First off, this is the freshest fish we've had in Rio in the last 20 years. For me, this is the single biggest factor in a sushi spot. Also, the menu is ample - loads of hit and cool Japanese foods. We started with Hana Nira - garlic sprouts. Warm with lovely teriyaki-type sauce. Then, we had grilled octopus. It was really good...perhaps a bit chewy. Our main course was a Combinagi platter of sushi, sashimi, and rolls. Five types of fish were on this combo platter. Everything was tasty and terrific. Little to no wasabi on the sushi so you might request more wasabi if you really want that heat. For dessert, we had the creme brulee crepe with apples and ice cream. Amazing. All of the salmon that we ordered had a strong lemon taste like it had been bathed in lemon juice. Our server was attentive but a little pushy with suggestions. Eu fico surpresa, com o fato que as três filias apresentam o prato de maneiras diferentes. As receitas e a apresentação são distintas. Hoje comi na filial da Barra, e não reconheci vários hot pois não eram nada parecidos com as outras filiais. Em Ipanema eu tive uma experiência agradável e outra ruim..Eu sempre peço o rodízio, teve um dia em Ipanema que demoraram 40 min para entregar meus pratos, pediram desculpas alegando que estavam muito ocupados com o delivery. Eu sempre fui muito bem atendida no Leblon, mas tem um garçom no horário do almoço, que já notei que ele não tem paciência, não é muito simpático. Já foi ríspido comigo algumas vezes, por isso resolvi tentar ir no manekineko dá barra que fica no Casa Shopping. Chegue em 13h, tinha poucas pessoas. Uma mesa com 10 pessoas e uma com 8 e dois casais. Eu escolhi o rodízio mas não quis a opção do chefe, quis escolher. A MISSOSHIRU e as outras entradas vieram no tempo normal, basicamente foi o que comi nesse rodízio do inferno. Tudo que eu pedia demorava no mínimo 20 minutos ou simplesmente não aparecia. Em um determinado momento fiz um pedido ao garçom que nunca chegou, depois de uns 20 minutos ele me perguntou se eu ainda queria o que pedi. Pedi coisas que nunca chegaram na minha mesa. Pedi chutoro que demorou 45 minutos pra chegar na minha mesa e veio frio. Tudo vinha frio. A batera e o carpaccio não tinham nem azeite. E no final fui falar com o gerente, ele ligou para o supervisor que disse que poderia me dar um desconto de 10 reais por tudo que passei. Comentei que isso era nada, pois tinham estragado meu dia, cheguei a passar mal de nervoso. Ele falou que se desse mais desconto sairia do bolso dele, o que achei um absurdo. A culpa não foi especificamente dele, a cozinha estava mal organizada, estavam priorizando mesas que lucrariam mais, etc.. Estou completamente decepcionado, jamais voltarei no Manekineko dá Barra, nem sei se terei coragem de ir em outro novamente. Eu me senti isolada, tinha que pedir a comida várias vezes até para pessoas diferentes, ficava levanrando a mão, tentando chamar a atenção, foi patético. Eu estou tão magoada. Eu esperava ser tratada com um mínimo de respeito. Se eu pudesse voltar no tempo jamais teria ido lá, pois realmente me senti menosprezada e humilhada, como se tivessem me fazendo um favor em me atender.

Whenever we visit Rio, we try to make it stop at one of the Benkei restaurants. Prices are more than fair and the menu is ample. This one in Shopping Metropolitano stands out because of the restaurant itself. It has more space than the other Benkei restaurants, and offers seating on a really nice outdoor terrace. It's a good place to come if you want a sushi fix and you're really hungry.

This was rated as one of the best... but you never know with those other websites, I have been burned before... =p Mori Ohta is inside of Barra Shopping which is a HUGE shopping mall. I hate shopping malls so I just walked directly to the restaurant. I was a bit dissapointed with my first impression... I was expecting something more high-end.. but what the heck, we were already there. Never judge a book by its cover... or so they say. This was an amazing meal, specially for the price ($R109/pp for the rodizio). They just kept bringing japanese food to our table. The fish was fresh, the rolls were creative, service was excellent... when we wanted more "raw fish" they brought out all kinds of dishes with raw fish... and to top it off, the bill came with some ice cream.
