They cancelled my wedding!! Because they don't have proper permits! I have no words! My fiancé and i are young first time parents and our son was diagnosed with epilepsy at 6 months old, this wedding was going to be such a bright light in our lives. And now it's trash. I was just shy of rent money I spent every last penny I had on save the dates that said middle ranch| Lake view terrace| ca. I will get over this but I don't think I will ever get over my opinion of what I now think of middle ranch. First of all! I have always received emails from middle ranch to my email address, the cancellation email was only sent to my FIANCÉ! Makes me really question what their intentions of emailing my fiancé instead of me are! I called today after the news and the lady said the permits could take anywhere from 3 months to a year and a half! If they get the permits before my wedding date they will contact me first and see if I would want to rebook that date... At first I was like oh wonderful but now I'm like how could I put my trust into you! I've never been more upset in my entire life! My Wife and I discovered Middle Ranch through Yelp, as were still unsure where we were going to hold our ceremony. When we came to the property, we were not only impressed by the overall look of the venue, but also the staff and support. They were kind, professional, and helpful. As COVID progressed, we had to seriously change our outlook on the expectations we initially had. Middle Ranch was not only supportive of that, but very flexible to our many changes. In the end, the wedding turned out amazing, everything felt fluid and uninterrupted. So huge thanks and deserved credit goes to Middle Ranch and their staff, especially Estefania who went through a lot of trouble with us and for us to make sure we got the ceremony and reception we needed. Unfortunately due to the pandemic I had to cancel my wedding and Estefania the event coordinator was so very accommodating and was very understanding. Another place my fiance and I visited for a possible wedding venue. This place was quite a drive from the San Gabriel Valley (which we realized we would have preferred a venue a little bit closer for most of our guests to drive to). The venue itself is very nice. There are horse stables around, but does not have that stench of horse manure. When we walked into the house to take our tour with the coordinator, we though the decor just added to the charm of the venue and of the house. There is plenty of space for your guests to just lounge around and chit chat during cocktail hour or just to take a break from all the wedding party dancing. There is also the option of having the reception in this home, but everyone would be so spaced out, making it less intimate. Another option is to have a wedding reception outside, which would be a nice change from having it indoors. But one problem we had about the outside area was that the cemented walkway/ patio area is on a slight slant. You can chose to make that area your dance floor or put tables on that area (which the person we met with told us that they would utilize the slanted area for such.. hmm, doesn't sound very safe if you ask me). Either way, it would not pose as a good place for anything. You could just not put anything over in that area, but then you would not be utilizing your space as well. Over by the pool, there are chairs, umbrellas and lounge chairs all along the pool side. One bad thing about that is that the coordinator told us that she would not allow for us to remove those for our wedding, so they would be out and take up space (again, not utilizing the space very well. But you could put floating candles in the pool for a nice decoration). Adjacent to the pool are outdoor restrooms (there are restrooms inside the home as well) and a nice bridal room. This room actually provides a nice large amount of room for the bride and her bridal party. Overall, The price in general was acceptable. But with the slanted floor and the restriction of not removing the chairs was a downer for us and made it easier for us to decide against this place to book for the wedding. read more

Our wedding was ruined, if you want a venue that allows live music this is not the venue for you. They changed the contract regarding the music after we had already paid. The police were called and our band was cut short. They only played for 45 min. Middle ranch employees threatened to shut the wedding down if the band didn't stop playing. We also had a DJ and although he lowered his speakers they also threatened to shut him down also. As for the bridal room, they said we would have access to it all day, but the week prior to our wedding day they told us the bridal room was only available after 11am. We recommend you save your money and stay away from this venue and go somewhere else. read more

Very disappointed. I booked an appointment for a tour over a week in advance with Estefania just to get there and find out the office was closed and no one was available to assist me. Didn't get a call or email or anything to cancel or reschedule my appointment. Luckily a very nice lady who works for the property grounds showed me the venue but it was definitely not the proper tour I had hoped for. My mom drove from over an hour away to see the venue just to be disappointed as well. It really ruined the experience of looking at my first potential venue. I can't say enough good things about Middle Ranch. We were looking for a venue to hold my mother's "celebration of life" reception, and when we arrived, we instantly knew this was the place. The staff bent over backwards to make this possible as we only had a little over 2 1/2 weeks to book; however, they were very compassionate and understanding due to the circumstances and made it happen. Terribly ran venue, they are so disorganized! They have been operating without the appropriate permits and due to their negligence they cancelled ALL private events for this entire year! On top of that before this detrimental information was revealed, they notified us that no extended hours (which we paid for) would be allowed and no live band would be allowed, along with music needing to be 55 decibels throughout the event (that's the noise level of whispering). This venue has been so poorly managed and they destroy couple's with costs! On top of that you have to choose from their preferred caterers or vendors or pay a buy-out fee of $1500. Attended a wedding at this place. Even though it was in the contract, the owner or the person running the venue did not allow live music to be played. They also told the DJ to not play music that would "hype" everyone up. They then called in a noise complaint on their own venue to LAPD. This place is bad business, they take your money and then call the cops to try and end the event early. So definitely not worth the stress. I do not recommend. read more

