I called because of the great reviews but now I wonder if they are real. Two of them seem similar with their ''call Josh'' statements. He arrived hours late. He did call to let me know but it was a little annoying to get these calls every half an hour for several hours. I asked for various things to be put up on the wall. He got the stuff up fairly quickly, but he put in quite a few holes more than necessary mostly because the walls reacted badly in some places. (One of the extra holes resulted from him just being careless about measurement.) He said that you never know how a wall is going to react, and the walls were really ruined in several places. Maybe it's true that there is no way to tell how the material is going to react, but he didn't bring any materials to fix the terrible rippling holes left in the wall. I had to call another handyman afterwards to fix that! read more

Other installation companies were much slower in responding. If you haven't mounted an HDTV before, but think you can "just figure it out", I'd suggest you rethink this idea. I hired Josh as I didn't want to mess anything up with a $2,000 HDTV and having watched him do his work from start to finish, all I can say is thank god I didn't try this myself. It requires a lot more effort than you think and if you want to be 100% sure that nothing will go wrong during/after the installation (e.g. your TV doesn't sit parallel to the floor or it falls off its mount after you install it), hire Josh who has mounted well over a thousand TVs in his life. He had the correct mount for my tv and was efficient in putting it into my brick wall. He has been doing this for years and thus is quite experienced. I used Josh for a tv mount installation. Reader's Digest version: Josh is awesome; call him today. I contacted him and was able to set up an appointment within the week. We agreed on a price beforehand, which was cheaper than others I had researched in my area. Our 42-inch inherited tv is an older model that doesn't fit modern mounts, but Josh was able to adapt to the situation on the spot and securely put our tv up. Joshua just finished mounting my my 50ish inch TV onto a wall in my approximately 100-year-old apartment. i.e. it's made of newspaper and spackle, essentially. That said, he managed to safely mount the TV efficiently, quickly and professionally and now my living room has a lot more space! I found him via the reviews on Yelp, so I wanted to add my own thoughts here to back it up that he is, indeed, definitely someone you should go to if you're looking to have some complicated or potentially hazardous work around your living space. I thought I was smart, so I went to Bestbuy, found out what to buy and of course bought it somewhere else cheaper & no way I pay a standard $300 installation from Bestbuy so that's when I called Josh after I saw the Yelp review. It was great that Josh works weekend (I'm slave to my job). During configuration we realized while my bracket is great it doesn't fit my poor old model flat screen. I was ready to give up hope .... Lucky for me that Josh actually has some wall mount in his track that fits the job. Josh ends up installing the whole thing for me, saves the day and I cannot be happier with my new wall-mount and setup (by the way, did I mentioned it cost me way less then buying the bracket separately & have it install? After many months of trying to unsuccessfully mount my flat screen to the unique contours of my apartment (dry wall behind a closet), I finally decided to listen to my angry girlfriend and call a professional. I am very glad that I did, and more specifically that I found Josh. While I am not usually the type to burn so many calories on a review, because I found Ovation Installs through the Yelp community, I feel a civic duty to help all of those other lost souls starring at the unrealized potential of their unmounted television sets. Yes, I take my TV watching very seriously. Luckily for me, so does Ovation Installs. From the onset, Josh was very professional in our communications and he was more than willing to accommodate my busy schedule (as per my request, he came over around 9:00 PM on a Wednesday night). The actual set up was surprisingly quick and I couldn't be happier with the end result. As an OCD-type I was very impressed with his attention to detail and it was evident in the final product. I was particularly concerned about the structural damage that might result from such a heavy mount and my particular wall, but that was put to rest when he rather amusingly lifted his 6'2' 200+ body on the mount to demonstrate its integrity. Overall it exceeded expectations. Having said all of that, the best part about the process was not the quality of the work (fantastic), or the person doing the work (amiable and professional), but the price. As someone who likes to save money (i.e. your average american), I was particularly satisfied with the price of his services, which is significantly lower than elsewhere (evidently mounted televisions are recession-proof). In conclusion: If you have a few extra hundred dollars to waste for sub-par work, call Best Buy. Otherwise, go with Josh. read more

