I know this is a little long. So, if you want to cut to the chase of this review scroll down to "*** And this is what happened". I have only been moved to write a review two other times in my life. Once was to commend outstanding service. Sadly, this is not even remotely the case this time. The food at this establishent is decent enough. Just a little above ok. I will not argue that. I know many of you may frequent this establishment and have had no issues. But as a Groton resident, I feel it is important that our local businesses are held to a minimum standard for treatment of their patrons. Even if only one customer is treated this way, it is one too many. I doubt I'm the only one, considering I read at least one review complaining of "rudeness". Here is my story. Earlier this evening we made a delivery order to this establishment. We were told it would arrive in 45 min.There is an event tonight that all we locals are aware of that includes fireworks. So we knew that it might even take longer because they may have been busy. After an 1 hour +15 mins we called to check the status of our order. We were told the delivery driver was "there now". We looked out the window, then down the street. No one. We waited 15 min and called again to make sure the driver had the right address. We were told by a man that he should have a while ago and that he would call him. A few minutes later our order finally arrived. We ordered an item listed on their menu as $9.50 and another listed as $10.50. (The menu does say "prices subject to change at any given time" in small print at the bottom, hmm). The driver told us we owed $33+... but he was going to give us a $5 discount for the delay. Great. But $33 ?! We were a little dumbfounded. But we figured we'd just see what the error was on the receipt. Except that when we gave him our cash and asked if the receipt was there he REFUSED to give us a receipt or the ticket order with prices or anything with the charges! He said, exact quote "no, we need it for our register". Um, ok.? So we we tipped him and figured we would call the restaurant to figure it out with them. I called them myself and told the lady on the phone that we were ok with the order being so late but the bill seemed a little high. That's right, I really did say that we were ok with the late part. That's how polite I was. That is why I was chosen to make the call. I told her what we ordered. *** And this is what happened... She said hold on. She handed the phone to another woman, presumably an owner or manager who got on the phone and said... "My girl says you are lying". I thought I heard her incorrectly, so I explained what we ordered and the fact that I actually READ THE PRICES of the items to the person when I made the order so as to get the right size and only wanted to know if there was a mistake. And her reply... "She says you are a liar!" I asked her to repeat that and she did. No mistaking it this time. Dumbfounded again, I told her I have no reason to lie and just wanted to know what we were charged for. But do you really need to talk to a customer this way. I think we received the wrong order. What followed was no better. It was the most offensive unprofessional treatment I have ever encountered from a food service establishment. I worked in the field myself for many years. This woman proceeded to tell me there is delivery charge that is not on the menu and they don't have to put it on there. We were not charged this on our two other previous orders. But fine. But then she continues on to tell me some nonsense about how we are far away and that's why the charge. Which considering that she next asked me where we live tips me off that this was a fabrication. By the way, we live a little over 3 miles away from the restaurant! And the roads between us and them were not at all busy (checked on traffic app). It was all just shocking. She was raising her voice. Downright trying to bully me. I don't enjoy admitting she almost had me in tears! At this point I did not want her to know how upset I was. I asked if her calling me names when I was asking for her help was really neccessary. I asked her if this was ethical, professional and legal even? She told me that they don't have to give receipts, reveal delivery charges ahead of time, fix my order or anything else and that she did not have time for me. I was finally livid. I told her that it seemed like she was taking our money and verbally abusing me and I was starting to think that if this wasn't illegal, it was certainly unethical. The other person that was with me heard the whole thing. He was so shocked and appalled that he wanted to go speak to someone at the restaurant. I told him don't bother. I guess it helps that we live right down the street, but this is our go-to place for pizza. We always get the special with extra garlic, and if I want to treat myself, a roast beef grinder. It is all to die for! Sure it is a hole in the wall place, but its perfect for our neighborhood. I have noticed I don't necessarily *love* their strombolis, but its just the one I order, I think. I get vegetarian stromboli, and I'm used to green peppers, instead of red peppers. Well, I got it and it had red peppers, and it didn't totally ruin my experience, it was just... different. So different that my little narrow minded brain will probably just ask next time to use green peppers. They loose one star for strange hours, and yeah sometimes at 8pm on a Saturday I need to order last minute because the boyfriend is too drunk and I can't come up with something fast for him to absorb his alcohol/curb our hunger, and I can't order from them because they're "closed". The owners wife is very rude on a consistent basis. Tonight I ordered a BLT "club" sandwich which is triple decker with fries, I was sent instead a BLT sandwich which is half the price, no fries, smaller. When I called to alert this woman about the mistake that's been made she couldn't care less! told me flat out she can't trust what I'm saying to her without seeing the ticket from her driver? Then tells me she'll call me when her driver gets back. It's been almost 2 hours! I guess I just overpaid for this cold sandwich "which I just ate" because I felt like I was going to pass out. I called in an order of spaghetti and a cheeseburger grinder. The woman on the phone was rude, and had me repeat my order three times before confirming it (rather than placing me on hold, if she was busy). I walked in to grab my food, but alas, the woman who took the order did not mark which grinders on the counter was which. So the woman in front of me proceeds to open up the grinder WITH BARE HANDS and root through the lettuce and tomato on top to see which type of meat the grinder contained. She found the right one and put my order in front of me. I told her I no longer wanted the grinder, because she put her BARE HANDS through it, so naturally she turns and THROWS the no longer wanted grinder on the counter behind her in a huff. I called later to complain to the manager about the food handling and customer service. He couldn't care less. He basically said that because I didn't want the bacteria ridden hand grinder and didn't eat it, than why was I calling? Bottom line: questionable food handling abilities and poor customer service by staff and apathetic management. read more

