This is a great studio for a slow moving practice. If you're new to yoga and are looking for a way to slow your body down, this is a lovely place to start. But this studio is NOT a hot studio, it's a tepid studio, a "warm"-ish studio. My feet remain freezing at least half an hour into class, and once the class hits 80, the small heaters fully shut off (they may even blow cold air?? I can't seem to remember!). It's actually really miserable for folks who are avid hot yoga practitioners. And I wouldn't recommend this studio for people who are looking to really move and physically challenge their body. I've practiced hot yoga for 15 years. It's my life line to mental grounding and the my favorite version of self-care. Mighty Yoga left me sleepy after every class instead of energized (which is what usually happens after a true hot yoga class when my body is moving). Because the intensity or movement wasn't there, my body was unable to release my anxiety and feel relaxed. Some people DON'T need to expend energy like that, and Mighty Yoga would be great for those folks. It's not great for me, but that's why I'm giving it 3 stars...bc while it doesn't work for me, it isn't a total shit show...just not "my" place :) read more

Loved the class and vibe of this well- established studio in downtown Ithaca. The teacher Erica led a beautiful flow. Sign up was easy on the Momence app. In spite of the posted warnings about the studio not being responsible for missing or stolen items, I stupidly left my wallet in my mat bag in the changing room along with my jacket. My wallet was pilfered and all my cash was stolen. Thankfully my credit cards were left. Bad karma on the thief. read more

Mighty Yoga is a hot yoga/power yoga studio right outside of the Commons, across from the State Theatre. Prices here are comparable to other yoga studios, though maybe less expensive. MY offers a student rate, but if you're having financial issues, I believe they also have some kind of classes-in-exchange-for-your-help system. I really love this place. Classes are available at all sorts of hours, which is a godsend, especially when you're a busy college student; and sometimes it's just really nice to be able to spend 75 minutes sweating it out in a small room with 20-something other strangers (many of which are also college students -- from IC and Cornell). MY is so easy to get to, has a great intimate environment, and the instructors are wonderful. (Jamie is my absolute favorite... I go to her classes almost exclusively.) I've been taking classes for about four months and plan to continue when I return to Ithaca in the fall. read more

I usually wait to write reviews about places but this place was so great I had to write right away! My regular yoga studio is closing so I have been scoping out other studios in the area. MY is having an unlimited 30 days for $30 special that sold me on the place. I have also checked out their website and I really liked the class selections and the large amount of classes per week. Well today I went and signed up for the unlimited first 30 days and went to my first class. It was AMAZING. The room is heated which I love and even though it was a foundations class it was definitely a workout. I was pleasantly surprised with how great I felt when class was over. I started going to MY when I was shopping around for a yoga studio in Ithaca. I never went anywhere else. The staff are super welcoming and helpful, the space is incredible and literally a sanctuary in a busy chaotic town. There are a ton of classes with amazing teachers who all have different styles so you can definitely find something you're looking for that fits your schedule. There are always workshops advertised and specialty classes outside of the normal MY class schedule. In the 2 years I went to this studio, there wasn't a teacher who didn't have something to offer my practice, whether it was a little more core focus or a little more focus on restoration. Class sizes vary. Some class times and teachers are very popular and the room is at max capacity. Personally, I try to avoid those times because I like having a little more space to practice. But it also depends on what the college town schedule is like, summer classes at MY a lot less crowded. There is also the opportunity to do independent study with some of the teachers. In addition, MY is involved with the community offering discounted community classes, yoga in the park, and benefit classes for local organizations and charities. Their rates are pretty reasonable (yoga is always on the pricier side) and there are discounts for memberships, students, and a work study program. read more

I purchased a 5-class pass. Shortly after, I accepted a new position out of town. I wanted to gift my remaining 4 classes to a good friend (who was particularly helpful in my job search) who already attends this studio regularly. I expected this to be a simple transaction, especially as I was not requesting a refund. I was not allowed to do so due to a matter of policy. Such a policy seems diametric to much of the rhetoric employed before, during, and after classes and in online and print advertising. Flexibility? Generosity? Communal support? As frequently occurs in Ithaca, yet another crack in the post-hippie veneer. Another consideration: This studio has hardwood floors. It was my secondary studio when I was in Ithaca for work. The primary studio I attend has lightly padded flooring. The difference is remarkable. Consider finding a padded-floor studio and the stress hardwood yoga will put on your body before attending here. If you already have a practice, you may be better off practicing outdoors on soft ground. read more