Josh came all the way up to our 6 floor walk up, tolerated our absurdly obese housecats, and did a beautiful install job on our brand new 40" LED LCD TV. We saw great reviews on Yelp and were not let down. The highlights: - Josh was very communicative and responsive - He was professional and demonstrated expert knowledge of TV installation - He was clean; he offered to sweep up the dust off our floor after he was done with his work - He was funny and personable, which made the time fly by. Josh shared with us that he also hangs pictures, blinds, other window treatments, and that he also handles many aspects of Audio/Visual component install and management. I was extremely satisfied. I would say Ovation--Josh--is the smartest choice for hanging a TV... at least in NYC. The lack of wood studs in my wall was no feat for Josh, who skillfully, and safely, mounted my 55" LED TV using the wall's steel studs. Josh's rates are great--much less than BestBuy etc. There wasn't a sacrifice in quality, either. I would recommend Josh for any TV mounting job. Although some report difficulty, I found scheduling easy. I called Tuesday. We made a tentative plan for same day installation, but rescheduled for Thursday. He arrived right on time. read more

I had a dinner party on Sunday night and Josh came through extremely last minute to install a huge chandelier in my dining room. The person I originally had scheduled canceled on me so I started reaching out to several people on yelp. Josh was the only one that was responsive and communicated with me the cost and time it would take to get the job done. Other places would not offer me a quote but Josh did over the phone. He came on time and hung the chandelier efficiently and professionally. He even made sure to cover the dining table so that it doesn't get damaged. When I moved to my apartment in Hell's Kitchen earlier this year I had two LCD TVs I needed mounted onto the wall (in my living room and bedroom). The task was a bit tricky because the walls are red brick and the wires cannot be fished to conceal the wiring. I called three different companies and Ovation Installs was by far the easiest to work with from the very beginning. After a brief phone consultation with Josh, I immediately knew that this was the best company for the job. He told me all the equipment I needed (and provided it at WAY less than Best Buy or even Tiger Direct) and literally took care of every detail for preparing the installation. He was very thorough in offering ideas to hide the wires and ultimately hand-painted a special concealing tube that seamlessly blends in with the red brick. In fact, I would have to point out what was done to hide the wires, or you would never know. When people come over they often comment on how good my TVs look on the wall. I always tell them about Josh and Ovation Installs and highly recommend him. He is responsible, professional, reasonably priced and a very hard worker (he even came back to my apartment a week later to make sure the TV over my fireplace in the bedroom was adjusted correctly and at the right tilt for viewing in bed). He even helped me install a floating shef above my TV in the living room. I'm reviewing a little late. This happened awhile ago but I stopped (before I ever really started) Yelping and since I gave Josh such a glowing review last time I felt like I needed to change it since he failed me the second time. I was really excited about how great the first experience was. Josh came the next day, was super personable, and completed a television wall mount in about 45 minutes. The reason this guy has so many Yelp reviews is because he asks his customers to review him. I was happy to (despite my Yelp hiatus) because I had such a great experience with him. I don't think that all the five star reviews on here are disingenuous. About a month or two later I gave him a call with a laundry list of items, asking him if he could come ASAP. He told me he would call me back but that he may be able to come that evening. Never heard back so I called him that evening and he apologized and said if I called him tomorrow, he would be able to tell me a definite time for that same day. So I call the next day and he says he'll call me back. Again, he never called me back so I called that evening and he told me for the second time if I called tomorrow he could definitely send out a guy then. So I called him the next day, he said he called me back, and I never heard from him again. And that was that. So, three stars. Five for the first experience, 0 for the second. read more

As not to miss a weekend of football, we booked the installation on the same day we moved in. Independent, efficient and affordable. I was not his friend, he wasn't referred and I never saw an ad for his company. I read the yelp reviews and gave him a text. (Mind you, I called other "professional" companies too.) Josh was the only one to text and call me back on the same day, come on the same day and have my TV mounted up on the wall in less than an hour. His price was better than any other I could find online, he made great conversation and like all the other yelpers, I was impressed that he cleaned the mess mounting a TV to a wall can make. It's all in the details and he had all the details, big and small, down to a science. I will never think twice about who I should call for any kind of A/V service in the future.
