of clothes and shoes were thrown out, and things were repurposed and reworked to create things I didn't think of putting together. Old faves were retired, but that ultimately made room for new faves. This was some serious therapy as I was sooooo attached to my stuff, even though I hadn't worn things in years. Some stuff still had tags. Anyway, I have a better sense of what woks for my figure. She also strongly suggested that I rethink my attraction to expensive handbags, and invest that money elsewhere in my wardrobe. My friend had heard about it through a relative who is involved with non-profits. She said all you do is register. Right then, I got a little skeptical saying I don't want to give away my info. She said, "No, no. Registration is nothing more than giving your e-mail address and stating you are 18." I thought okay that's fine. She said, once you register, you select a cause to which you want to donate every single time you shop online. This could be Habitat for Humanity, for instance. So I logged on. I expected to find some local mom-and-pop shops as affiliates, but, low and behold, they are affiliated with Amazon?! Target?! Verizon Wireless?! Home Depot?! I thought, "Uh--if I register, does that mean that every single time I do my Amazon shopping, a portion goes towards the cause I select?" (because, believe me, I do quite a bit of Amazon shopping). My friend said, "Yes, that's the whole idea!" I am still in disbelief. To date, so far, I have shopped three times on Amazon, since registering with SupportingPals.
