A once good Bank - No longer good 10 years ago, I started banking with Midfirst and I really liked the bank. Good people and good customer service. I really enjoyed working with Marcus. He is gone now along with the customer service. Being retired, I was traveling and had not looked at this seldom used account for a while. When I looked, I realized I had made a simple math error which caused the account to be overdrawn. I was really upset when I noticed what I had done, and on top of that, I was dinged with $130.00 in overdraft fees. Since I had NEVER had a single overdraft in 10 years, I thought they would surely be willing to wave these ridiculous fees. I called the bank to express my concerns and was told the manager would call me back shortly. After waiting 4 days for a response, I spoke to Ann Marie. In a cheery voice she told me NOPE! It appears that the once good customer service has been replaced with plastic corporate types, with the attitude of "what can we get out of our customers". Since loyalty obviously means nothing to them, I am moving my accounts to a Credit Union where I will actually find quality customer service. read more

The teller told me it's going to cost me $4 per page for printing my deposit statements. She also told me i did not have my account very long. I explained i had this account over three years now. She continued to tell me she can't separate the deposits from all other activities at her bank? She went onto say, she would have to charge me a research fee of $35 if I wanted her to print out the deposits. Most unfriendly bank i have dealt with on 7th street and bell roads. Anyone have a suggestion for another bank i can move to? read more

MidFirst in my honest opinion is WAY BETTER than traditional banks in several ways. Bathrooms for customers, Saturday hours, free coin counting machines, excellent customer service, free bottled water, and branches that look like a ski lodge are just a few reasons I like them. ***** a must read before you open account****** Just had worst experience in this bank. I had some issue with my account and needed some funds reversed. They told me branch manager is only one that can make the change, but is in a meeting with another employee. So I sat there waiting for 45 min. As I'm waiting another customer walks in and also needed to see branch manager "Vanessa Gonzalez". Right away they interrupted their meeting for this gentlemen. So his issue and time was more important than mine.. I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. read more

Thumbs up to MidFirst bank. We have our business account with them and there was some fraudulent activity. They caught it before I did and acted immediately saving me what could have been a lot of money. It just reaffirms our decision to move our business to this great bank. For a smaller bank, you would expect greater customer service and more personal treatment from its management. Unfortunately, their customer policies and banking solutions don't compare to their larger competitors. Their treatment of good customers, when there is a discrepancy involved, is plain awful. The only reason why I am still banking there is because I received a great promotional rate on a HELOC awhile back. Once the HELOC expires, there is absolutely no reason to bank there again. read more

Recently switched my accounts over here from a larger institutions by the recommendation of another Nelson Lozano went above and beyond to help my wife and I get our business straight there . The customer service at this branch is phenomenal. My husband I are always treated exceptionally well. It is a lot of small touches that make this bank a standout. The staff is personable, the atmosphere inviting and a complimentary water and coin machine are an added bonus. Even the safe deposit box area feels better than most banks. Horrible customer service!! I had come the day prior to this one to look into their banking plans was greeted by someone right away and helped. However today I come in and there's one teller to help people waiting in line finally after watching the 3 other bankers just standing around and talking and making jokes to one another as it was very clear guest were getting upset. After asking if they had someone else who could help us their rely was a joking "I'm not a teller you don't want me to touch your cash" then she walked away. I finally decided to walk out and won't be banking with them. read more

I do not know what bank you are banking with but I bank at the 7th and Bell location in Phoenix. 90% of the time I go to the drive up to deposit. with no one else at the drive up and a couple cars in front it takes on average 4-6 minutes to post a deposit after they take the deposit slip from me. They are normally there right away to take my deposit, but most of the time it takes way to long to get back with the deposit slip. Also I have deposited things in the night box (after hours) and the deposit should be posted the following morning by 9am the latest. Mind you they get there about 7am. Well I am writing this today because I had a cash deposit that did not get posted until 415pm!! rediculous.... I had emailed them through their website at 9am about no showing the cash deposit posted. nothing..... then on my lunch hour at 1230pm I emailed again, through the MidFirst bank website... nothing--- on my 4pm break I called the branch. Manager was gone already. person I talked to said should have been deposited and showed the deposit was "in the system" I told him I just looked 2 minutes before and it still was not posted. I know what happened. He saw that it was not posted , then posted it at that moment- I asked for the manager and again, was already gone- I am hopeing to hear from the manager tomorrow. If I could give this bank a zero I would. Constant issues with them holding title company checks in larger amounts. They actually held a large cash deposit today. Cash! The management is always changing. Drive thru can take 20 minutes for a small transaction.It's just a shame that this particular branch brings down the reputation of the entire bank. You should be able to access your money. We had a $2500 spending limit that we never knew about until denied a booking for a vacation. More time out my day to have them correct this. This is an excellent small bank that treats their customers with respect. My branch is Bell Rd and 7th St. They are all friendly and you can even talk to a real person if you call the branch, no automated mess to try to navigate through. Highly recommended. I moved all my accounts from Bank of America to Midfirst and have been very pleased with the difference in service. read more