Middle Ranch served as the setting for my small, intimate engagement party a few weekends ago and I need to share my experience with this venue. We had originally planned on hosting our party at a ballroom but in the midst of Covid the indoor venue could not guarantee safety for us or our guests and had to cancel. We found Middle Ranch through online searching for outdoor venues and to our surprise this local gem popped up and we scheduled a tour with Estefania. From the beginning, we were met with nothing but kindness, graciousness, and clear information. We were told what they could accommodate for us which includes 60 inch tables, linens, chairs, lights, all dishes, utensils, and cups. Estefania worked with us to create a layout that suited us, followed Covid guidelines, and was comfortable for our guests. Even though we ended up renting a few things like chairs and cutlery, it was good to know the venue provided them should we need it. I must have emailed or called so many times between picking a date and the actual event, but they were always helpful and answered my questions and let me do site visits over and over again. They are prompt at answering emails and phone calls, which I really appreciated since I'm a stress ball and needed lots of reassurance. On the day of the event, everything was set up the way I had requested, the venue was clean, the bathrooms also clean and well stocked, and the fireplaces lit for us. It was just perfect. It truly ended up being so beautiful and it took very little additional decor to make it stunning. The place just has natural beauty and reminded me of someone's really well kept and beautiful backyard. We received so many compliments from our guests about the space. I'm just surprised more people don't host their events here. All in all, I am grateful to Middle Ranch, Estefania, and all of the staff for being accommodating, relaxed, kind, and very helpful throughout the planning and day of my event. I coordinate the prom for a small, private school in the San Fernando Valley. After attending two weddings at this location in the past year, I called to inquire about the possibility of hosting our event there. I was told after providing my potential date that "The manager said 'No! We're not interested in proms'". I then asked for the manager's name so that I could hopefully speak to them directly and plead my case (our kids are not allowed to dance, we only do a banquet, venues of the past two years vie for our business each year), but I was rather rudely informed I didn't need to "know her last name". It must be wonderful that Middle Ranch is so in demand that they are willing to blindly turn away business and a loyal customer. I was severely disappointed and feel others, especially brides, should know the general demeanor of those in charge. When planning an event as meaningful and special as a wedding, I would not want these people in my corner. read more

I really love this venue. I got married here last year. It's so so beautiful for a small intimate wedding. It's also reasonably priced. Their caterer is Cynthia Brooks Catering. I had many of my guest tell me how good the food was. But they forgot to bring coffee cups and served cold coffee. One of my biggest problems that really upset me was with I believe her name was Karen. Liane which is a total doll, Let me set up the day before. Karen was there that day. She was very rude to my wedding coordinator and me. I was hoping she wasn't going to be there the next day for the wedding. But unfortunately she was. She managed to piss off every single one of my vendors. She even yelled at the carter in front of my guest. She really needs to learn to speak to people in a professional manner or take a class in Customer Service & Hospitality. read more

Maybe I'm a little bias because this is where I got married. The location is absolutely beautiful. It was everything I wanted in a location from offering a nice out door setting with beautiful lights outside and a nice country feeling, to a cabin inside which is air condition which was perfect for my summer wedding, offered my guest the option of the two. They ladies I dealt with were extremely nice and help me through this stressful time. The only thing that I didn't like was that when you book this location you have to use their own caterer which was pretty expensive (but she works with whatever kind of food you want). We book this location on a sat in September from 4-10 on reserving the day we had to put a deposit of $500. We had to pay the rest 2 months before the wedding and it was based on how many guest we had. read more

Beautiful place to marry and have a reception. We could not have been happier. It was amazing and magical. The grounds are green and fir trees are everywhere. The lodge itself is filled with antiques and has a huge double sided fireplace with mantles that just ask to be decorated. The staff was warm and cooperative. This is a beautiful venue! I was hired by my clients as wedding day coordinator for their wedding at MRL on 10/3/15. We started working with Liane and then was turned over to Karen for the wedding day. I also got to meet Deb, so I've had the opportunity to work with all three. Liane was easy to communicate with and accommodating during the planning. During the final walkthrough, we had to repeat a few things- but we were confident everything would be perfect the day of. The day of came and the ceremony site was let set correctly, but Karen and Deb were so good (and patient!!) about moving the site to how the bride wanted it. They moved it quickly and we were able to carry on setup. The linens didn't make it onto the table, in result one more thing our team had to do during our setup. No problem. Overall, they allowed us to move items that the bride wanted to hide (pictures, small statutes etc) and allowed me to store her wedding items two days prior to her wedding so that we didn't have much to transport. I can't stress how amazing this venue is so tranquil and gorgeous! I'd love the opportunity to work here again and would recommend it to future brides interested in a rustic venue. read more

