The staff member working in the fitness area (moderately sized but very nice quality equipment and lots of natural light) was actually DOING SOMETHING, i.e. walking around and putting stuff back in their proper places! Never seen that at any other Y I've been to, where staff just stand around, fiddle with their phones, and generally just use up oxygen---unless they are personal trainers working with a paying client. Not only that, the guy actually noticed that I was new and came up to me, introduced himself and offered help if I ever needed any! Absolutely flabberghasting staff behavior for a YMCA, lol! If only every Y were like this. 2. The fairly new, spacious, and coed sauna next to the pool area (there are no longer single sex saunas in the locker rooms, I was told) was actually heated to a decent temperature (190F according to the thermometer hanging on the wall at chest level) AND had two levels of seating so you could actually get a decent sweat on, as opposed to some Ys that for some boneheaded reason have only a single low bench which is completely useless because duh, heat RISES so why in the hell would you want to be sitting so low when it's already maxed out at some wimpy 150F? (Cough cough, Melrose and Framingham YMCAs.) The disadvantage of a poolside sauna though is that it's a pain to go back and forth back to the locker room shower for a cold rinse every 10-15 minutes, as opposed to a locker room sauna---but this is not a fatal flaw. 3. The treadmills were by a brand called Matrix I had never seen before and I got on one hoping that it wouldn't totally suck like the Precor treadmills---happily, it did not, though I was disappointed at how tiny the screens were after being spoiled by the huge 24" screens of the Life Fitness treadmills at my home Y in Cambridge. BUT it had one beautiful feature the big fancy LF treadmills lacked: a built in cooling fan at the top of the console, which was absolutely delightful! Wish this feature were standard on EVERY piece of gym cardio equipment, lol. Only a few minior gripes about this place: - Almost all the stationary bikes were the geriatric recumbent kind. No Keiser bikes, which are the only ones with decent ergonomics and that actually feel like you're pedaling a real bike. - Kettlebells are few and max out at 22kg, which is barely enough for one handed swings and presses, but much too light for loaded carries or two handed swings. - Oh and it'd be nice if they had some hanging boxing bags, or at least one. This is one of the things that sets the Cambridge Y apart: an abundance of free-hanging real boxing bags, not the useless water-base standing bags. This gym appears to have neither. Overall though, this is a very good Y and I will be sure to return next time I'm in the area!

Miss Emily, Mr. Ross, and all the YMCA staff were especially helpful. Our 40" ventriloquist puppet sang "We are all here in Foxboro and we say thank you". After our Tennis Ball puppet sang our version of "Happy Happy Birthday", everyone joined in singing the traditional "Happy Birthday" to the young boy who will celebrate his birthday this month. Special thanks to the children who joined us on stage today to play our tambourines, maracas, and drumsticks in tempo with our music. Some even volunteered to demonstrate their new ventriloquial skills after choosing a puppet of their choice from our big drum case. Volunteers were encouraged to say their first name into the microphone and try moving the puppet's mouth three times as they said "One, Two, Three" with their new puppet voice. We especially want to thank the male and female YMCA counselors who volunteered to be our HUMAN DUMMIES, wear our male and female ventriloquist face masks, and help us sing our "No Bully Zone" (No, they did not sing at the same time... we're not that good!)

However, already knowing Erica and her staff made what could have been an incredibly difficult decision feel like the best choice we could have made. The staff at Cowlicks and Pigtails made our transition into the world of infant daycare so smooth and reassuring. Sending a baby to daycare shortly after maternity leave was a completely different experience than sending our older child to preschool, but they made us feel comfortable, supported, and confident that our daughter was in wonderful hands. Our daughter started at just about 12 weeks old and is now three, and we truly couldn't imagine our lives without the incredible staff at Cowlicks and Pigtails! They have cared for her, supported her, and loved her through every stage. Knowing she is safe, happy, and surrounded by people who genuinely care about her means more to us than we could ever put into words. We are so grateful to be part of the Cowlicks and Pigtails family!

Today was my 8 year olds third day of ten at this camp and she won't be going back. The activities…read moreare minimal. Her day is mostly spent in the water and at the playground. She can do that for free outside of camp. The counselor that she has, Megan, refuses to call her by her correct name....maybe she thinks its funny. She has been harassed by another child to buy her ice cream and candy at the snack bar, with the other child telling her that she has to.....yesterday she put her hand out to get her change and the other girl swiped it from the adult behind the counter, who said nothing. Today she tells me that her counselor never spoke a word to the kids all day. Part of the activities is boating and archery. She did both on Monday and not since. I thought this was a Catholic based camp where the staff are mature and gentle and the children are taught how to be kind. Save your money...go elsewhere, where the activities they represent actually happen.

I regret to inform Parents who have children attending this Daycare. My grandson started this…read moredaycare less than a year ago. At first he got a common cold in 2 weeks there. Then after we got that to kind of clear out he got severe nasal and congestion infection which caused green Mucus and he need breathing treatments from the hospital. At this time the Director and I had a conversation and I expressed my frustrations. I spoke about what was the Cleaning procedures in the classroom at the end of the day. I started to pick him up and only then did I start smelling bleach or sanitizer when i picked him up. The teachers in Ms Brittany's class are young so I asked what certifications they had or do they have children of their own which I never got an answer. I told my daughter it was time to take him out. The director asked her to give them the opportunity to prove themselves to be trust that there would be no more illnesses. then about a month later he got pink eye !!! Now im really upset but my daughter says Mom you might be right this place is Not experienced enough. Now a month later he has a skin infection on his skin by his private area which we were told it is contagious and transferred by changing one child and not washing your hands or using gloves during changing time . It is clearing up THANK GOD but i worry about the scar it might leave in his skin . He will NEVER Return to this Place ever Again!!! I just want people to know that our experience with this Daycare is HORRIBLE. If your child has this same issue with Brittany's class it will not stop being a Problem. I Urge you Parents to ask about Change time and what illness are children still able to attend with illnesses that can be contagious. My daughter has to work and I had to stop working to take are of my grandbaby. I love being a member of this Y! First of all, it's really big and it took me a long time to get…read morethe run of the place. I'm still finding new rooms and amenities that make my membership really worthwhile. Most recently, I discovered the 18+ women's locker room, which is separate from the regular women's locker room and it is absolutely wonderful! It's pretty quiet in there, and it includes vanities, hairdryers, a pumping lounge, a sauna, changing rooms, and lockers. It's a very comfortable space for women, which I can really appreciate! I'm also a big fan of the yoga classes here. Tuesday night's "gentle yoga" is a great class with a fantastic instructor. I always look forward to going! There is a little bit of the spiritual aspect of yoga thrown in, but it is not too much. It is mostly focused on the yoga itself. And while it is a slower-paced class, the instructor will suggest ways to make a pose more challenging. Thursday night yoga is also a good time, and a great workout. It feels more like a fitness class, but it still retains that zen yoga energy. There are also day-use lockers that do not require a separate lock - just entering your own code - next to the yoga studio, which makes storing all my stuff really easy. There is also a lot of workout equipment! There is a good variety of machines for cardio (I love the cardio mezzanine, it's such a nice space overlooking the weight room) as well as for weights. When I do not want to workout in the weight room, I can go into one of their gymnasiums and use the free weights in there as long as there are no classes going on. In general, the Y is pretty clean and updated. The only exception is the regular woman's locker room. The staff have always been kind to me and very helpful when I need something. As for parking, the lot gets pretty hectic. It's on a somewhat busy side street off of a busy main road. The lot itself is tight and strict about the use of the parking pass. Overall, there is a lot offered here and I have always been pleased with my experience here.
