My Dad (85 YO) had a probem with his brakes. Unable to resolve it at an independent shop despite an obvious problem with the master cylinder (Brake pedal went to floor occasionally, bleeding did not help) So I suggested Midas because of the good reviews and the assumption that they would do a professional job, if for no other reason than liability. I called for a quote but was told they did not quote over the phone. I told my dad based on on line quotes ( I am out of of state) that a good price for the M/C was about 300 bucks, knowing that Midas would tack on a little more. I was shocked at the final bill! The part on the work order was a NAPA part number, NAPA store 3 miles away. They charged 700 for a 404 dollar part (Retail) I called the store to check and they confirmed the PN and price, they also indicated this was retail, and whole sale prices would be about 10% less. Thats a markup of 75% to 90%! Totally unacceptable in these days of e-comerce and free shipping. Even if it took an hour to send a mechanic at $180 an hour to pick up the part, this markup is insane! I called midas and asked them to review this charge, but they declined to make any adjustment, as well as declined to give him a senior discount. Obviously, he does not look under 55! Stay away from this place! read more

Andy, Tyler and the rest of the mechanics are great, and I trust them. I have been with them through three cars, two condos, three jobs, and multiple failed relationships. They are the only ones who are deserving of me. read more

I've been to this Ogden Ave Westmont Midas location - several times over several years - and been taken care of, Wonderfully, by this staff! I mean, I cannot say enough about how Accurate their diagnostic skills are - - Over and above other service places where I have come from, those others often with inflated repairs estimates - including repairs or parts I don't need! The Ogden Westmont MIDAS staff is honest - Honorably Honest and accurate - they do not "pad" your bill - because they want you to Know how trustworthy they truly are - - and keep coming back, Because 1) They are Great! at All the Varied types of repairs they do 2) They charge So very Reasonably for their great work 3) They will work to Earn your trust - - As they have for my family - I've had my brakes repaired there, and I've had my broken exhaust system repaired there - and I'll keep going back for everything I can get done by them! What gems these people are. I feel like friends, not just "a customer". I'm a real, been-'round-the-block a-few-times-customer . . . Westmont Midas is the real deal - don't pass them up ! read more

What a great mix of ability and awesome customer service! They will always be honest on service price. Highly Recommend! read more

Andy, Tyler and the crew are great people to work with. Their honesty and customer service are much appreciated!

This place is the absolute best. I have stayed with them through two cars and now live 30 minutes away but still haul my vehicles out to them because it's worth it. Andy is super trustworthy and able to break down exactly what's going on with a car for people like me who do not know anything about cars. They consistently go out of their way for customers and are honest about what you do and do not need to do for your car. Some examples of them being stellar: - I've been told that my car "doesn't need that yet" many times. - I've gotten great advice about whether I should do an expensive repair to my Nissan when I was deciding whether to repair or trade in for another vehicle. - I've been told honestly when a "dealer recommendation" is BS marketing. - Most recently Andy looked at my car and found that the issue was something that needed BMW-specific expertise. He not only referred me to another shop that he trusts, he drove the car there himself with my permission and refused payment for the work they did troubleshooting (which deserves payment!) This is a business that knows that earning die-hard customers like me has a higher ROI than squeezing an extra dollar out of someone because they don't know you're charging them for something they don't need. I will never stop going here! read more

Great communication, value and service. I had taken my car to a competitor and was told I needed front and rear brakes. Brought my vehicle here and they were honest and said I only needed rear brakes and fixed an issue I've had for two years that others could not diagnose. All done for a third of the cost of the competition. read more

Reputable auto repair shop. They won't overcharge you and fix minor things if that is all that is wrong. But don't hesitate to bring big repairs there either. Andy and crew take care of you! read more

I called on a Saturday morning, told them my brake issues. They said, bring it it. "We will look at it, no problem". When I arrived the staff was very friendly, gave me a sense of professionalism. The looked at my truck, and quickly assessed it needed new pads, rotors, and brake lines to the front. They explained what each part did, and why they needed to be replaced. I was amazed on how fast they were able to get me in and out. My brakes work great and I am very very satisfied with the job they did. I would highly recommend them and will also return for future repairs. I should mention that they also did brakes on my wife's 2014 Sonata awhile back and they also did a great job that time. read more

Dont bother making an appt here. Made an appointment for an oil change, showed up for my appointment on time and was told it would be a couple of hours. I made an appointment because I had other places to be during the day, I didn't have time to wait around. If my appointment needed to be pushed out, that's fine, but give me a courtesy call as to not waste my time. Don't bother accepting appointments if you are not going to be prepared to service them at the time of the appointment. read more

