Short version: Steve is a liar and is unlicensed…read more Long version: I was put in touch with Steve to install an EV charger. I needed a NJ licensed electrician to file a permit and do the install in order to qualify for various rebates, tax credits, etc. Steve presented himself to me, and to the person who referred him to me, as a NJ-licensed electrician. On the day he performed the work, he orally confirmed that he filed the permit. 3 weeks later when I still hadn't heard anything, I reached out and Steve told me "Let me give [the town] a call tomorrow." 3 more weeks later, with still no word, I followed up again. Steve told me "I'm following up on this today." This was the last time I heard from Steve. 4 weeks later brings us to today. Steve has been ignoring my calls, texts, and emails for a month. So I decided to take some action myself... I went ahead and called the town building department. There is *no* permit. Steve never filled it, despite telling me he did and promising to follow up on it several times. (Fun bonus: the town also told me that it never would've approved the permits for the work the way Steve performed it because its not up to code.) This lead me to look up Steve's license number and I learned that he does *not* currently have an active license. Steve lied to me about his licensure status and the permit in order to get work.

My dad passed and as the executor, I put his home up for sale. I found an invoice for the installation from July of 2022 from Lees Plumbing and Heating. I called, told Lee and asked him to correct things since it was newly installed. He asked me to send him photos and a copy of the invoice which I did. After 3 days, still no response back (and I called back twice) so now I am forced to hire another plumber to correct a faulty installation which I am told will take hours and about $400-600. Unreal!
