I attended a 4-hour lesson here via a Groupon. Not really having ridden a motorcycle much at all before, I wasn't really sure what to expect. Mark, the instructor, operates it out of his garage and on his substantial property. That said, it was a full and smooth operation. He's a former racer and team owner. Most groups are around 6 or so, ours was just 3 people due to some last-minute cancellations. We were outfitted with jerseys, pants, boots, helmet, and goggles (he has a full selection of sizes). The bikes worked well and felt well cared for. About 3 of our hours was in a large flat grass field getting instruction and practicing fundamentals, such as accelerate/brake, turns, controlled skid, proper body position / balance / transition, etc. Mark really drilled us on these fundamentals, provided clear instructions and feedback, explained the theory, and I learned a ton. Mark did not just put us novices on bikes and turn us loose to get hurt, he showed us how to ride with real technique, and had a structured program, and nobody got hurt. He starts with the assumption that you've never ridden a motorcycle before. Once we got on the dirt track for the final hour, it became clear how important these fundamentals were. We started slow working on turns, then added some washboard bumps, then larger bumps, then tiny jumps, then faster and larger jumps. It was all very graduated and progressive. I did take about 3 spills during the day, but on the grass and soft dirt at low speed it didn't hurt. I gained a new appreciation of the complexity of dirt biking, and left very tired and thirsty. After drinking a litre of water during the lesson, I downed a 32oz Gatorade at the end of the lesson, and went home and took a nap. Be sure to pack plenty of liquids, and take your camera for some cool pictures. We spent a ton of time riding the bikes, with just a couple short breaks - you get a lot of riding time. Bottom line: it was exciting, fun, instructive, memory-making, fulfilling, and exhausting. I am moving gingerly today with a lot of sore muscles, but it was definitely worth it. If you want to give dirt biking a try, I can't think of anything that Mark could have done better. Not only do you get to ride, but do so safely, and learn how to do it right. read more

I took my son Christian, 8 years old, for a lesson a few months ago and been going there ever since. I wanted my son to know how to properly ride a dirt bike so I Googled motocross in NC. I purchased a 2 hour class and it was well worth it! I even learned a thing or two just watching my son learn. My wife didn't want my son riding AT ALL! But, after going to the class, she's ok with him riding. Mr. Mark did a GREAT job. My son had a great time riding with his son Dylan. We ended up buying riding gear from there as well. There are two tracks, one for beginners and a larger one for more seasoned riders. It's a nice, friendly atmosphere. My son REALLY loves going there. The other riders are mindful of each other and they will give pointers as well. We will continue to go back! I have read some of the negative reviews, but we have NEVER had a bad experience there. Rip Off. Bought Groupon for teenage unexperienced rider. Like everyone, there was a wreck. It happens. Wasn't the first or last one of the day, or while we were there. Dudes running the place tried to tell us of all this extensive damage. I ride bikes, grew up on them.....the damage that supposedly occurred didn't add up. Their insurance waiver is a joke. As they were "assessing the damage", they tried to charge us in access of $500+++. Really? I know bikes, I know what they cost to fix. I figure many people come here and they pull this scam on anyone who crashes, who doesn't know any better about the cost of fixing them. I'm sure they make a killing at it. They were already adding up someone else's damages while there.... Needless to say, we'll be disputing their charges. Great scam....too bad I know better. read more

Very disappointed in their hours of operation. For those of it's that work, most of us go from 9 to 5 easily and have kids activities on Saturdays . Being open on a Sunday would be great for those of us unable to make it during the week. ACCOMMODATING is the word. Just a suggestion. read more

We spent the day with our boys at Midsouth MotoX. Geordan was our instructor and did an amazing job with the boys. He sized them with the correct bikes and then helped them get comfortable with them. He spent lots of time helping them use the clutch and taught them the proper way to use the brakes. Then, he showed them how to keep control in the turns. Lastly, he took them out on the track and they learned how to jump. They can't wait to go back. Great job Geordan! read more

Just FYI.... this review is written by Karen Y, Greg Y's wife And we live in Cary, NC (not California). Computers! Sigh. For her 16th birthday, my daughter asked to ride a dirt bike. She loves to try new things and riding a dirt bike sounded to her like a cool thing to do. So I went online and discovered Midsouth MotoX. Because I wanted to make sure that her birthday was a hit, I, along with my husband, took a drive to see the spot before booking. It was a gorgeous drive - about an hour away from where I live in Cary. I came home, described the place to my daughter, and she said it sounded like what she was looking for. So I crossed my fingers and booked. As soon as I booked, I contacted Mark both by email and text. He got back to me that same evening and said he'd contact me the following day to let me know if he could get her into his schedule that coming weekend since it was for her birthday. As promised, he got back to me the following day with a time for that weekend. On our scheduled day, my husband, daughter and I made the drive to Midsouth MotoX. Mark was ready for us when we arrived, greeting both my daughter and me by name. He had the equipment set out and ready for my daughter to put on, and after she was suited up (and looking super cool), I got to take a few pictures (a mom thing!) before the lesson began. What was really nice, though, is that Mark also took a ton of video (and some photos) throughout the lesson and sent them all to my phone. His videos and photos that he sent me were awesome. Then the lesson began. Let me just say that Mark is an exceptional teacher. I teach middle school math in Wake County, and I know that it takes a lot of skill to be able to convey something that is second nature to you to someone who has never done it before. And it takes a lot of patience and an encouraging, positive attitude, all of which Mark has. I highly recommend him if you are ever looking for someone to teach your child (or you!) how to ride a dirt bike. My daughter had the best 16th birthday ever! read more

