I am writing this to ensure leadership at the Camelback branch understands how poor communication cost them a client today. I am a high-net-worth individual and a private banker myself. I called ahead to confirm I could get Euros as a non-customer. I was told yes. I drove 30 minutes each way, only to be told no at the desk. I will simply get my Euros at the airport. There is no reason to follow up with me; the damage is done. I am sharing this so you realize that an hour of my time was wasted due to a lack of basic professional coordination within your branch. What could have been an easy 'yes'--or even a pitch to open a new account--turned into a permanent negative impression. We bank with MidFirst Bank because of the personal attention we get when we contact them. Their app is super easy to use and to transfer funds quickly as needed between our accounts. I recently had some issues with a Zelle dispute and Dolores Martinez, the First Assistant Vice President at the MidFirst Bank in Surprise, went out of her way to help me with my dispute. She is always pleasant and professional, I am grateful for all her hard work she put in for us never once making me feel that I was putting her out. read more

This is the worst bank I ever dealt with. Before I opened an account, I met with a personal banker. He promised I would be able to do banking without going in by calling or emailing him. He also promised I would be able to have an assistant do it. As soon as they had my money, the story changed. They refused to deal with my assistant and insisted that I be involved and do things myself. He also blew off numerous Emails. And the bank put a surprise hold on my money. My wife and I continually had issues with customer service here regarding fraudulent activity on our account. The lack of customer service was appalling and disappointing. We provided multiple types of evidence to them with no regard to what happened to us. They did no show any empathy on their part to what we went through. A few years ago this branch (Camelback in Phoenix) was awful. But the new branch manager, Kevin, put people on customer service that actually do customer service. This bank is much better than others. You will have to make appointments for anything other than deposits or withdrawals and be prepared to show ID that matches how your account was set up. If you want Paper statements you'll pay for them with a slight monthly service fee, but if you do online banking and can print them out yourself there's no charge for that (at the time of this review). You can't blame the local branch for the website and how it works. First off, it's made for maximum security so you will need to follow instructions if you're trying to log in. Be patient. That's my advice. And if you're opening a new account, and it sounds too good to be true? Ask for the manager or supervisor to come and verify what you've just been told. Talk about Rude Customer Service Reps. I had been on and off of hold with a rep who was trying to help me for over 30 mins. I had to leave where I was at when the call commenced and so I went to get in my vehicle when the rep got back on the line again as I was backing out of my spot. He/she aggressively started talking and I had to talk over he/she multiple times to get them to be patient and hold off for one minute while I got connected to my hands free equipment in my vehicle and this person had the nerve to yell at me saying "that's why you don't talk on your phone while driving" . There are so many things wrong I don't even know where to begin. I wanted to move banks to support smaller, but the process has been a headache from day one. I'll start with the big items - for a business account they don't have Zelle or any electronic means of sending money. You have to send a check. Their website is archaic with a FAQ section like they just started out. I couldn't even search how to sign up for electronic statements - nothing was found (bc it's not intuitive where it is). To try to link my personal and business accounts, I sent in 2 forms, went into the branch twice and had 3 phone calls. Nothing. Every time I called, I had to start over bc no one took ownership of the process or making sure I was set up after my account was opened. They acted like this was a weird request??? The people you talk to are nice, but the processes and technology at this bank are terrible. Go somewhere else. read more

I went here because my dad had an account here and liked them, and my mom wanted me to open an account here. I had finally received the share of my late mother's savings and I was desperate to cash it, and preferred an account if possible. The problem was I needed the money immediately for a few reasons, none of which is anyones business . I rushed to Midfirst, glad they are open until 6. I knew they were the kind of place that would happily help, even a new person, even past closing. I was wrong. I was there 20 minutes before close. The teller refused to help me. He said it takes "up to 30 minutes" to open an account. I told him it was extremely important that I could cash this, that I needed the money desperately. He advised me to go to a check cashing place. I informed him those places take 10%, which would be $500 in my case. He just said, "I can't help you." I managed to get to my car before bursting into tears. It was so important to cash this check today. Even though I told the teller, he did not care about me, he only wanted to close. I am so sick of this attitude in customer service. Yes, he could have helped me, he just didn't want to do any work so close to closing. I remember when almost every business was happy to stay late with a new customer. I know it would been inconvenient for the young man, but if he had gone the little bit out of his way to help me, I would have been a loyal customer for life. He messed up. I had an error where an employer put the account number wrong. I called as me they found the check and deposited it in my acccount. Due to this my account had overdrafted. I received 7 overdraft fees due to autopay bills. I called midfirst was told the branch manager would call me back 3 times about taking care of this. They NEVER called me back. They did refund 2 and said I can ask my employer to reimburse the rest and that due to company policy they cannot refund more. That's 5 xs $35. Me having to call multi times. Horrible service. I'm now waiting for the person above to contact me to see if they can issue the refunds. I can see why my work no longer uses this company. read more