My daughter was married at this wonderful venue just yesterday and we couldn't be more happy or impressed with the beauty of the location and the helpful staff. Middle Ranch welcomed me the day I went to see the venue in person. As I drove in, a pair of Clydesdale horses were walking down the street...completely magical. Our wedding decor was all rustic/vintage and they allowed us to bring a bunch of furniture and accessories to beautify their lodge-like reception area even more. We were referred to their caterer, Cynthia's catering, and had nothing but rave reviews on the quality and taste of the food, as well as the friendly serving staff. The team at middle ranch is outstanding. The venue is gorgeous and easy to work with. I wish I could say the same about their dictated catering company Anoush. While their food quality is good, their operations, follow through and customer service leaves a lot to be desired. We had our wedding catered by them, as a dictated customer, ( Middle Ranch required Anoush to be used) and it was awful. From no responses from management or Seveda, to disorganized wait staff at it event. One bartender for 100 people and an open bar causing over an hour wait and I keep going. Of course there are always issues, but the worst part was, when communicating them to Anoush, they went silent. No response. I guess they got their money and that's all they cared about. So be aware. Be forewarned. They simply just don't care about they customers as they promise to do and maker you believe they will..... Until they get payment. If you don't care about any of that, then middle ranch is amazing and gorgeous and helped create a wonderful wedding. Debbie and Karen are a pleasure to work with. You are professional, responsive, easy to work with, and went above and beyond to accommodate some of our needs! I just got married there a little more than a month ago (!!) and overall, it was wonderful and beautiful and we received several compliments on the venue and the food. HOWEVER, there are a few drawbacks: This place isn't for everybody. You have to be REALLY laid back about things. 1) This is more of a complaint than drawback. They're good about walking through the set up with you and are pretty flexible with where you want your tables, dance floor, etc. And I wanted the bar, cake and photo booth in very specific locations because it was 90+ degrees that day so I wanted to make sure the bar was inside to keep people inside for cocktail hour. Basically give them an hour to cool off before going outside for the reception. I arrived at 11:00 morning of my wedding to find everything was set up exactly as I had requested. Great! My fiance (at the time) and his groomsmen walked out of the lobby at 5:00 to greet guests out front for the 5:30 ceremony. SOMEHOW between 5:00 and 6:00 (ceremony completion time) the bar was moved outside where the photo booth was supposed to have been, the photo booth was moved up on top of this little grass hill way out of the way, and the cake was moved to where the bar was supposed to have been. As such, the guests ended up outside at their reception tables in the heat during cocktail hour and several people didn't even know there was a photo booth. Sooooo if you have a vision of your wedding, just know that it may change without any notice or permission. 2) Depending on your DJ's strike time, your reception is drastically cut short because you only have 6.5 hours from ceremony start time to exit time. And by exit time I mean every person and piece of equipment or decoration must be completely off the premises and out the gate no later than 11:59:59. Unfortunately my DJ required 1.5 hour strike time so I had to end the reception at 10:30, which gave only a 3.5 hour reception. You may think that's a lot of time, but when you count all the toasts, special dances, cake cutting, bouquet toss, etc., you're left with about 1.5 hour of regular dancing and festivities. And believe me, they are STICKLERS about the time. 3) In positive news, the staff very graciously let my wedding party and me assemble our centerpieces the day before the wedding and stored them in an air conditioned room for us that night. However, the next day the receptionist wouldn't let my bridesmaids put out the flowers on the tables because she said it was too hot outside. Fair enough. However, by the time she did put them out there, it was too late for the photographer to take any photos of the reception area. So I have none. You are completely hostage to their timing, their schedule and their set-up for everything. And if you try to do it yourself you get yelled at by the receptionist. 4) The receptionist is simultaneously helpful and rude. And definitely overbearing. Now, despite those drawbacks and a few more, I still gave it 4 stars because it really is pretty, unique and affordable. You just HAVE to be willing to be VERY laid back about everything. Honestly I am so upset at this venue, I was suppose to have my wedding here this year! We fell in love with the landscape the charm and the style ! But sadly this beautiful venue had something shady hidden and that was NO PERMITS! I already had everything book the outside cater, Photogrpaher, make up artist who I know have to look for another , hair, photo-booth, and DJ! They literally emailed me which was a TO WHOM MAY CONCERN email there was no sympathy when my fiancé called ! Now they are taking forever to receive our refund which we need since we had to go find another venue due their lack !!!! Also I'm upset that they kept emailing on the music loudness and changing the times it is very frustrating honestly I had high hopes of walking down the aisle to dancing with my family but now it's shattered because of this place. It accommodates with our budget and now we have to find some other place which is past our budget . We chose this place as our wedding site. It was perfect--tucked away in the hills, lots of space, private, and all around, beautiful. You are only allowed to have one caterer at this place, Cynthia Brooks. We were a little skeptical of this at first, but we tried the food and thought it was great. Plus, if you book at middle ranch, all of your barware is glass (as opposed to if Cynthia Brooks does it offsite, where I think its plastic). All in all, I had so much fun at my wedding and Middle Ranch was a beautiful venue site. If you are looking to get married, this is a wonderful venue with wonderful people working here. Middle Ranch is a beautiful venue and it was so nice to have the venue to ourselves almost all day. It also required very minimal additional decorations, which was a great cost-saver! We were able to have both the ceremony and reception at the same venue, plus parking was free for guests which is a rarity in the LA area. My daughter's wedding took place at Middle Ranch, and it could not have been more beautiful. I would like to compliment the staff for their professionalism, attention to detail and taking such good care of this naturally beautiful area. The place is just pristine. The venue is nestled between green, yellow and purple hills, and a lush grove of mature pine trees. It is also a working polo arena, and horse training center; but that just adds to the charm and beauty of the place. I would greatly recommend Middle Ranch for any event indoor/outdoor; but especially for weddings. All that being said I wish the staff would have made themselves a bit more available to offer advice on the wedding march. We needed help lining up and hitting our mark but they were unwilling to give advice. I think it would have looked more cohesive had we had a more knowledgeable person guiding us. Oh, one more thing, I think that it should be made more clearly, to prospective clients, that if you plan on serving red wine a deposit is required of $ 1000.00. I did put down a deposit of $ 500.00 to book the date, and they returned my deposit without any problems or I needing to call. Great Job! read more

