Dinosaur Land is a fabulous tourist attraction that could be in a Chevy Chase movie. Life size…read moredinosaur sculptures and a few other creatures fill the forest of this Shenandoah Valley wonder. Joseph Geraci started Dinosaur Land back in 1967. Thirty five of the original dinosaurs were created by James Sidwell, who was famous for his dinosaur replicas at the Field Museum in Chicago. Newer dinosaurs and creatures were crafted by Mark Cline, a local artist. I spoke with Geraci's granddaughter, who works in the gift shop. She explained that her grandfather passed away 40 years ago and her mother now owns the park. Four generations of Geraci's have worked at the park. Admission is $7 for kids under eleven and $9 for all others. Visitors can take photos up close with the dinosaurs and other creatures including a giant octopus. The self-guided tour takes 30-60 minutes. The park is open from March through December. The gift shop is filled with tee shirts, toy dinos, postcards, books, glassware and other souvenirs. Dinosaur Land is a fun place to take the kids or your favorite dinosaur enthusiast. The sculptures are amazing works of art.

There really isn't much in the way of exhibitors or other things, though there was a demolition derby! If you have small kids, I think the fair would be a great day out for them, but as an adult couple we were done in little over an hour seeing everything.

The birthday party included slushies for the kids which they could fill at the snack bar right next to the party rooms. There are plenty of activities for kids of all ages. A few things could be improved. The bathrooms were not that clean and out of paper towels. The ball pit was not contained at all, and there were plastic balls everywhere. The foam pits at the ninja course at pretty shallow and could ideally be twice as deep if not more. And there is very little actual supervision- kids climbing up slides, throwing balls at each other, racing around without any regard for smaller kids. The staff was friendly, but there is room for improvement.

The owner/person in charge of the place will not allow any customer to use and access their debit card in order to not be charged the 5%. This has been going on for years and is absolutely absurd. Your sign says 5% charge on a credit card. There is no sign for charge on debit card, but the owner/ person in charge of the place will not allow customers to use debit card by entering their pin number. Debit cards should not be charged 5%. It's illegal and it shouldn't be discriminated to use a debit card. They get away with this additional charge due to not allowing customers to choose their debit and enter in their pin. SIGN IS POSTED CHARGE ON CREDIT CARDS 5%.

The one flow rider that they have - the two guys running it let a person on and gave them all sorts of time if they liked the person. 4 people were in front of my kids and it took more than 45 min for them to get a turn. So not worth the wait. Granted we have been to Hershey Park water park which is about 10x+ bigger than this waterpark. We also are close to Kalahari and Great Wolf both of which have larger water parks than this place. Overall review 2.5 stars - again little kids would probably have a great time. We came here with our homeschool group and this was so fun for all ages...from the littlest to the…read moreoldest! They have a shorter/easier course for the little ones who aren't tall enough to go up to the two higher courses. My 8 year old really enjoyed the challenge of the course. Some paths were easier than others and took some time to go through. We had 12 kids in our group and there was plenty of room for all of them to be on the course at the same time. The instructors that hooked them up with the harnesses was very kind and patient with all the kids. The weather was beautiful this day and so they really took their time on the ropes. I would imagine this might be rough to do in the summer heat though.

During my visit, I witnessed the course operator make a female guest cry. Her child (maybe 5 yrs…read moreold) was new to the country and didn't speak English very well. He came to the exit and the operator disconnected him before his parent could explain that he couldn't get back on. When the mother asked for an exception due to the language barrier, she was told that if he's going to be in America then he need to speak English. He then left his post to confront another guest who was nearby that told him his behavior was very rude. She told him to get out of her face and to walk away and he refused. Meanwhile, there are multiple people waiting to exit the course because he was too preoccupied trying to intimidate a woman. I've never seen an employee represent a tourist attraction so poorly. My family and I won't be coming back nor will I encourage any of my friends to go. But if you're looking for something new with a side of sexism and racism, have at it.