If already didn't have a bank I would move. No joke. My experience for notary services was unbelievable. I popped in the other day per recommendation of a neighbor. I had heard notary services were available to non-members. (The nearest location of my bank is aaaaallll the way in Peoria. 17 miles away. So, no.) When I opened the doors I initially thought I was in the wrong place. It felt like an architect design studio. But no, the smiling receptionist assured me I was, indeed, in a bank. She also confirmed notary services were available and waved me over to the teller area. I still had a feeling of disbelief that I was in a bank when I walked over. A) Everyone seemed to be having an incredibly good time. (It was the middle of the day and I felt like it was happy hour.) B) I was greeted like the second coming of a VIP. (Mean while I was slumming it in a pair of shorts.) C) The interior of this place only got better. (Just you wait.) D) Everyone that works there is movie star beautiful. (Not that this is relevant to customer service. JUST A FACT.) I was directed to sit in the couch area to wait for the notary. I sadly only had a few minutes to enjoy the plush couch that swallowed me with love, the fire place and the high ceilings. I snapped a few photos but really did not do justice to capture the beauty of the space. Stunning. If I could live in the space, well, yes, that would be nice. VERY NICE. The notary. Hoh my. He's possibly the nicest person. Ever. It's very difficult to write words to describe a customer experience that goes above and beyond...anything. I don't even have the papers that were notarized (is that even a word?) to pull up his name. But I could share the stories we traded. (But I won't - they're mine! :) I didn't want to leave. Him. Each time I visit this specific branch I leave disappointed in the service. I understand any/all financial institutions maintain the responsibility of protecting the assets of their members. I also understand that in order to effectively do this certain security and/or identity measures are required. However, it's upsetting to constantly be questioned each time I attempt a transaction. Today, after being forthcoming with my identification (State issued drivers license & my personal debit card) & a completed withdrawal slip I was asked the following questions by the bank teller, Stephanie: 1. Do you have another account at a different bank? -No 2. Did you just know the exact amount that you needed? -Yes 3. Is that why you only wanted _____ dollars & eleven cents in change? -Yes My inquiry is this... Why do you care so much? My personal opinion... Yes, of course I know how much of MY OWN money I need to withdraw. Maybe next time I should just say, "Surprise me!" What exactly is the appropriate amount of change one should request in order to prevent your unwarranted questioning? Lastly, If you didn't earn or deposit one red cent that is currently in my checking account then don't worry about the amount or reason for my withdrawal. It's MY money, it doesn't belong to you!!! Worst drive thru teller customer service I have experience of any valley Mid First branch. It usually takes 3 different teller personnel to handle my transaction damn near every time I visit this branch. Don't expect to get in and out in less than 10 minutes every time. I would give this location zero stars if it had an option. Ive always been treated very well at other locations and rave nonstop about this bank with the mid western feel but Brett at this location has horrible customer service skills.. I received two fees this month that were out of my control. I tried to transfer money from my savings multiple times over a 24 hour period to cover a bill, but the transfer link on the bank app was down so they charge me an overdraft fee. (The transfer link is down ALL THE TIME) The closest bank to me does not have a cash deposit ATM option and it's the holidays. We're all busy..Also, my debit card numbers were stolen at a Redbox in December and Midfirst Bank told me it would take 10 business days to get a new card in the mail so with weekends it took over two weeks to receive it. I even called to say that I needed to get it quicker so I could use the account to not get charged fees and they said "it's on the way". I have a lame account that makes me use my debit card 10+ times a month in order to not get charged a monthly fee but going 2 weeks without a card made it to where I couldn't use it the allotted times so I was charged another fee. I kindly explained the situation to him to see if I could get the fees reversed and he flat out said they weren't a logical reason to reverse the fees. And he also said I should've received the card a lot faster than 10 business days even though that is Midfirst's policy not mine. Are you kidding me? He just kept wanting me to open a different style of checking account "to help me in the future", most likely to get his monthly quota. Even said he didn't know that my type of account existed and it didn't make sense to get charged a fee for not using the debit card enough times. Hello? I agree? So why do you not want to help me? I finally asked to speak to a manager and he said there wasn't one. Not cool Brett. My precious little girl overheard the conversation and went and counted out $5.26 out of her piggy bank to give to me because the bank stole money from us. So sad. Tried to get a new debit card 3 or 4 different times and it was a no for one reason or another. The people who I talked to were no help to me whatsoever. Another time tried to deposit a check for a security deposit from an apartment. One lady said I needed my roommates signature to deposit it because it was made to her AND I. Got the sig then a different lady wouldn't deposit it because I needed her in person with me. Went to a different location right after and it was no problem. I transferred money from one account to another. Nine hours later my debit card was not valid. What I did not know is that the total amount deposited into checking is not available for 9 hours, or "until the funds clear." Only the first $200.00 is available immediately. This was a cash transfer from one account to another. Internally, though, they use a check. This slows everything down, as far as funds being available. Meanwhile, if automatic orders are requesting funds, as in my case, since the funds are not available, my checking account locked. If you call the bank's 888, non-local number, after 7:00 pm, you have to wait to talk to someone and unlock your account the next business day. It is a quirky bank. If you know their nuances, you can survive. They do not mention these facts to you though when you make the effort to go into the bank to make a transaction. So, it can slow you up the next day and cause you to have to reach out to other creditors. Also, you cannot move an IRA out of their bank until "it matures-their said date." Otherwise, the penalty is 40%. I have to move on. I am too small with too much going on to worry if my money is available or not. read more

