The sashimi was one piece cut in the 4 thin slices - very tasty but very small. The nigri came cooked to my surprise. when I asked the owner, she said it is not fresh so we need to sear it for safety. I was not impressed to be told this. moreover, the rice had a bite and inedible. when the bill came, this was the biggest shock. She charged me the equivalent of £25 for ONE piece of scallop sashimi on the basis that it came from Canada. She did not warn me of the price when I ordered and further dos lot share that the nigiri scallops would be defrosted. why can Sushi Leblon down the road served 100 times fresher and better sushi and sashimi for a fraction of the price? My advice is DON'T go to Azumi unless you want inferior food for exorbitant prices. The owner is very dishonerable. I paid, left and will never return.

Great selection of fish: yellowtail, tuna, sea bass and so on. The place is not that big, I would recommend you to eat directly at the bar table with the sushiman preparing your meal. I would recommend also to order just sashimi & niguiri, the rolls were not that good. The service was not so good, they only speak Portuguese so it was quite difficult to understand them. Anyway, you must come if you are visiting Rio!

If i could give this place more than 5 stars, I would! We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident…read morebut I am so happy that we did. THE BEST SUSHI BY FAR!!! I've had sushi in Japan but here in Rio, they excelled my expectations of Japanese food. Who ever knew that Brazil had so many Japanese! Many families migrated here to call Brazil home. This is most freshest sushi fish I've ever had. It comes down like butter! I don't think I can find a place to match the quality of service my group has received here. The people here had so much love and care. Not only was the service phenomenal, they new we were "gringos" so they had very limited english menu. Honestly, no restaurant I've been to here in Rio had a English translated menu. We decided to go with the All you can eat sushi and kitchen menu. We came around a good time because the buffet was $69R which is equivalent to $20US dollars. I know there is no way in America I can get a luxurious 5 star buffet for $20. Just one plate of sushi and sashimi of maybe twelve pieces would be more than the price we paid for the buffet! We hit the jackpot!!! My husband and I ordered 2 pieces of everything in the menu. They gave us big cuts of fish and not only did they do that.. because we came as a group of 6 (4 foreigners) they knew we wouldn't be able to know exactly how everything tasted on the menu, so they ordered for all of us fish galore. They made complimentary sushi to give us directly after we place our order for the kitchen. Sushi and fish of superior quality with out all that mayonnaise and fillers! The fish shines. They have no fishy flavors to hide. It pure butter!!! Everything came fast and we got the total hook up! The bartender and our server gave us some juice of green tea and peach lemon syrup! AMAZING! They gave us a free shot glass sample each of it and they reeled us in. Us Americans were sold!! All of us were so impressed! By how much love we received here! We chose to sit Japanese style on their formal tatami floors. You are suppose to traditionally sit on your knees and kneel but for those that didn't want to do that they made the tables suitable to sit on the wooden floor with an opening to have your feet planted on the floor. The price of the food is no where compared to the most amazing view we have from our restaurant. Our group took pictures and they had available open seating to catch the best view of the Sugarloaf mountains and the harbor view of the boats. The view is breathtaking from the restaurant and this restaurant is at the mall.. Botafogo Praia Mall, located on level four of the mall of seven floors! I tried almost everything on the menu. I enjoyed every bit of it. I have no negatives for this restaurant honestly. The restrooms were clean, the decor was modern, clean and fancy. Service and food was more than 5 stars!!!
