I needed an oil change and also needed to get my wiper blades changed. Most places are $49.99+ now for a synthetic oil change - the last time, I went to Troy Honda, for my Accord, and it was about this price. Midas is $69.99, which is pricey, BUT you can print a coupon for a $39.99 oil change on their website, so I took advantage of the offer and dropped by yesterday. You can make an appointment on their website, which I appreciated. I made an appointment for an oil change and when I arrived I mentioned I needed my wiper blades changed. The wiper blades were $40 to get changed which I believe is rather high, I want to say I paid like $20 last time but that was a few years ago. Since I was already there though, it made sense to bundle the services. They quoted me 45 minutes but they finished everything in 25 minutes! They have a very tiny waiting room, it's basically just their regular area, but they do have a few chairs and tables and also free Wi-Fi. I was debating walking over to the Tim Hortons across the street to wait but then my car was finished. My boyfriend has gone to this Midas before and he said I probably had priorities since I was still there waiting. You get a free tire rotation with an oil change as well. The only reason I give this Midas four stars and not five is because the waiting room area is so small, and rather loud - The staff is answering the phones and also you can hear them working on the cars right next door in the shop. Also, my check tire light came on yesterday when driving home, but my sensor tends to be wonky with that; I would hope that they checked the air tire pressure when they rotated them but I'm not sure if they did or not. Otherwise, I was very impressed with how quickly they did all the services on my car, so I will be back for future car needs. read more

I had my car towed to Midas after it broke down, and while things started off well, my experience quickly took a disappointing turn. I initially spoke with a gentleman who seemed helpful and knowledgeable. We discussed not only the immediate repairs but also the fact that I'd been involved in a hit-and-run the weekend before. He assured me that they could help with both the repairs and provide an estimate for the body damage, particularly the driver's side mirror that had been knocked off. We also talked about financing options, potential costs, and even getting new tires. Since it was close to closing time, he said we would continue the conversation the next day and that he'd give me a call. The following morning, however, I received a call from someone who knew nothing about the previous conversation. He only knew I needed new tires and that my car was "ready to be picked up." When I expressed my frustration and asked for a total, he still tried to push new tires on me, despite my concern being the mirror repair, which he then said they couldn't help with--completely contradicting what I was told the day before. It was clear the original person may have had connections to a body shop and was trying to get them business, but the overall lack of communication within their team was staggering. The final price was higher than what I was quoted, but I just wanted my car back and out of there. When I picked up my car, the only person in the front ignored me until he finished a phone call. He didn't go over what had been done or explain any findings--just asked me to settle the bill. When I asked specifically how long I should drive the car before bringing it back in (since they had put dye in to check for a leak), his vague answer of "just drive it around a little" didn't inspire confidence. After pressing for more details, he reluctantly said, "probably like 200-300 miles." Not once did he make eye contact, and the only time he thanked me was after I paid. I went in expecting a thorough and communicative service, and instead, I felt blindsided by the lack of professionalism and attention to my concerns. Very disappointing. read more

I am reporting them for fraud. I only had an oil change once there, and I moved to Florida in 2022. I went to sell my car at CarMax, and they told me that the odometer had been moved, which is not true. What happened was that at Midas, they reported oil changes after I moved to Florida, and since they did not have the vehicle physically, they put the mileage that they decided; this affected the value of my car, and I am reporting them. I have proof that I registered in FL in February 2023, months after moving, and they continued to report until August 2024. read more

