Received some top notch service from the man Torrey here at this location. Helped us set up our account. Gave great and helpful insight, and now we are members with Midfirst. The one in the bank is nice, a very welcoming establishment that we look forward to visiting for our banking needs.

A majestic fireplace in the main area.

If already didn't have a bank I would move. No joke. My experience for notary services was unbelievable. I popped in the other day per recommendation of a neighbor. I had heard notary services were available to non-members. (The nearest location of my bank is aaaaallll the way in Peoria. 17 miles away. So, no.) When I opened the doors I initially thought I was in the wrong place. It felt like an architect design studio. But no, the smiling receptionist assured me I was, indeed, in a bank. She also confirmed notary services were available and waved me over to the teller area. I still had a feeling of disbelief that I was in a bank when I walked over. A) Everyone seemed to be having an incredibly good time. (It was the middle of the day and I felt like it was happy hour.) B) I was greeted like the second coming of a VIP. (Mean while I was slumming it in a pair of shorts.) C) The interior of this place only got better. (Just you wait.) D) Everyone that works there is movie star beautiful. (Not that this is relevant to customer service. JUST A FACT.) I was directed to sit in the couch area to wait for the notary. I sadly only had a few minutes to enjoy the plush couch that swallowed me with love, the fire place and the high ceilings. I snapped a few photos but really did not do justice to capture the beauty of the space. Stunning. If I could live in the space, well, yes, that would be nice. VERY NICE. The notary. Hoh my. He's possibly the nicest person. Ever. It's very difficult to write words to describe a customer experience that goes above and beyond...anything. I don't even have the papers that were notarized (is that even a word?) to pull up his name. But I could share the stories we traded. (But I won't - they're mine! :) I didn't want to leave. Him. And then I was a bit stunned that the notary service was free of charge. WHAAT? Yeah. That. [Head Shake] Unreal. Awesomeness.

I ended up with Midfirst out of convenience due to their partnership with ASU and the benefits they offer college students.

We had the cash, but decided to do the loan so as to keep the cash handy for emergencies. To be clear, the terms were good. 20 years, 7.5% APR (in this banking environment) and only $177 in fees. So technically the loan was for %52,177 where we received $52,000. We had a basic savings account. The first problem was when I learned that I could not transfer to an external account more than $2k in any 24 hour period, and no more than $3k over 30 days. To make matters worse, we could only transfer to external accounts that were also joint accounts with both my name and my wife names. This Arizona Financial Credit union account was our only joint account. I was told that I could initiate a wire transfer, for a fee of course, or visit a branch and get a cashier's check for funds beyond $2000 should I wanted to them to an external account. This is the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-six. Why should I have to bank like it's 1968? I have an account with Alliant Credit Union. I'm allowed to move up to $25k to an external account within any 24 hour period with no limits beyond that. That applies to online transfers or wire transfers. So after accruing about $213 in interest without even reaching the first payment due date, I cut our losses. I paid off the loan and closed the savings account. The only satisfaction I have from this sorry affair is knowing that the loan cost them more than it did me due paying it off so soon.

During the call, I requested to speak with a supervisor. In response, the representative stated, "That would be amazing," in what I perceived to be a sarcastic and unprofessional tone. My concern is not with the credit union as a whole, but with the level of professionalism displayed during this interaction.

We picked Desert Financial Credit Union and so far have been extremely happy with the service. Perks we've seen so far: 1) Savings certificates (CDs) with intro rates of 5%, competing with online-only banks and much better than those offered by most national banks 2) Trust establishment services (shout out to Deivy, who is a true joy to meet with) for a much better price than that offered by lawyers in the area (we're talking in the realm of $1500 instead of $6000) 3) Some points-based system where you get some cash back at the end of the year that already has me gamifying our finances to make sure we max out the potential benefits Only negatives so far seem to be a lower ATM daily allowance and some limitations on monthly transfers out of their checking account to external banks. For many people, though, these issues won't come into play. Very happy with our decision to open an account.

More than 10 minutes passed and I was still sitting there, so I walked out to the lobby, which was empty, and asked the two young tellers where the rep was. They just kind of shrugged and went back to looking at their phones. The woman returned and said she had to leave because she was double-booked. Someone else showed up and said he'd take over. So, I showed him my ID and EIN letter and he asked questions. That part was fine. He said he'd be in touch within a day or two. About a week later, I emailed him and asked him what was up. He was apologetic and gave some BS excuse. I told him him I had a bunch of cash at home that I'd really like to deposit. He said he had to check with someone, or something along those lines. More days went by. I called him and left a message asking for him to call me back. Nothing. I deposited my money at another credit union today and can honestly say that dealing with AZOne CU was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had in my life.