My only critique is that they need to update their website photos because the current ones do not do them justice! Beautiful venue and responsive staff at a reasonable price. They provide all the basics and then some. You do need to use their approved caterer (Anoush) which is where things can get a little pricey, but their food is delicious, so no worries there! I've been boarding my horse here for about 2 years and the care here has been great. I keep my horse in one of the paddocks on the north side where he lives with two other horses that he gets along with well. The staff is friendly and takes good care of the horses and I feel confident that my horse is in good hands and don't worry about him when I have to go out of town from time to time. Coming from the horse country area of Texas (Fort Worth/ Aubrey) where there is an abundance of pristine horse facilities and knowledgeable equine professionals, it has been frustrating finding a facility in LA that I can be satisfied with but Middle ranch has been excellent. I really thought it was a beautiful venue especially that time of year, the flowers were blooming so it didn't need a lot of extra decorations. Everyone was easy to work with, they answered any questions that i had and responded to emails promptly. They have a great outdoor space with lighting to place a dance floor. Anoush did our catering and the food was amazing. There was so much food to choose from and our guest said they had never been to a wedding with food that good. Everything about this place was amazing, all of our vender's love this location and especially our photographer amazing for our photos, again Amazing and so Private and Perfect for a wedding, the only shadow was their required catering company that we HAD to go with food was good, but not friendly and didn't seem like she cared (owner) for her job maybe she's been doing it to long, their catering truck was parked in the HANDY-CAP parking spot, and when asked to move they told my guest to wait and NEVER moved it, I was livid when I heard about this......after the wedding. They also brought the wrong alcohol and we never got an apology just a real snotty email from the catering company. Beautiful ranch, lovely setting. Close to trails and easy access to the Hansen Dam. The serenity and peaceful atmosphere at this ranch makes you feel like you are in another world.The employees and other clients who work there are always helpful and make you feel like a member of the family or at least like you belong. We just got married at Middle Ranch last weekend. Can you say WOW. The venue at night is just gorgeous! I loved the indoor lodge feel and the out door romantic vibe. We had about 140 guests with all out door seating. The staff is little rough around the edges when it comes to being flexible. For example the day of our wedding we were getting ready in the bridal suite which was absolutely perfect for a large wedding party and mothers and family coming in and out. The AC was on full balst so we decided to open the door and let a little warm air in. This was a BIG no no! We got "lectured" multiple times about the damn door! Honestly, that's the worst thing that happened that day everything else went so smoothly. We had a perfect wedding! The caterer was Anoush Catering and it was delicious! We had multiple people say how tasty it was! We deciced to do a buffet style wedding because we were able to get more bang for our buck that way. The Caterer that day Alexander was phenomenal! He brought champagne and snacks to the bridal suite while getting ready and he also brought a full plate of all the food options to both me and my groom so when we were ready to eat we didn't have to wait in a buffet line, it was ready to go at our table! I would highly recommend Middle ranch if you want a romantic wedding. read more
