Despite remaining within the 30 day window, when we called back to inquire about financing with them, they told us they closed our file but acknowledged we were still a couple of days within their timeframe. Because they would need to run our credit again, we are going with someone else. I'm unsure which location Mike McGuire works out of, but he was particularly helpful and courteous, despite Desert Financial dropping the ball.

I'm not saying I don't owe the money. I'm saying there should be a reasonable and humane way to resolve a $2,000 debt without making it difficult for someone to access basic banking services. The way Desert Financial handled this feels less like a credit union working with a member and more like mobsters collecting a debt: pay us, or we'll make your financial life miserable.