I had to bring this to the Manager's attention at which time he deducted the $45.00 bringing my fee down to $1523.30! I had been driving my mom's car for about a month while I'm in town as she passed away and I'm taking care of all the things that need to be done after someone dies. Her "check brake pads" message came up on the screen so I took it here, figuring I'd just need a quick fix. The staff took the tires off and immediately found a serious safety issue -- one of the rear coils had snapped in half. I could hardly believe it even after seeing it with my own eyes. They told me the car wasn't safe to drive -- and I am so thankful they did. I could have easily gotten into an accident if a piece of that coil punctured a tire. My mom took the car in somewhere else in the fall for service and an inspection, so I have no idea how that was missed. A few days later, I picked up the car, and now it's driving perfectly. Was charged a ridiculous sum of money for an exhaust system that last 33 months. They billed me $921.74 parts and $180 labor plus taxes for a total of $1149.62. The muffler rusted off in 33 months and they wouldn't warranty their product. Just for comparison. I bought a Walker stainless steel replacement system with all the parts for $260.19. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR CAR! We took my car in for new brakes, rotors, and an oil change. When we picked the car up, it was making this awful clunking sound it didn't have before they changed the brakes. We brought it back and they refused to put it back on the lift and look at it. They just claimed they drove it around and adjusted something and it was fine. We left again and before we could even pull out of the parking lot it was clunking. Brought it back in AGAIN and 2 out of 3 of the employees were rude and seemed annoyed we were back again. They STILL refused to put it on the lift and just messed around with things in the parking lot claiming it was this or that but never finding the problem, so finally they did put it on the lift. After over an hour of working on it, they ordered a Lyft for us and told us we needed to leave it overnight. The next day, they claimed they fixed it by replacing the lug nuts. We picked it up and again, it was rattling. We no longer trusted them to work on the car so we had to take it to the dealership. It cost another $185 (on top of the $1070 we already paid) for the dealership to find out that Midas left the calipers loose and that was causing the noise. So they happily put our safety at risk THREE TIMES, wasted a ton of our time, and ripped us off for horrendous and dangerous service. Only offered us $100 check "for the trouble" which we have yet to receive (and we are owed a lot more back in my opinion). Paid for new brakes in July of 22. It is now April 23 and they are warped with no accidents or issues and they are "out of warranty" and need rotors and brakes replaced again. For $1000. I went on their website having no knowledge of tires and chose tires that the site recommended. I set an appointment and I get there wait 30+ mins just to be told I chose the wrong tires. I explained to them that I went with what there website suggested and they proceeded to blame me. They went on to order the correct tires and I had to go back hours later. I'm giving 3 stars because the front desk person was not pleasant in the morning but was better in the afternoon. Also no one had on mask not a single worker. They didn't even have them under their chins they just were not worn at all. Forgot to mention that they called me to confirm my tires and appointment and did not let me know the tires were wrong and also they misquoted me the price and did not put it in the computer. As somebody said before me "Apparently if you want things done right at Midas you need to be knowledgeable about auto servicing or they will gouge you with over pricing." Less than a year ago, 12/2/2019, Midas Auto Service (5725 W. Maple Rd, West Bloomfield MI 48322) installed a battery on my car - 2015 Ford Escape. The battery as it turned out was not of high quality. Recently, for several days, I could not start my car without an external charger. On 8/29/2020 I contacted Midas, asking to replace the battery which had a 30-month warranty. Midas told me that the battery was "good" and that I had a problem with the car's electrical system. I was shown some "good" diagram but car needed a charger to start. Being absolutely sure that there was a short circuit in the battery I asked if a diagnostic could be made. It was late Saturday. On Monday 8/31/20 I left the car at Midas, and on the morning of 9/1/20 I was told again that they thought the battery was fine and if I needed the diagnostics it would cost $ 240 and suggested the only one option - to put a new battery. The total charge would come to $ 360. I disagreed and asked to return the car. In order to get the car back I was forced to pay $ 37.79, although practically NOTHING WAS DONE since Saturday. Invoice says "starting and charging diag" - No diagram this time, just verbal conclusion. When I asked for a business card - manager, very rudely at first answered that he did not have it, and then angrily attached it to the invoice After picking up the car, in the next 20 minutes I took it to Tom Holzer Ford Dealership, where immediately at the entrance to the service it was checked for me free of charge - the battery as confirmed had a short circuit and the tester reading said "replace". With the written diagnostic conclusion, I again drove to Midas, where I was told "Ford is not an authority for us". -------------------------------Reference---------------------- Typical CCA readings for a car range from 350 to 600A CCA is "cold cranking amps," or how many amps the battery can put out when it's cold But the battery is bad if the current capacity is low even though the voltage is good. Battery Test readings at Tom Holzer Ford Dealership were: REPLACE BATTERY Voltage 12.3 V Measured 53 CCA Rated 590 CCA -------------------------------------- The same day I ended up buying the battery from Walmart and although I am 81 years old, installed it myself, using Ford's guidance. The car started immediately and there were no more problems. I was serviced by Grant Dunne and the Manager Scott Brown What a Shame! Named people at Midas are dishonest liars who cheat and try to collect money from gullible customers by any possible way. I would suggest not going here unless desperate. I took my car in for overheating, turns out I had a hole in my radiatI understand it's a shop and prices reflect, but I feel it's a rip off. Firstly they were going to charge me $80 for a part I got from advanced auto parts for $40. Additionally they were going to charge $180 for labor. I called around and multiple shops said that was a quick job that would range between $40-$50 in labor. They were also going to charge me $100 for fluid. Which other shops additionally said I could purchase on my own or pay their fee which would be less than $100. The total bill was about $400 and I ended up paying half that elsewhere for the EXACT same job. I had to pay a $35 fee just for them looking at the car, which was fine. But the staff was less then friendly the minute I communicated I thought the price was too steep and would go elsewhere. Save your money, bypass this place. Update: the company reached out and refunded me the $35 service fee. read more

After suspecting my previous mechanic of price gauging, I decided to take a leap of faith with a close by Midas on Maple and Orchard Lake. Easily one of the best decisions I've made for my car. The place recently transferred ownership to a fellow named Alex. I can honestly say that I've never met anyone at an auto-tech center that cared so much for each customer. I was hearing a grinding sound from my vehicle, which they diagnosed. However, after being serviced (it was a caused by a faulty bearing), I still heard the noise. I talked to Alex about it, and he had me come in and replaced the bearing again at no cost (the bearing was faulty). The sound greatly improved but was still there. After discussing the issue with him further, he noticed that it may have been caused by the fact that I was missing a back plate on one of the breaks. He proceeded to order the part and replaced it at no cost. My car now runs flawlessly and I couldn't be happier. Throughout the entire process, Alex and his primary sales associate, Dwane, called me and informed me of the progress of my vehicle. Not once did I suspect the two were hiking the prices or "discovering" frivolous but sinister sounding issues to repair. Whenver they mentioned a problem, Alex or Dwane would take me out to my car and physically show me precisely what they were discussing. Whenever my car needs to be serviced again, I will absolutely return it to this specific Midas. Alex and Dwane are fantastic, caring, and extremely professional sales people/ mechanics. I will highly recommend these folks to any and all of my friends. The only thing these guys can make run better than your car is your dollar. read more

Midas apparently just didn't want to do their job. Waste of my time. The Midas touch at this location is done by unqualified people. Not mechanics. Terrible experience. Don't recommend. I took my car for a specific repair but the owner said he could not do a repair till an overall check up costing $25 was done. The purpose of this is to find as many things that need to be repaired on the vehicle, then you get an outrageous estimate and you are told a lot of the repairs are important. You tell them you don't have that kind of money, they tell you they will "help you" by applying for credit. You are made to feel like they are going out of their way to help you and only have your interest at heart. They then complete the application online for you and make you feel very lucky when you get approved. You thank them profusely for getting you buried in more debt and proceed with the repairs most of which could probably have waited a few more years. read more
