First off, this is the freshest fish we've had in Rio in the last 20 years. For me, this is the single biggest factor in a sushi spot. Also, the menu is ample - loads of hit and cool Japanese foods. We started with Hana Nira - garlic sprouts. Warm with lovely teriyaki-type sauce. Then, we had grilled octopus. It was really good...perhaps a bit chewy. Our main course was a Combinagi platter of sushi, sashimi, and rolls. Five types of fish were on this combo platter. Everything was tasty and terrific. Little to no wasabi on the sushi so you might request more wasabi if you really want that heat. For dessert, we had the creme brulee crepe with apples and ice cream. Amazing. The golden-buttery sauce was off the charts delicious.

All of the salmon that we ordered had a strong lemon taste like it had been bathed in lemon juice. Our server was attentive but a little pushy with suggestions. I wanted a Vodka and Soda and he insisted on adding sugar to it to make it like a Tom Collin's. Will definitely there again during my trip.

The buffet includes a lot of traditional sushi, hot dishes, and some salad choices as well. Included with the buffet, they bring hot dishes to your table including a fried banana spring roll with chocolate sauce for dessert. The staff are super friendly, and helpful. I have to say, the locations inside Baja shopping, while the food is great, the atmosphere is not exactly a place you would want to go on a date or special occasion. I would recommend this place, if you just want to eat some good sushi at a reasonable price.

We had salmon sashimi brought to the table. Everything seemed fresh, and was tasty, but nothing was extraordinary - after all this is, for the most part, a buffet. Whenever we visit Rio, we try to make it stop at one of the Benkei restaurants. Prices are more than fair and the menu is ample. This one in Shopping Metropolitano stands out because of the restaurant itself. It has more space than the other Benkei restaurants, and offers seating on a really nice outdoor terrace. It's a good place to come if you want a sushi fix and you're really hungry.

WoW. That is all I have to say. I LOVED this place. It…read moredidn't have many reviews in yelp so I hit TripAdvisor to look for a good japanese place in Barra. This was rated as one of the best... but you never know with those other websites, I have been burned before... =p Mori Ohta is inside of Barra Shopping which is a HUGE shopping mall. I hate shopping malls so I just walked directly to the restaurant. I was a bit dissapointed with my first impression... I was expecting something more high-end.. but what the heck, we were already there. Never judge a book by its cover... or so they say. This was an amazing meal, specially for the price ($R109/pp for the rodizio). They just kept bringing japanese food to our table. The fish was fresh, the rolls were creative, service was excellent... when we wanted more "raw fish" they brought out all kinds of dishes with raw fish... and to top it off, the bill came with some ice cream. They didnt speak english, but when in Rio... speak Portuguese! Do yourself a favor and hit up Mori Ohta.
