Hudson Valley Swim - Newburgh - My two little starfish

Hudson Valley Swim - Newburgh

I've been taking my two boys to HV Swim for 3 years, and while before it was a bit hard for them to…read moreget in a lot of practice because of class sizes, this year at Gold's Gym having 3 kids per class, it's made a world of a difference. With just one class down, I'm writing this review with 5 stars because they've done more in the first class in 30 minutes than they have in years past combined, so thank you to HV Swim but also to instructor Richard. My one boy was always so scared of the water, and I've had to request credits because he never went in. Now, he not only stayed there, but swam by himself for the first time ever, was happy about it, and can't wait to go back- he just needed the right motivation. My other son is a fish and was given the right encouragement to do it on his own and swam laps, with a safe eye watching him. I've never felt better about HV Swim, and definitely recommend their lessons!

I would not recommend this place for your kids. Poor customer service, they never answer emails…read more Once u sign up and pay your money they treat you like if they are giving you the service for free. They pulled my daughter out of the pool after the instructor stated she could handle and it was a make up class they we paid for. Totally embarrased my 5 year old which she carries around till this day stating at family dinners how she got thrown out of the pool. Way to go hudson valley swim. No 5 year old should have to go through that. Waited 2 weeks to contact us to try and make amends which at that point is a no go. We talking about a half hr and just common courtesy here. I suggest take your kids else where we work hard for our money and no child should be treated this way. I could make a bigger deal about this and go to the state and owners of golds gym and let them in on what type of organization this is. So in a word stay away there are cheaper and better options around this area. Funny how they only respond to negative reviews. Again we are talking about 30min. Time i didnt show up un annouced thats was out scheduled time. I did not know there was new classes. No one ever responded to my emails. But again this is a paid service i pay for this this is not free at the end of the day the customer is correct when they are paying. You do not embarass a 5 year old. I was very polite and not rude about the situation my daughter is the one that was most hurt. But several paragraphs about the situation from hudson valley swim high road taken by a business

Kumon Math and Reading Center of Beacon - Parent Waiting Room

Kumon Math and Reading Center of Beacon

Our family has been familiar with Kumon for many years. My now 20-year-old daughter began the…read moreprogram at just four years old, and it had a tremendous impact on her development. Beyond strengthening her math and reading skills, Kumon helped her develop independence, discipline, and strong time-management habits at a very young age. She went on to breeze through high school and is now nearly finished with nursing school, all while playing Division II golf and working as a Resident Assistant. The foundation she built through Kumon clearly contributed to her academic confidence and ability to manage multiple responsibilities successfully. So when my six-year-old niece began struggling with math and reading, there was no question in our minds that Kumon, specifically Miss Lydia's approach , was the right choice for her. The structured, step-by-step method has helped her gain confidence, even when certain concepts feel challenging. The emphasis on mastery through repetition and dedication has been incredibly valuable. Kumon's program is thoughtfully designed to support children who need help catching up, as well as those who are academically advanced and ready to be challenged further. It meets each child where they are and steadily builds their skills in a manageable and encouraging way. As a psychiatric and family nurse practitioner and, more importantly, as a mother and a devoted aunt, I wholeheartedly recommend Kumon at Beacon to any family seeking a structured, digestible, and supportive learning method with an excellent, dedicated teacher. It has made a meaningful difference in our family, and I truly believe it can do the same for others.

She had been in a…read moremontessori school since she was three, and unfortunately, the transition to public school wasn't as smooth as we had anticipated. While she was ok at math, her reading was behind compared to her peers. In first grade, she could recognize only a few sight words. The teacher expressed her concerns to us and we knew we had to do something to help her improve academically. It's been eight months since we've started the Reading program and she's far exceeded our expectations. She's reading relatively fluently now and we are confident that she'll enter second grade on the same footing as her peers. The staff at Kumon of Beacon is excellent and it's apparent that they are dedicated to each student's success. Hard work is celebrated and rewarded each class day and also at a year-end party. It's been amazing to watch our daughter's growth since she started Kumon and we look forward to her continuing in the program next year.