My first and only time inside a Midfirst bank branch was a horrible experience and I will tell everyone I know not to bank with them. I went in to close an account that I had opened over a year ago and forgot about, and to collect my measly $50 deposit only to be told that I had $10 left in my account due to a monthly recurring "dormant account fee". The first teller didn't understand why I hadn't received any notices about this so she went to get help. She took a second teller with her so as not to speak in front of me. Ten minutes later after listening to teller #1 take a phone call, the second person, Nelson, came out to tell me that there was nothing they could do to help me recoup any of the fees. I began to tell him that I worked in banking for years and before I could finish my point he told me, as he smiled and laughed "well then you should know that this is how banks do things" anytime I began to speak he would just say "you should know, you should know" speaking to me in the tone you would talk to a 2 year old in. Yes, I suppose I "should know" that banks make money on bs fees. He is right- not the best explanation Sir. It was condescending and rude. I have truly never experienced anything like it, and would have never spoken to a client in such a way. I then asked for a manager and he laughed at me and said "ok". Laughing at a customer who is frustrated and clearly just wants an explanation other than "this is what banks do". Believe me, $50 does not make or break my life, and I think part of the issue made here is that to the employees of midfirst bank, my business meant nothing to them because my one and only account was so small. I learned long ago not to judge a book by it's cover or a customer by the one account they have with you. I was amazed that even with one small account, not a single attempt was made to ask why I was closing it out, or to retain my business. This was always the golden rule in banking when I was a personal banker- I guess things have changed. The manager came out, Vanessa, offered to remove three fees totaling $15. So now we have gone from nothing can be done, to we can remove a few fees. Fine. She could not tell me why nothing more could be done and also did not care about providing any explanation for why MidFirst is able to send me marketing emails month after month but could not utilize this form of communication to warn me I was about to throw away money. She suggested that because my account was opened online and not assigned to their branch that another branch had dropped the ball? She really didn't make much sense and I'm not really sure if she was making it up as she went along or if this was really an explanation. She also ignored my first attempt to tell her how I was just treated by the teller, and then when I told her a second time she said "oh he laughed at you, ok I will talk to Nelson about that". No eye contact. No apology. She then Id'ed me a second time after the first person I was dealing with had already done so and all of my info was pulled up there, they had already revealed all of my private account information to and with me and when I asked why she was taking my ID again she said they had to since they didn't get it the first time. In fact the teller (a third teller now) felt the need to chime in and say something as well about having to get my ID. At this point I wanted to laugh. At least the employees all certainly seem to stick together. So, as a customer it was my responsibility to read whatever fine print was there that none of us read upon opening my account a year and a half ago. If Midfirst is that hard up for a few bucks that they have an extremely staunch stance against removal of maintenance fees, then the banking employees could have just explained that to me. "We do not remove fees at all". But I know this isn't the case. They just had no interest in retaining my business because I had one small account, and a baby on my hip. I wonder how differently I would have been treated had I walked in in my professional business attire wearing a Rolex. Honestly. What snobs. As a bank, and employees of that bank, these individuals were so unprofessional, not knowledgeable about their own banks practices, and just so rude, I left feeling shocked and frustrated. In my past life as a banker the goal is to at least have the person walk out the door feeling satisfied with their experience and not likely to post a novel on yelp about how unprofessional it was. A $50 client was looked at as just as important as a $50,000 client. You never know who you are dealing with. I promise you I will never bank with Midfirst in any way after this and will be telling friends and family to beware. read more