Well, if you are thinking of opening an account with Mid First bank, think again. This bank claims to be a small, personal service bank, they are not. I opened a business account and they lost all of the documents my wife signed. When I spoke to the banker and tried to rectify the problem I was only offered to waste my time by returning and resigning all the documents and having my wife do the same. It's easy to get a person on the phone at Midfirst, but it turns out that speaking to a human being doesn't mean you'll be treated like one. I've had three significant experiences at this bank in which the customer service was so low, it wasn't even there. First, I spoke to someone about an auto refi who simply would not contact me back. She would always tell me she was going to call, and then she wouldn't. I ended up handling it with another bank. She never followed up to find out. I guess they're doing so well that they don't need any more ~extra business~! Secondly, I ordered a new debit card because they were running some kind of promo for the design cards. You know, picture of a flower, your dog, etc. Card never came. I called them a month later, they cancelled it and sent another. Card never came. I called them a month later, they had no idea what was going on, and I told them to forget it. NO FANCY CARD FOR ME. Third, there was a snafu between Midfirst and another bank that I use. Midfirst was obviously completely to blame for the incident, but instead, the people I spoke with on the phone petulantly insisted that it was either my fault or the other bank's, but not theirs. This went on for weeks, and ultimately, they did nothing to fix the problem or to retain my business. Again, Midfirst must be doing REALLY WELL to just fling off customers like this. It was such a minor issue that I could not believe not only the thinly veiled hostility from the people I spoke with, but that they would be so petty and ridiculous instead of just fixing the issue. I'm not kidding when I say it could have been an easy fix. I'm flexible! But not when they are so openly unwilling to do the least thing to retain a customer. Instead, they fought with me like a middle school frienemy, and I am closing my account in disgust. Almost every interaction that I have had with this bank has been annoying, and unusually devoid of customer service. They don't even pretend over at the old Camelback location. I ended up with Midfirst out of convenience due to their partnership with ASU and the benefits they offer college students. Even after having graduated from college I haven't looked elsewhere because I really love this bank. Now it's been about 6 years since I've done my personal banking with them and at this location. Over the last six years I've seen some of the same employees still be there and other that have come and left, but one thing that has never changed is their customer service. All the tellers are courteous and as a person who hates small talk, they've always made it really easy and pleasant for me. read more

So far, so good. Despite all the 1-star reviews, we went to MidFirst Bank immediately upon moving to Phoenix, and we're very glad that we did. Perhaps because our banking needs are simple - a personal checking account and a safe deposit box - we have nothing but praise for the MidFirst Bank staff, the services offered and the convenience. We've been treated like valued clients every time, both in person and on the phone. Heck, the first time after opening our account that we went to the Camelback branch, the teller, with whom we had previously had only one brief interaction, recognized us and took care of our request promptly, courteously and efficiently. Convenience? The Camelback branch is open 9:00-6:00 Monday-Friday, and amazingly, they are open 9:00-1:00 on Saturday! How many other banks have such convenient hours for clients? (None that we could find.) Ample parking right outside the front doors of the branch. All-in-all, MIdFrist Bank is a winner in our books. read more