I brought my 2010 GLK 350 4matic in to get the exhaust system replaced for $1,425.00. I gave them all day to work on it (starting at 11:30 am). They budgeted for two hours. I got a call in less than one hour that my car was done. They rushed the job and for what? There were no other cars even there that day. After the job, I test drove the car. There was a new engine noise that was never there before in the 11 years I've owned the car. It is a knocking noise. I have 7 different recordings of this noise that they caused on my phone. This noise is 100% a product of the work they did. So, I immediately brought it back to Andy. "Can you please get rid of this noise that was not there before?" He took no blame for the noise and rushed me out of there within one minute. The business had no cars in there and he couldn't pull it in and diagnose the problem he caused? I emailed him later that night. He will not do a thing and blames it on the oil change - which I got two months ago by Mercedes Northbrook. The noise was not there for the last two months or for the last 11 years. read more

Don't even bother with any other Midas locations nearby. Even if this location on Ogden is a little farther away, it is MUCH more worth it. And the reason I say this is because of MANAGEMENT and CUSTOMER SERVICE. The owner, Andy is unbelievably excellent at his job and how to work with customers. I went in for a brake job and it was supposed to be $500 but because of some issues out of either of our control it took longer than expected and he took nearly $300 off the cost due to the inconvenience. No other location I have ever been at would do something so kind. He is fantastic at explaining car issues to a level the average customer can understand and is SO polite. He is a leading example of how customer service should be and he deserves some serious recognition. Thank you Andy and I'll be back and bring my car here for every car related issue from now on! read more

These guys are the absolute best, had some mudflaps I needed installed so I stopped by because I figured the paying would be easier than doing it myself. They did it it completely free of charge and wouldn't even take my money when I offered. Some of the nicest guys ever. You want people you can trust? Go to this Midas read more

I was running errands and was 2 blocks away from Midas. Pulled in and asked if the could check my car for the grinding noise and asked for an overall check up for a future vacation. Dropped it off around 9:30 am and they drove me home. I needed front and back brakes and 4 rotors. It was all done at 1:30 pm and they picked me up so I could pay them. They did a great job and were quick and courteous. I would highly recommend them. read more

I've taken my car there several times and it's so amazing to work with someone you really trust!!! Andy is great and so are the other men I've interacted in his shop. I'm always surprised at how low the cost of the repairs are. Cannot recommend them enough. I wish I had someone that effective and affordable and trustworthy in every aspect of my life. read more

This is a great Midas location! Andy is very knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. I booked an appointment for an oil change a week out (they are very busy!). They said about an hour and he had me on my way in 35 minutes. He was honest and told me what to keep an eye out for in the future. Andy was very honest - we will be back for all tbing car related (brakes, tires, etc). Just call ahead since they are very busy! Refreshing to have an honest car shop in the area. read more

UPDATE: I would like to update my review to let everyone know how this business handled this situation in a professional and timely manner. After my recent visit on 03/25/2021 with issues about my taillight being broken off/cracked etc. I left a voicemail and was immediately contacted back on a Sunday 03/28 from the manager of the Midas in Westmont, Andy. Andy listened and was very understanding and empathetic to my situation, apologetic, and promptly said that he would get a replacement taillight sent in to the shop by Wednesday 03/31/21 to get it taken care of properly. Andy sure enough called me Wednesday morning 03/31 to let me know I could come in any time to get the replacement installed. Andy promptly addressed my complaint and got my car fixed the correct way in less than a week! My issues were taken care of by Andy immediately, professionally, and efficiently to properly and attentively satisfy my issues with the services I received or lack there of...Even though this should have never happened in the first place (and should have been taken care of properly the first time), Andy made it possible where I was actually able to leave there feeling good, satisfied, supported, and serviced like I have been every other time I have came in for service that was done by Andy!! Thank you Andy and Midas for reaching out! read more

This is my second time giving Midas a chance, and I was disappointed. I asked to have my oil change and to also check my brake fluid because it was low . I told him(Andy) that I planned on taking it some where else for whatever is wrong with my breaks but would like then checked out. He was snippy with me as soon as I told him I wasn't going to have the work done there, he cut me off while speaking, and honestly was rude. I saw many others come in and because they were planning on getting work done he was kind, welcoming, and available for questions. Yet with me it definitely wasn't the case and I got oil change there. At the end of it all he reprimanded me and told me all the things I should have done or did wrong, I said okay, I paid and left. I will no longer be using Midas. I just got my car checked by another company who told me there wasn't a leak, no rusting, nothing, and they actually went in to see if there was a problem. This is the second time Midas has done this, first was when there was something shaking in the front of my car Midas said it would be 1000+ fix and I went to my normal guy and it was 125, now falsely saying there is something wrong with my breaks and I take it to my normal guy and he says nothing. What the heck Midas. This is just terrible! read more

I have always been happy with And a at Midas in Westmont. He is always courteous, thoughtful, helpful and honest. I would always recommend him for any work that needs done. Check it out. read more