Absolutely disgusting pizza. Horrible crust and extremely sweet sauce. Pizza was partially burnt.

If you want some meaty pizza, this is definitely the place to go. The staff was so friendly and helpful the first time we went there which was the cherry on top. They even gave us free rice pudding (what what?!). Don't judge by the looks of the outside because this pizza is where it is at! read more

Unfortunately, I didn't eat here, but I had interaction with the business that made write this review. Called in for a calzone, told me it was $2 more than what the menu said, then he told me that it would cost $2 for delivery, even though menu says free delivery within 2 miles. So, the calzone would cost $14 bucks... and to make it worse, the guy doesn't even know where the Groton Inn and Suites is... the oldest hotel in the area! read more

I was in town for the week visiting my boyfriend and we were craving pizza sooo...we decided to try this place out. It was not disappointing! The employees were really nice. Specifically, the baker/cashier who attended us; he killed it. And the pizza was great! I wish there were more places like this in Florida. Five stars for you midway pizza! read more

This is the best pizza place in groton/ southeastern ct. They're pizza is perfect Greek style pizza- crispy, but greasy crust. Also love theyre Greek salad. And maybe the best is they deliver. If you order 2 large pizzas, you get a free small pizza AND often they throw in rice pudding. I grew up on midway pizza and no other place like it. read more

The restaurant is in a strange location, right near town hall, and has little ambience to recommend it, but if you like tuna grinders, these are some of the best I have found in the Groton area. I can't speak for anything else, but I consider myself something of a tuna grinder aficionado, and this is a good one. read more

Stay away. Literally got in an argument with them on the phone while ordering a pizza. They had coupons in the 2019 Fitch Falcons Premium discount pack that are good until 3/31/20 (9 months from now) for a free small cheese pizza with the order of any large two topping pizza. Initial argument was that coupon was only good during the baseball season - apparently the expiration date doesn't matter. Additional argument regarding delivery ensued after they agreed to accept the coupon 'anyway'. Anyway??? It isn't expired! How the heck are you doing us a favor by accepting it 'anyway'? Then they changed the story to 'you can use the coupon if you come pick it up'. Apparently they weren't going to deliver it because they were already doing us a favor. The only issue is they had multiple coupons in this Falcons Premium Discount pack and had delivered to us with a previous coupon. After being tired of arguing we finally hung up. Five minutes later we get a call back with a message saying if you really want the pizza we'll sell it to you and deliver it. Yeah - your pizza was only average without spit in it. We ordered from you because you were one of the few places that deliver to our neighborhood. We're done with you. I have been getting pizza here for 10 years. I eat in and get take out. The owner has always been great. I have never had any issues until tonight. I called to place an order. It was for one large pie, as I usually order. I often place this order for delivery. I politely asked if it was to late for delivery and was told it was not to late. The woman then asked me how I would be paying. I told her cash. The woman then said "he will not deliver a pepperoni pizza." Then hung up. I'm sorry, I thought you were in the pizza business. My mistake! Obviously, business must being going great for you guys. I'm glad you can afford to lose a customer, or two, or three or four. Don't offer delivery then, or be consistent with delivery policy. Your not the only pizza place in town. I'm sure New York Family pizza would love to take my business. Definitely our favourite place to get pizza in Groton. The pizza, grinders, and sides are all tasty... but what tops the menu are their buffalo wings. The wings themselves are huge, and the sauce is simple but delicious. They're certainly classic buffalo wings but are amazing! read more

Ordered a large pizza (half cheese / half topping) at 6:15pm on a Wednesday for delivery. They said it would be 45 mins. At 7pm the driver called and asked where we lived (guess he doesn't use GPS- they had our address). Our pizza wasn't delivered until 7:45 and it was barely warm. The driver was not friendly. While vacationing in Groton, we decided to stop in for lunch. We both had a grinder, one turkey (cold) and one grilled chicken (hot)- they we both delicious! The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but the staff was nice and the food was good. So much so that we went back for pizza and salad for dinner! We ordered the house special pizza and a chef salad, again both we're delicious. The pizza was crispy and chewy with lots of toppings. The salad was crisp and fresh.