Overpriced for what it is. This studio has some very very good teachers but the room is cramped and awkward with mold growing on the walls, loud awkward ventilation systems and a terribly hard floor. All of this would be ok, a funky DIY style yoga shop like so many around the country but this place is priced like a clean luxurious studio. I got a 30 days unlimited for my time here in Ithaca. The place is more expensive than my regular studio which has a safe, forgiving cork floor...two giant, window filled rooms and allows participants to borrow blankets without saying next time you'll have to buy one! (I had to borrow cuz the floor is so hard!) Many of the classes I tried to attend were full because the room is so small. It's a fine place just way way overpriced for what they offer. read more

Mighty yoga has a great vibe in the studio, with large widows and lovely lighting. The check-in process is usually streamlined, and people are really friendly. It's definitely not the snobby kind of yoga studio! But the downsides are that the classes go ten minutes over pretty often, which can be a nuisance if you are on a schedule and don't want to be your own timekeeper. Also, because of the friendly vibe, it's less meditative than I like...it's common for people to be chatting in the studio before an after classes (sometimes during). I tend to like a more meditative kind of practice, so this doesn't really suit me. read more

Honestly, this is the yoga studio you go to if you want to practice between your psychiatrist and employer while the instructors prattle on in chirpy voices about spiritual awakenings that sound a lot more like Sri K. Pattabhi Jois' bad daymares concerning what would happen when Westerners appropriated an Indian spiritual practice to make soccer moms feel better about saying mean things about how their frenemies dress over the cocktails they secretly have before practicing. The music is Explosions in the Sky's "Your Hand in Mine" on loop, which really moved me the first time I practiced here because it's the "Friday Night Lights" theme song and Tami and Eric taught me about the nature of true love. But then you begin to realize how blatantly white and uncreative post-rock instrumental music is as a soundtrack for your being and becoming spiritual. It's music to run rapidly to while thinking about overcoming many obstacles to succeed in the end. It's totally and utterly American and strips yoga of its Indian heritage. Boo! But, hey, if your mental health professional frequents it, then maybe it deserves two stars instead of one. Wait. I'm bringing it back down to one because, frankly, the orange walls are hideous and distracting. read more

Easy check in, in-person or on the MindBody app, and all of the instructors are very helpful if you have any questions. Yes, sometimes it gets a bit tight in class but I don't mind sharing space. Update-- In an email explaining why she would not refund my money, the manager suggested that (a) other people don't say anything about the lack of space so it's not a problem and (b) being this close to people is intentional, to help us learn about "our bodies in community." Mighty Yoga got me through a pandemic. Literally. They were one of the first places that I heard of that were offering online classes when the COVID 'shelter in place' started in NYS, and I signed right up for the new member/free trial when I heard about it. Being brand new to yoga, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was very pleased with the Zoom classes and different styles of teachers available. Despite the fact that I was nowhere near the actual studio, the instructors and classes had me feeling connected to others and my own body, in a time when we were all experiencing great disconnection because of the pandemic. After the free trial ended, I signed up for a full membership, which also gave me access to recorded classes at ANY TIME. So I can do yoga during my lunch hour without having to find a class that matches my schedule! It's been great and I highly recommend this studio, with the various class and instructor offerings, you can't go wrong with Mighty!! If anyone at the actual studio sees this - please pass along a heartfelt Thank You to each of the instructors that helped me out during a really rough time. read more

Love this place. I can take unheated yoga, do flows and balance poses, and learn about how to be more mellow. Every teacher I have had is different and good; find the ones you like! I live about a half hour away from Mighty Yoga, so I mostly come for workshops. Every single one I've attended has been glorious. Not only have the instruction and information been great, but the kindness of the folks there has been really welcoming. Yes, it's a tight space, but that's part of the charm. Mighty Yoga is ...amazing. I've tried other types of yoga before, but heated power is definitely my favorite. At 90 degrees, the MY studio is not as warm as Bikram yoga, but the poses are much more intense and flowing, where as Bikram is just the same set of poses in a row every time, so you get an even better workout through hot power yoga in my opinion! The instructors at MY are by far my favorite thing about it. Every one has their own style, and each class is different and interesting. I've been coming here for about a year now, and the classes still consistently challenge and amaze me. They're designed to bring you to an edge and then beyond -- and they definitely do! Aside from the amazing classes the instructors put together, they also definitely create an awesome sense of community that I've found other yoga studios lack. The attitude at Mighty is so awesome for beginners and experienced yogis alike--- it is a very challenging yet totally do-what-you-can-do kind of vibe. Everyone is welcome! The prices are the best I've found in multiple cities, and they do offer a work-study program. Best of all... Mighty Yoga keeps yoga fun! Try it -- you won't regret it! read more