Not Good for business... First it took Kathleen a long time to open the account, Almost an hour and a half. When she finished, she asked me about my green card and she told me that i have to bring it to get a copy of it.. After three days she sent me a rude email saying ''bring the copy of your green card or come over and close your account if you don't want to comply'' !! Very Rude!! The second bad experience was with Barbara, she is in charge of loans. After i submitted my application and emailed it to her, I asked her to let me know if she received it but i haven't heard from her, so i went to the bank and she was not there, so i gave it to one of the employees and asked hem to tell her to just email me to make sure she received it. I haven't heard from anyone for 12 days, then i went to the bank online customer service to tell them about the issue. Finally! She got back to me already 2 weeks,,,I answered the phone,,,No apology or explanation about why she did not get back to me,,, she said that my personal credit is not that great, and they cannot give me any business loan!! I went to wells Fargo and i got a loan on a car for my business even though i do not have a business account with them. Also, when you have an issue and you call the 1800 number, they ask you to call the branch were you opened the account. I am leaving them by the end of this year. So, it might be good for a personal account but NOT RECOMMENDED for business. Go to a reliable bank that can help you with your business. read more

Greatest bank in Arizona. It's privately owned and operated. When you use their ATM card at any other banks' ATM machines, they will reimburse you the fees back to you. You might see a fee charged when you take the money out of the ATM, but that charge will not show on your statements. They are currently remodeling this branch right now so you might see some dusts flying when you walk in, but that won't be long. Great bank and great employees, this is what banking is all about. They even open on Sundays too, can't beat that. read more

For a smaller bank, you would expect greater customer service and more personal treatment from its management. Unfortunately, their customer policies and banking solutions don't compare to their larger competitors. Their treatment of good customers, when there is a discrepancy involved, is plain awful. The only reason why I am still banking there is because I received a great promotional rate on a HELOC awhile back. This branch would be okay if it weren't for Jaime. He pretended to be helping me with my account all the while he was the one who flagged it for fraud, which it was not. There has been fraud on my account but it has been by hackers, and had nothing to do with me. I got some Zelle deposits that he wouldn't release to me, stating they had to clear and I should come back in the morning. I came back and then he told me that the fraud department had flagged it. No, he flagged it. The branch held $9000 of mine, putting me in a very bad situation with my landlord and rent. Jaime left me sitting in the lobby for 4 hours and when I was got upset and was crying over the money I needed, he threatened to have my physically removed from the property. I am a 55 year old woman who was upset that my money was being kept from me, and his answer to that is a threat. He was rude and he pretended not to know the reason when all along, the reason was him. He promised to call me and never did, and he knew the position that I was in. He was extremely unprofessional with the way that he handled the entire situation and on top of it, he lied right to my face and that is unacceptable. Amber is also in the branch and she was very nice and helped as much as she could. But I had to call the CEO of the bank at the corporate office in Oklahoma before I could actually get anything done. All because of Jaime. I couldn't even get gas in my car because he was incapable of adequately assessing the situation. Do your self a favor and go to the branch downtown by ASU or at 7th St. & Thunderbird but steer clear of this branch, and especially if you have the misfortune of dealing with Jaime. read more

Don't bank with these guys. My mom switched from chase to mid first bank. She had money transferred from a few different accounts. She had an IRA transferred from chase to them. She is not educated in the workings because she is widowed and my father passed away. They told her she couldn't move an IRA to another IRA that they would have to move that money to a cd. She didn't think much of it and went along with what they told her. Next thing Uncle Sam wants a fat chunk of money because they made a HUGE mistake and moved money that then became taxable. She didn't take out a dime and had no idea. After over a year I. Back in forth as which mid first agreed at first to take care of the financial mistake they made. They have since backed out of that and she is now having to hire lawyers to protect her in this. What total low lives. This is the problem in life. Scumbag businesses screwing another person. Great bank of you don't want to use your money but try and use that debit card even for charges you verified before and they will stop the card every time. Best part they don't have after hours customer service so when it happens your just screwed until they open again.
