July 2024 an employee backed into my garage door. I get it, accidents happen. My neighbor saw it and got his information (thankfully). After contacting the owner, Martin, he said he would take care of it if I got him a quote. I got him a quote and he replied that "times were tight" at the moment but "I give you my word as a man" to fix it and make it right. Fast forward to today, almost 2 YEARS later, zero contact and is "out" when I call. I blame myself for not submitting a claim through his insurance but anyone looking for an honorable and trustworthy company i'd skip this one. My experience with Mighty Bee was overall frustrating, and as a result of their work we lost a month of solar generation because they turned it off and never turned it back on again. The owner is hard of hearing and doesn't have a hearing aid. Every time we talked to him we needed to do it loud and then still he'd misunderstand until we explained twice more. His diagnostic abilities are also sub-par. I'm not an electrician, but I was able to figure out what we were looking at and how to fix the issue before he did, and it took explaining the situation three times before he reluctantly agreed to do what I requested. It didn't seem like he ever believed me, but I proved to be correct. Then they installed the wrong kind of breaker in a panel--a 50amp breaker where it was supposed to be 20amp--which is a really, really dangerous fire hazard. Luckily I noticed it and they replaced it, but that hardly inspired confidence. During the indoor work we asked them to wear masks. The owner grumbled about the masks and made continuing snide comments about how masks "don't work." Actually, they do, or you wouldn't have seen them on all medical workers for the past hundred years or so, but I digress... Finally, after their work was "complete", I discovered that one of the circuits they had modified had no power. It took another couple of days and then they came out and fixed that. And just today we discovered that our solar wasn't generating. At all. So the ultimate cost was higher than what we paid them. One is two of the above complaints and I would have let it slide. With this many things wrong with their visit, though, this was a disaster. Their pricing was decent for the work, but not worth the hassle and close management required to prevent serious problems. We had a very poor overall experience with Mighty Bee and I would not be able to recommend them based on this experience. I want to be fair to Mighty Bee that most of our issues came with what ended up being horrible customer service and follow up and not all work related. I was treated with defensiveness and outright contempt by Martin across multiple emails and phone calls after the service. I'm not overly sensitive, but I can't think of another experience where I was treated as the enemy simply by questioning the finished product which I was not happy with and had multiple code violations. We purchased an electrical panel upgrade for an older home we bought in Arvada that had a 1960s junction box. Things were fine in terms of initial quote and appointment set up. I got back from travel and the panel was upgraded and as he left the house he mentioned to me in passing he could upgrade my kitchen to GFI (which will be required for a house this old). But that was the last I heard from Might Bee. They admitted later that they flat out forgot to follow up not only with me to confirm everything went well but with the city for the required inspection. But that was only because I followed up a few weeks later after my GC informed me that most of what Mighty Bee completed would have to be redone and also that much of it was not to current code. I raised this with Mighty Bee and this is when things went south. Again to be fair to Might Bee, a panel upgrade seems to be quite an arbitrary service based on what electrician you work with. I would highly recommend you do thorough research on not only what your home will need in total but what exactly is covered in the cost of a panel upgrade. Costs clearly vary based on inclusions. From my side of things and also 2 separate electricians (one who is simply my next door neighbor and had no financial skin in the game), Mighty Bee did the absolute minimum required in a box upgrade. The result was circuits were shared where they would normally (and now have been by another electrician) split so that half of the house didn't run on a double barred circuit. Things like running dryer lines separately are also required by current code, and by simply asking a few probing questions to the customer the electrician would should able to make recommendations about required upgrades, but genuinely upsell their own service. I got none of this from Might Bee. But when I questioned the work completed and cited advice from these other electricians, Martin at Mighty Bee reacted with anger and defensiveness, accusing the electricians of sabotaging his work, and calling them idiots and other accusations about trying to bad mouth him. Once again, one of the electricians was just a neighbor checking out our remodel. I didn't even ask him specifically, he took a look at the new box and brought up 5+ code violations and questions as to why Mighty Bee would have chosen to leave a new panel in that state given we were doing a full remodel and almost certainly would have a lot more electrical changes needed. As it turned out we did have to completely update the homes electrical set up. This meant that the work Mighty Bee completed has now been completely updated and we wasted $3,300 on the panel upgrade and had to deal with a complete jerk in Martin from Might Bee. To add insult to injury we told Mighty Bee we didn't want to have have them come back and requested a refund for the $370 to source a license (free and done online) and inspection, which he did over 3 weeks after the service, and only after I notified them. I requested a refund for that portion of the bill, to which he flatly refused with yet another contentious and rude email. Once again, I want to say that inherently Mighty Bee's panel upgrade wasn't "wrong." But again it was clearly the MINIMUM needed. Combine that with the responses we dealt with from Martin make it impossible for us to recommend Mighty bee. read more

Bad experience all around. First the electrician nicked our wall when investigating an outlet he didn't recognize, he made light of that, then a week after he had installed the Internet cable our connection went down and had to call Comcast. Some one from Comcast come out ASAP and fixed Mighty Bee's bad installation. We called Mighty Bee Electric to ask for a refund, spoke to the owner, Martin Black who at first refused, because he said we should have called them. Well, unfortunetly the job was done wrong by them the first time, why would we want them to attempt again? Next, he mailed us a letter saying he would refund $60 of the $180. We have yet to see any refund. Bad business. read more

Seems like something happened between 2012, when Mighty Bee received a couple of poor ratings, and 2014 onwards, when they receive stellar ratings. My rating is also high due to the great work they did on a Casablanca fan. I will use them again, without hesitation. read more

26 September 2015, we had Martin who owns Bumble Bee come out to give me an estimate for a total replacement of service panel, meter, meter base, ground, generator transfer panel etc. Took a couple weeks to get someone out but I realize it is a busy season. Anyway, the cost was a bit over $5000. I agreed to have the work done in writing right than and there because we were in a hurry to get the work done. So I asked when can we schedule the work. Martin told me his assistant electrician (don't recall his name) would contact me and set things up. I thought a week or 10 days and we should hear back. Wrong. Two weeks pass, than three weeks pass and no one contacted us. I thought they can't be that busy, afterall they made a commitment to do the work. So I contacted them on October 23rd by email and stated "we are still waiting to hear from somebody". A week later on October 30th, Martin emailed me and apologized for dropping the ball, but still did not give me a date to start the work. Mighty Bee does a lot of big commercial work according to Martin, so it appears a $5000 residential upgrade is not big enough to be taken too seriously. We are retired and to us this is a big project, and is a lot of money, and take it VERY seriously. What burns me is the time that we wasted waiting on this contractor to follow thru on their promise to do the work. I can't comment on the quality of the work they do, but I can comment on their customer service and their honoring their commitment, which is shameful. read more

Horrific experience. Called them in a pinch when I had electrical issues and they took full advantage. They tried to charge me $700 for 4 hours of work. $700!!!! Despicable. because they had a "big project" they couldn't come out until a week or so. totally unacceptable because i have no heat or electricity. i don't need the whole team, i need one person. i will never use them again. i'm not saying i should have special treatment, but when it's something like that i feel that coming out for at least an estimate should happen before a week. never use them, if they see human life as that unimportant because of a "huge project" they're not worth the money. read more