Andy is awesome! Trustworthy and doesn't shove a bunch of extra work down your throat - as a woman who knows nearly nothing about cars - this is very important! He tells you what NEEDS to be fixed and what he may consider fixing in the future! Andy takes care of both of our cars and I love the warranty you get on what gets fixed by them. Thanks ANDY! read more

Brought my car in for a rattle. Andy and Gabriel put my car on the lift and showed the problem. Andy gave me options on repair. Repair was done when promised and correctly. Cost was fair. Staff was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this shop. read more

I have been using Andy and the guys for the past few issues with my car. Great guys over there! Trustworthy! Andy and the team at Midas Westmont are awesome. We have been a Midas Westmont customer for almost 20 years. We trust Andy's opinion and would not go to any other places. He is honest and would not recommend any unnecessary services. Love the no B.S. style. The staff is always friendly and does quality work. read more

We had to jump start our car twice this morning, and then it completely shut down at the light outside of Midas, so we literally rolled in and were met by people ready to help! Replaced the battery which included a great warranty. I may have been able to get it cheaper elsewhere, but the service was worth it! We were very lucky to roll into such a great car shop, especially since you don't need an appointment on Saturday! Thankful for your help! read more

My family has never received anything less than great service from this Midas location. Andy is straightforward with what needs to be done and the cost involved. No pressure, no unnecessary upsell. Just what you need to keep your vehicle running right. read more

Amazing service! Very honest with if I needed new brakes and didn't..thanks and highly recommend

This Midas in Westmont always takes great care of our vehicles. My brother is a mechanic and he has set the honesty and integrity bar high in this industry, but the gentlemen at Midas give him a run for his money. They are quick, honest and always a pleasure to work with. Yesterday my car wouldn't start and they were able to refer a tow company who didn't charge an arm and a leg, make the necessary repairs in just a few hours, and provide a great warranty on their labor. We will continue to use their services. read more

Best service. The guys here won't try to sell you something you do not need, they won't tell you something is broken when its not, and the prices are great too. They are good quality mechanics, you really don't find that too often nowadays. read more

Andy is the MAN! We have a small fleet of vehicles and have him taking care of a lot of the work for us. On my last visit (hey, the van's got 182,000 miles on it, its seen better days) he had diagnosed the issue before my ride was even there to pick me up! read more

We've been taking our cars to Andy for several years now, even before he became the owner, and he's never disappointed. Where other places may charge for a series of repairs to find the problem, his team spends the time to really investigate and address the issue the first time. Pricing is very fair & honest & it's always quality work. I couldn't be happier! read more

I've taken my automobiles to this specific Midas for about 20 years. The manager, Andy, is terrific. My daughter takes her car to this location, even though she lives 35 miles away in Chicago. Andy has proven to me that he cares about my business. I have had repairs that I thought were going to be extremely costly, only to find out that it was a small part and the fee was under $30.00. That's an honest mechanic. I do make a point of taking the cars in when Andy is present. No slight to his staff, but I am assured that if Andy is involved, the car is repaired properly and the work is performed as it should be. I highly recommend this Midas location. read more

My brother and I have brought our cars here for service many times in the past decade. My main reason is the exceptional customer service. Andy, the manager, is one of the most nicest and honest person that I've ever met in his field. If he encounters something he does not know, he'll be upfront and recommend a different shop that can help. He is the man! Keep up the good work Andy! read more

Needed my brakes fixed on my lunch hour - they did a great job, even took me back to work and picked me up when the car was ready since it was going to take longer then the hour I could spend waiting. They were very friendly, explained everything that needed to be done, and the price seemed reasonable for the service provided. read more

I've been here twice, and I think they're a great place. I was worried I was going to have to replace the shocks on my car, or it was the compressor, because I have air suspension. I couldn't afford an expensive car repair right now, I'd have to put it off. The car looked really low in the back, after driving through the alleys of Westmont yesterday, and tons of pot holes. I called, they took it in right away, and the mechanic Nick, discovered it wasn't the compressor, or the pump, but a valve or connector. The repair was minor, $61.50. I did notice this as a frequent reported problem for the SAAB 9-7X. When I read that someone else was quoted by a dealership $1500 to replace the entire system, I worried. That's what I was thinking I was going to be looking at, so what I spent, was a huge relief. read more

Excellent and friendly service. Andy, the owner was thorough and detailed with the overall discription of the work required and the final assessment of the car. I highly recommend this business! read more

I really wanted to like them but after three separate incidents, I feel compelled to prewarn hard working consumers to avoid this place due to 1) Horrible customer service , making me feel terrible for bringing up the next two incidents 2) performed an unnecessary and unauthorized repair 3) Pricing completely unreasonable for parts AND labor (look up prices on the internet) read more
