I have been working with Miel Construction for a little over the past year. After a great experience renovating my home's master bathroom, I've had them back to handle a home office renovation as well as a powder room renovation thus far. To share a few thoughts: - My home has an odd layout, mixing open-concept with split-level, so rooms do not begin and end in conventional places. This leads to odd requests on projects (e.g. "paint half of this wall"). Miel has been extremely understanding of the house, which has helped me tackle projects in a way that works with my budget. - Texts during the week always have very timely responses, and work is stood behind in the event of a small goof here and there. - As someone who enjoys DIY projects and is very invested in the materials and design choices I make, Miel has been extremely accomodating to develop quotes where I provide various materials (door hardware, marble, etc.). That allows me to get exactly the look I want, without needing to be my own contactor. Five stars does not suggest that there has never been any mistakes ever. Small things are bound to happen here and there, just as I'm sure they would with any contractor. I do think I have a five star partnership with Miel, and when issues arise, I can count on them to be resolved in a reasonable manner. I look forward to more future projects with Miel. read more

I made numerous requests for this company to give me an estimate on a fair amount of work I needed done on an old house I'd purchased. I received a response telling me that they would be out "soon" and they took down my address and contact info. After a couple of months, I contacted them again... I got the same response. A couple of months more... same thing except this time, I was asked to check the foundation. The person told me to use app "measurement"... which I did. I sent them a message with the results of the measurements and I've never heard from them again... aside from some "ads", telling me how great that are. Yeah, right! I believe it's been 8 MONTHS, now, since the initial contact. I'd say, if you are looking to have any work done within a YEAR or two... DON'T call these folks!!! read more

In October, the project manager was very quick to come out and take notes. I was impressed by his professional manner and his meticulous measurements. That's all I got because I never saw him again. I waited for him to send an estimate. He didn't. I asked him again through Yelp messaging and text. He said he's busy but he will be sure to give me a response after Thanksgiving. I sent one final message on Dec 12. Still nothing. Maybe my project was not worthy of his time. Maybe there was not enough money in it for him. I don't know. But if this is how the company operates when trying to get an estimate, I doubt the actual construction will run any smoother. read more

We wanted to remove two load bearing walls. Went on yelp to find a competent contractor. Michael responded immediately and was available the next day. By far the best price and he is very knowledgeable. He carries insurance and made sure to pull a city permit for the work. Michael suggested to go with a 12x12 cedar post. Total overkill but it was for looks since we wanted exposed beams. We couldn't be happier with the result. He is our go to contractor from now on. Honest and reliable! read more

Mike was very knowledgeable about what we could and could not do. He was also able to give us advice on what the city inspectors would require of him to do before approving the work done. When you call them out on it, they come back with some lame excuse. They then offer to go out if still needed and when you try to get them scheduled in, they flake again! Thank you Michael for completing a big project on a very tight deadline. We had guests coming for Christmas. He finished on a Saturday morning and our guests arrived on Saturday afternoon. Carpet and painting 4 bedrooms. Replacing drywall and studs and headers in the living room. Complete remodel of the kitchen, including drywall, cabinets, countertop and backsplash, and installing new appliances. Replacing all the a/c ducts. Electrical switches and outlets, lighting in the living room and kitchen. Window replacements. Painting and trash removal. We just had a house restoration project done with Miel Construction, after water damage. Mike has been very knowledgeable and professional when coordinating the entire project. The painters and carpenters did a wonderful job: quick and high-quality work. There have been some snafu and delay with the flooring part of the project. Our guest bathroom tub surface was chipping pretty badly in several areas. We already had the tub refinished twice at this point and the chipping had become worst than before and very noticeable. I was at the point of a complete remodel to a stand shower or new tub installation. I did a search on local tub repairs in the area and came across Miel Construction on Yelp. I reviewed some of the images on the website and contacted Mike the next day. He responded quickly as was available to do a walk thru of the bathroom to provide a consultation and estimate. He recommended a new tub installation which required a little more construction work to the space to accommodate the installation. We even added a new shower box to the project. We are very pleased with the end result. Mike and his team were very patient and accommodating to all our questions and request.