This is the 1st time I ever regretted purchasing a Living Social voucher. These people were rude and disorganized. Upon arrival I learned this track is in an individual's back yard(Should have read the fine print more closely). On the day of our scheduled ride, even though I didn't receive a cancellation notice - no one was waiting at the entrance to the back yard fence displaying MidSouth Motox's sign. The vouchers require me to give Midsouth MotoX 5 days/120hr notice If I planned not to show up on schedule. Otherwise they have the option to forfeit my vouchers. So I wouldn't be at risk of forfeiture, I tried to call and email this business before I returned home so I could confirm that they knew I was where I was supposed to be at the time of the ride. The garage at the home was open and people were stirring around inside the house. I decided to knock on the door/ring the doorbell - no one answered. We went back to the gate to wait. We weren't even entirely sure we were even at the right place. After waiting an hour, hoping they would reply to my email or respond to the 2 messages I left on their answering machine, I finally decided to give up and go home. My daughter begged to try knocking on the door a 2nd time. This time a child answered ... but was followed by a woman who confirmed the location and told me to wait before she shut the door and went back inside. About 15 minutes later, Mark called my cell phone while standing inside looking out of his window - while I was standing in his front yard to rudely inform me he decided to cancel the ride due to weather ... he just forgot to let me know. It drizzled that morning - which is why I checked my email and called multiple times (Round trip my ride is about 3 hours to visit MSMX). However, by the time I reached Mark's home, the drizzle had stopped and it didn't rain until later in the day. During Mark's brief phone call he said he didn't get to bed until after 2am and wasn't in the mood for any complaints. Even after driving that far and waiting an additional hour for MSMX to reply, I still hated to disappoint my kids. Which is why I asked Mark if we could just return the following day when the forecast was good. We had set the weekend aside for this event and the kids were really looking forward to riding with him. I didn't make this request in any sort of rude manner ... that would be a stupid thing to do, if I was still considering letting my kids ride dirt bikes in this man's back yard ... but at this point that Mark went too far. He rudely explained he wasn't God, he didn't control the weather, we weren't riding that day, he planned to cancel all rides the following day too, and that he could pay for my wasted gas or I could just get a refund for the voucher. Then he hung up the phone. Just in case the phone had accidentally been disconnected - which I doubted due to his offensive tone - I called Mark back. When he didn't pick up, I left a message saying I thought it would be best at this point if he just issued a refund. My kids were understandably disappointed, but all that I knew about this man is what I had just witnessed . I would prefer, a kind, patient trainer for my kids ... not the rude, condescending, self-important, uncaring man I spoke with. When I got home I received an email from Mark saying he changed his mind and didn't plan to issue any refunds after all. He said we could go back on the email list and try to pick some other dates. There is NO WAY I would sign a voucher at this point, trusting these people with the safety of my children during a potentially dangerous activity, or any activity. Mark claims he forgot to include me on the email they sent out on 12/5/14 cancelling the ride scheduled for 12/6/14. However, that didn't stop him from placing an additional charge on my card on 12/5/14 for insurance covering an event he planned to cancel? Fortunately, Living Social was wonderful and they agreed to refund my the cost of the voucher ... even though Mark refused to do so. On 12/10/14 Mark agreed to refund the additional $148 he charged to my credit card, but later he said he would only do that if I removed/changed any negative reviews of his business. Luckily, the refund is being decided by the credit card fraud department, not Mark. It's possible I just caught Mark on a bad day/week ... but I'm not going to risk it by going back again. We all make mistakes ... he could have corrected his by answering one of my calls the morning of the ride, answering my emails and calls while I waited at his side gate, even answering his door the 1st time ... or by refunding the money he took. Instead, he chose to hide in the house hoping I would just go away ... which would then give him the opportunity to forfeit my vouchers. Hopefully others have had better experiences... but my family found Midsouth Motox to be a HUGE DISAPPOINMENT. Update - on 12/12/14 the credit card company refunded my money read more

What an awesome experience. First class operation. Great instruction and great area for riding. After not riding for 15 years I am glad we stuck to 2 hrs. Still a good workout. Focusing on the fundamentals was good for all levels of riders. Will definitely be going back. read more
