This is always a stop when I have visitors to Kauai. Its a surprise find in little Hanapepe town. The almond croissants are fantastic as well as other pastries. Grab a pizza and raisin bread before you head out the door or you'll be wishing you did hours after you've left. We wandered into this amazing bakery on Friday Night Art Walk. We ordered the Macadamia Nut Pesto Pizza by the slice. This is the most amazing pizza I've had since traveling in Italy. What an awesome little place in the small town of Hanapepe. I ventured over while my husband was off deep sea fishing and I'm glad I decided to come in. I had a hard time choosing what to get but since I love savory foods--I opted to get the ham and cheese croissant instead of all of the Other sweet options. The croissant was delicious! Midnight Bear Breads....what can I say? I'm addicted! I feel like I just walked into a little pâtisserie in France with the pastries all laid out in hand-crafted perfection! I can't go a week without at least one of their almond croissants! But heaven forbid they surprise me with a new addition to the case and I see local, seasonal fruits in their pastries (such as lilikoi) and suddenly I'm buying two! And that's just the beginning, they have fresh, loose leaf teas (hot or cold), the perfect addition to any of their delicious, hand-crafted treats! And to top it off, if it's lunch or dinner time, they make the BEST PIZZA ON ISLAND! Literally first rate! It's rare if I go a week without their pizza too! Top quality organic flour and all I can say over and over is "QUALITY , QUALITY, QUALITY" ! They had a banana's foster Danish, as well as plenty of macadamia nut cinnamon rolls. My husband and I split these. He had their drip ice coffee and I had a pineapple herbal ice tea. Everything was delicious. We took chocolate croissants to go, as well as a small load of Rosemary sea salt bread, and a ginger muffin. These will be breakfast for the next two days of hour trip. I have already torn into the bread. Omg, great crust. I can't attest to the rest but I'm sure I will not be disappointed. read more

Fabulous lunch...I had avocado Brie sandwich and ginger lemonade and it was so good! Will definitely return when I'm on Kaua'i. Great sour dough bread for Kauai. A little over price but everything in HA is over price.

Pastries kick ass, owner is cool and the lemonade he makes is ridiculous. Had the lavender and soursop lemonades. Both were great.

We just happened to wander into this bakery, and it may be the best find we've had in a long time. We (3) each had a different pastry, and each was terrific. We plan to meet Evan at a farmers' market for more goodies and drive back to Hanapepe from Poipu tomorrow (Friday) for his pizza. Another reviewer bemoaned the guy working there; that wasn't Evan. I'm not strict on organic but listening to Evan can almost make me that way. We was very knowledgeable about baking and ingredients, and was easy to talk with. His products are as good as Bouchon's but more "down home." Can't wait to try the pizza! read more

We stopped here on our way back from a helicopter tour and were surprised to find a French bakery. We ordered 4 sandwiches and the price was reasonable, the sandwiches were delicious and very well grilled. The ingredients were fresh and tasty as well. The sandwiches are amazing. The caprese was my favorite but also tasted and enjoyed the avocado and the prosciutto sandwiches. A slice of pepperoni pizza was devoured by our table. Only downside was the wait - took about 20 minutes. read more

Went to Friday Art Walk last week on 05/22. Bought a slice of their pizza Macadamia Nut and Pesto. Very tasty! Also bought a loaf of 9 Grain bread. Real good quality bread. Brought it home and a week later I'm still enjoying the bread and it's still very soft. read more

so, you find yourself in hanapepe and you go through the town because you've read that there's this decent bakery. after all, people give it 5 stars on yelp all the time. i got the 5 buck bread pudding and 4.5 meyer lemon danish. the danish was really good--a croissant outer with the cheese and lemon in the middle. nicely toasted, flaky. the bread pudding (chocolate) didn't need to be heated since it was 100 degrees that day. it was like a brick of goodness. soft, gooey, flavorful. four stars because they need more products. we got there before noon--the highway produces customers all day, man--and there wasn't much left. but everything was good, looked good, was not too pricey considering we're on an island. needs more bread and pastries, but very solid on what we had. read more

We stopped by for a superb morning coffee in this quaint SW Kauai town. It was such a sophisticated atmosphere --clean white with stunning photographs --with many mouth-watering pastries. We had a papaya-custard Danish and perfect pain chocolate with great coffee. The clerk /baker was keen to explain the coffees they offered. (Also 2 washrooms-- a rarity in the Kapa'a coffee hang-out). Their breads and pizza smell, look and apparently taste fabulous and we wish we were staying here longer to get some.
