Bottom line: they are amazing and I've only had great experiences with Kat. I can't talk about the doctors, but the care I've received with the nurse practitioner, Kat, is top notch. I have felt welcome and listened to by both her, all the nurses, and the office staff every time I visit. Perviously I had been going to an allergist in the suburbs where there was a lot of finger pointing for symptoms. For example, tonsil stones were blamed on my teeth (it definitely wasn't my teeth) and I was told to talk to my dentist. However, at MASA Kat looked at the same symptoms and said things that made sense. She listens and then explains how weird symptoms actually are connected back to other things you are experiencing. To be honest, going here has restored my faith in the PRACTICE of medicine. I recommend MASA and Kat specifically for anyone looking for an allergist in the Bloomington-Normal area. read more

They were super rude to me, then proceeded to send me the wrong medication. On top of that they told me the wrong dosage of the medicine. When I checked with the pharmacy, they said the dosage that they prescribed could send you into seizures. When they were informed of this by us they were nonchalant about it. Kat was so rude she implied that my lungs were terrible ,and that I should take my medication more often ,but they didn't send it for about two weeks . read more

I'm not the type to put in any bad reviews on anyone's business but this one does earn one because they made it very clear that they REFUSED deaf patients even if they do not have to have sign language interpreters, but can use pen and notepad but still REFUSE to accept any DEAF patients. I wouldn't call this friendly doctor or professional doctor for anyone. This doctor is clearly VERY discriminating toward to Deaf community! It has nothing to do with insurance or any other reasons but made it very clear that NO deaf patients will be accept by this doctor! Never in my life ever been turned down by any doctor like this. No one should ever be treated like this and turn away without a good reason but discriminating is not a good one. read more

They helped me more than any other doctor's office and really listen. I know they are short staffed because of this dumb pandemic but I felt very safe and grateful for my care. They stayed open for patients when I couldn't get into other doctors. read more

This place is absolutely horrible. Their communication with patients is horrendous regarding billing and future treatment. I had told the people at the front desk that I no longer wanted to continue being seen here and I have continuously been billed since then. They have no good explanation for the reasoning behind the fact that I have been billed for treatment that I never received. I tried calling them multiple times and never hear back from them about anything. This is just another great example of the crooked ways medical practices get away with when it comes to stealing their patients money. They don't care about individuals' problems at all. TL DR: Very disorganized, poor communication with patients, insurance compatibility not clear I've been going to MASA Normal office since late 2019. Before COVID they were just "alright." I can recall I think only one time I actually saw the Dr. Been going for well over a year now and I couldn't even tell you what the Dr. looks like. The people giving the shots (nurses? medical assistants?) never seemed to understand what dose level I was at and didn't accurately explain to me what frequency appointments needed to be scheduled. I was just very confused about when to schedule shots and asking the staff did not create any clarity. Other allergy offices in other states I've lived allowed drop in shots between 9-4:30pm. You were in and out in 35 mins. MASA wants everything scheduled, which is a hassle but I understand. After COVID this place has been just one huge frustration. They changed it to where the front door was locked and you call them when you arrive for your shot, then you come in and get the shot and can wait in your car. This makes sense as health and safety should be priority 1 of both patients and staff. Great idea, except when you call the phone line often defaulted to the Springfield office. I would ask to be let in and the Springfield people would say "what are you talking about, just walk in and get your shot." There's some severe miscommunication going on. They have to run through COVID screening questions, which makes sense and I understand the need. The problem is, I can call them and schedule an appointment, but then they then call me back, sometimes only like 10 minutes late to do the screening questions. Or I'll make the appointment, and five minutes later they call me back to confirm. Why wouldn't you just do it when I made the appointment? ALSO, you must use your email or text message to confirm the appointment you just made. I understand they are trying to be safe, and that's appreciated, but they really need to work on their workflow and scheduling. Eventually, when COVID died down they let people come inside and things were alright. But, then cases spiked in mid November they went back to having you wait in your car. That's fine. I arrived a little early for a scheduled shot, and called the front desk, they (maybe Teri?) said they would have staff meet me at the middle door. 5 minutes go by. 10 minutes, 15 minutes. Still no one. I finally decide to call them again (remember, the door's locked I can't poke my head in and ask). I'm waiting through their lengthy automated phone system when the nurse finally appears at the door. She said, "no one told me you were here".It is just unacceptable and wastes a lot of time. The last issue I have may be partly an insurance company issue. I have Healthlink insurance. Two times they charged me a copay I was not supposed to pay. I thought it was odd, but went ahead and paid it so I could get my shot. When I get home and check the Healthlink site, it says that they are now "out of network," but no one told me that. They were "in network" for over a year, why suddenly out of network. I had to call MASA several times, they said they are supposed to be in-network and would refund the erroneously paid copays. I think they are working with Healthlink. They still don't have it sorted out. It's been going on since October (now mid December). And all the while they keep sending me bills I'm not supposed to pay, and when I come in for shots they say "you have an OUTSTANDING balance" and I have to go through this whole spiel about insurance not being sorted out on their end. I am beyond frustrated with this medical provider. If there were any other allergist in Bloomington Normal that was in my insurance network I'd probably go see them. But then again, this one is all screwed up with my insurance as it is so maybe I should just leave. read more
